CBN.com —Grandpa Yang is a poor farmer. He and his wife have always worked hard to make ends meet, but money got really tight when they started raising their grandson Shou.
Grandma Yang shares the bad news, “The doctor said my grandson was deaf. And he said Shou would never hear or speak his entire life.”
So even when their tractor broke down and they had no way replace it, the Yangs took odd jobs to buy their deaf grandson a hearing aid. And while the hearing aid helped a little and grandma Yang tried to teach Shou to speak, there wasn’t much progress. What the boy needed was professional speech therapy. But no matter how hard the elderly couple tried, the Yangs couldn’t afford that.
“My husband cried a lot at night,” says Mrs. Yang. “I know he was anxious about the money.”
“After my old tractor broke down, I only made $40 a month,” proclaims Grandpa Yang. “And my grandson needed 2000 dollars for speech therapy!!!”
Grandma Yang adds, “My husband cried a lot at night. I knew that he was anxious about the money. He said he didn’t know where he could go to earn money to send Shou to therapy.”
Then the Yangs heard about CBN and our mission to help needy children in China.
“I told my husband we need to pray to God and ask him to make CBN say yes to our request for help,” Grandma Yang says.
And we did! CBN sent Shou to speech therapy. Now, this once completely deaf child can communicate just like the other kids his age.
Grandma Yang smiles, “Shou is totally different than he was before. When he speaks, it’s like poetry to my ears.”
We know Shou will have other needs as he develops--- and wanted his grandparents to have a way to provide for him. So we replaced their broken down tractor with a brand new advanced model.
“It’s a much better tractor than I ever dreamed of having,” beams Grandpa Yang.
Not only will this new tractor boost their own business, but the Yangs can rent it out to other farmers, too.
“We made about 2500 dollars just from spring farming. That’s double what we used to make with our old tractor! You’ve totally transformed my family’s life,” Grandma yang concludes. “I don’t know anyone else who would do what you did. I thank God for you. You have been an answer to our prayers!”
