There are several projects currently going on in Russia. The good news is that some have come full-circle and have been completed. Below is a list:

-Training Center for at-risk youth in Perm (in partnership with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) COMPLETED
-Baby Orphanage outreach program providing aid and Christian instruction to preschoolers COMPLETED
-Helping a Street Kids Center in Kaluga COMPLETED

ON GOING PROJECTS:

-6 full-time Training Centers for Graduating Orphans and Vulnerable Children teaching English, Computers and Life Skills

-8 Satellite Centers - Kyiv Center has now 3 satellite centers, providing training to children on the grounds of government orphanages around Kyiv and Berdyansk Center has 2 satellite centers at government tech schools in the Berdyansk area, Ternopil has 2 satellite training centers and 1 Center in Nikolayev

-2 Transition Houses (Donetsk and Berdyansk) to help at risk orphans make the transition from living in an institutional orphanage to real life.

-Entrepreneurship Training teaching business skills and helping to start micro-enterprise businesses to train and employ orphan graduates

-Keeping Families Together program – preventing “orphanhood” by helping impoverished families from government taking their kids into orphanages due to unsuitable living conditions, by teaching them business skills and helping to start micro-enterprise businesses and get into position of being able to keep their kids
-Camps and Seasonal programs (Christmas, Easter) , humanitarian aid to orphanages

As the economic center of the former Soviet Union, Russia has experienced tremendous growth in its economy. While to the outside world Russia may look very prosperous, the dark side shows a large number of problems currently facing this country.

It is estimated there are mind boggling, 1 million children living in orphanages in Russia. There are 1.5 million children living on the streets of Moscow and other major cities. Drugs, alcoholism, prostitution and crime, all offshoots of poverty are rampant and growing in Russia’s cities.

Because of our work in Ukraine and other former Soviet Block countries, we knew there were needs that must be addressed, and Orphan’s Promise made the decision to help.

We extended our hands to help by partnering with Youth with a Mission, (YWAM), to provide a training center for at-risk youth, and a baby orphanage outreach program providing aid and Christian instruction to preschoolers.

Please pray for the missionaries in Russia, and the children we are helping, that this door will remain open to bring the love of Christ to orphaned and abandoned children.
