CBN.com —In Poroshkovo, Ukraine, the landscape is picturesque but the people are terribly poor. Hundreds of gypsy children and their families live in small camps where there is always great need. CBN has helped children learn to read and write here. We’ve given families clothing and medical care and helped them stay warm in winter. Everyone here needs the basic necessities of life but occasionally we meet someone who needs something beyond the basics.
“A baby's first steps is something to celebrate but Mariyka thought that day might never come for her son, Vasya, who was born with a crooked leg and a deformed ankle,”explains The 700 Club’s Terry Meeuwsen.
“I was told my son needed surgery,” says Mariyka. “Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to walk normally when he grows up. My husband works all the time but we barely have enough money for food. We don’t even have enough money for a taxi to the hospital.”
Just one year ago, Mariyka became a Christian. She’s been praying for her son ever since. “I ask God every day to help my son walk,” says Mariyka.
When CBN learned about this precious little boy’s problems, we immediately paid for his surgery.
“I rejoiced. It was truly a miracle,” says Mariyka. “I saw his leg was perfectly straight. I praise the Lord for this blessing! I will always be grateful to you. Thank you very much!”
