CBN.com —Koothayan and his wife, Selvi, worked long hours in the rice fields of southern India. But the most they earned was two dollars a day.
Selvi explained, “We have four children. We couldn’t buy enough food. We could tell that they were always hungry.”
Koothayan sadly said, “I was very anxious knowing that I couldn’t give my children what they needed.”
One of their daughters, Kowsalya, said, “When I asked my mom for vegetables and milk, she used to say, ‘We don’t have any money.’”
Another daughter, Kalai, added, “My parents had to borrow money for my books and pencils. It made me so sad.”
CBN learned about the family from a local pastor. When we visited their home, Koothayan told us that he once raised cows for a farmer and explained, “At first we were able to live on that income. But as my children grew, it wasn’t enough. I knew if i had my own cow, I could provide for my family, but we couldn’t afford to buy one.”
A few weeks later, we gave his family exactly what they needed to start their own business, a cow and a calf. When CBN checked back to see how they were doing, their faces said it all!
The cow is giving us five liters of milk every day!” Koothayan gleefully explained. “I also sell fertilizer to the field owners. I am making more than enough money to provide for my family!”
“You have given our family so much,” Selvi said. “Our lives are very good.”
Kowsalya said, “I give CBN many, many thanks for giving us these cows. Now we always have enough food to eat.”
“Our dad bought us new clothes and books,” added Kalai. “We are so happy.”
“CBN came when we needed them the most,” Koothanyan explained. “I will never forget you. Thank you so much.”
