CBN.com —Jaya was nine months pregnant with her second child when her husband was hit by a bus and killed. She did her best to raise her children on her own, but it was very difficult to pick cotton while holding her baby. If she worked all day, the most she could earn was two dollars. On top of that, she had to spend half her day getting water.
Jaya explained, "In our village, we only had one public well for 1200 people. It took three hours to get just three pots of water. People fought with each other to be the first ones to fill their pots. They knew that there wouldn't be any daily labor jobs left if they didn't get back in time. They didn’t care that I was a widow. They would push me away even when I was holding my baby."
Then a pastor visited her home. "The pastor encouraged me to believe in Jesus for all my needs," said Jaya. "He prayed for us and then he left. Even though I was a Hindu and I didn't know if Jesus was real, I brought my children inside and we prayed to HIM. We told Jesus about all our problems. We prayed to HIM from the bottom of our hearts."
Not long after their prayers, CBN’s Living Water's team came to their village and drilled a well close to their home.
Jaya joyously exclaimed, "When our prayer for another well was answered, our faith in Jesus increased. From then on, we started going to church. Very soon, we understood the Good News and accepted Jesus as our one, true GOD. Then we all got baptized!"
Jaya's prayers were also answered when CBN came to her home and gave her a milking buffalo.
Jaya happily said, "I can now take care of my children! I’m very grateful to CBN for not only providing me with another water source, but also a buffalo, along with a few months worth of fodder. Now I can sell the milk from the buffalo and take care of our needs. Thank you so much."
