CBN.com — Four-year-old Shaw Za looks up to her big brother, Pen Huee. He defends Shaw Za when other children make fun of the awkward way she tries to communicate. Five-year-old Pen Huee understands because he's been teased too. Both children were born deaf.

Their mother Mrs. Wang remembers, "People always pointed at my children and other kids made fun of them and hated them just because they were deaf. They were so embarrassed that they cried. It always broke my heart – and there was never anything I could to do change things!"

So Mr. Wang sold everything he had to try to meet his children's needs. But he came up short and sadly could only afford one!

"I decided to give it to Pen Huee, since he is older," said Mr. Wang. "I thought if he could hear, he could help his sister."

Pen Huee wanted to do that, "I really wanted my sister to hear and speak like me."

The Wangs sent both children to a speech rehabilitation center. Pen Huee did well; but without a hearing aid, Shaw Za was stuck. So Mr. and Mrs. Wang got jobs at a construction company, but they never made enough to get their daughter a hearing aid. The learning gap between Shaw Za and Pen Huee continued to grow – and the poor couple feared they'd have to pull the children out of class because they could not maintain the rehabilitation fees on their low income.

"I felt so hopeless," sighs Mr. Wang. "I only made $6-7 a day!"

Mrs. Wang adds, "I prayed God would make a way for my children to hear and speak. I didn't want to watch them get mocked any more. If only someone could help us and release us from this heavy burden."

God answered the couple's prayers when CBN heard about the Wang family's troubles. We provided Shaw Za with her very own digital hearing aid and made a way for the children to stay in speech therapy.

"I remember the first time I heard the meow of the cat, and I heard my brother laugh," says Shaw Za.

Mrs. Wang was so happy, "When I heard my daughter say momma, I almost cried. All my anxiety went away."

The children are making great improvement with their speech. And today, Shaw Za can communicate just like the other kids.

That makes Pen Huee really happy, "I'm so proud of my sister."

"Now, My kids won't be teased any more and they will have a bright future," says Mrs. Wang.

Mr. Wang adds, "You made a way for us during our hardest times. Today, my children can hear and talk like everyone else. I thank you very much and I thank the Lord."

Shaw Za concludes, "I love you CBN!"
