CBN.com — “I was devastated when my father died,” Gopal says. “Our family not only lost someone we loved very much, but we also lost our only provider.”
Gopal was just 13 years old when his father died from an asthma attack. To help his family, Gopal sold flowers every day before and after school.
“When I started working, I was often late to school and I didn’t have enough time to study,” Gopal recalls. “I thought I was going to have to drop out.”
Gopal needed help to prepare for his high school exams, but he couldn’t afford to pay for tutoring. Then, a friend told him about a CBN after-school program.
“They taught me so many things,” he says. “And even though I was a Hindu and the teachers were Christians, I really felt like they cared about me and wanted me to do my best.”
Gopal passed his high school exams and went on to college. CBN continued to help him by teaching him English and training him to use computers. During his time at college, Gopal decided to give his life to Jesus.
“I was so overwhelmed by the love that Christ showed for me on the cross, that I accepted him as my personal Savior,” he explains.
Now Gopal works at a bank and is pursuing a master’s degree in business administration.
“As a child, I used to sell flowers on the street. But today, because of CBN’s help, I am able to take care of my mother, brother, and sisters,” he says. “And most importantly, I learned about Jesus Christ through CBN teachers. I really thank everyone who made all this possible.”
