CBN.com — Grandma Lee takes care of her granddaughter because her parents both have irreversible health problems. Grandma Lee will never forget the day she almost lost Xiao Nan.

"We were holding hands, just taking a walk. And all of a sudden Xiao Nan ran into the road. I heard a loud car horn, but my granddaughter acted like she did not hear it. I raced after her as fast as I could to keep her from getting hit," Grandma Lee recalls.

The Lees took Xiao Nan to a doctor, who said she had damaged nerves in both ears and couldn't make out a single sound.

"Both my husband and I are illiterate," Mrs. Lee confesses. "Now, my daughter would be illiterate, too."

Grandma Lee adds, "She would never be able to find a good job or get married."

Xiao Nan needed a hearing aid and language training, but that would cost nearly $4,000.

"I only make $340 a month," Mr. Lee says feeling defeated. "I would never be able to afford what my daughter needed."

Still, Grandma Lee refused to give up hope. She's a Christian and often prayed to God for help. "I said, ‘Father, you know how desperately Xiao Nan needs a hearing aid. You let her be born this way, so I am believing that you will make a way for her. Please do something.'"

Then a friend told the Lees about CBN, and we offered to pay for a hearing aid and a full year of language training for Xiao Nan. One of her first words was "Daddy."

"I heard it! And I cried," Mr. Lee exclaims. "Thank you so much for stretching out your hands to help my daughter."

Mrs. Lee adds, "Now my daughter will be able to find a job and get married! I am so happy for her."

"You know what the best thing is? Something very special has happened in Xiao Nan's heart," Grandma Lee concludes. "Since CBN helped her, she has put her trust in the Lord and always says ‘Amen' at the end of our prayers. Thank you to everyone who helped to change Xiao Nan's life and give our family hope."
