CBN.com —Suryani (sur-ee-awn’-ee) was excited the day that her son was born, until she saw him for the first time.
“After the midwife put Mursidan (mur’-sah-dan) on my chest, I saw the cleft lip,” she said with tears in her eyes. “I cried.”
Suryani knew that her son’s condition could be fixed with a simple operation. But she also realized that they could never afford it.
Suryani’s husband works two jobs. Some days he works as a miner, and the other days as a farmer. Together the jobs don’t provide enough for surgery.
When Mursidan was about seven months old, a village official told the couple that CBN was coming to their island to do free cleft lip surgeries.
As soon as the doctors arrived Suryani registered her son and we took him in for the operation.
Two months later when we went to check on him we found Mursidan’s lip was all healed up after his surgery.
“I’m very happy and thankful to God and to those who had helped my son,” said Suryani.
“The difference in our son’s appearance is really amazing!” added the boy’s father Mulyadi. “That’s why say a big ‘thank you’ to CBN for what they did to help us!”
