CBN.com —In China, it's a tradition for families to throw a party after a baby's first month of life. Mr. and Mrs. Jia had double the reason to celebrate; they had twin boys! But, six months later, there was a problem.

Mr. Jia recalls, "Jing Wen wasn't growing. I was afraid that maybe there was some kind of problem with my baby's heart."

A doctor confirmed it. Jing Wen had a hole in his heart and needed immediate surgery to survive. The Jias set out to save their son's life—at any cost. Mr. Jia found a job as a delivery man. He worked 10 hours a day and saved everything he could. Even so, with an income of only $110 a month, it would be years before he had enough to afford heart surgery for Jing Wen.

"I was under so much pressure that I couldn’t sleep at night," says Mr. Jia. "I started worrying that we might actually lose Jing Wen after all."

Month after month, the Jias watched Jing Wen's health deteriorate and it broke their hearts. There seemed to be no timely solution, until they heard that CBN was coming to town to help children like their son. CBN paid the balance of what the family still needed to make Jia's surgery possible.

"CBN gave me hope," states Mrs. Jia. "I told myself that we had met the best people in the world and I took my baby to the hospital immediately."

A doctor repaired the hole in Jing Wen's heart and repositioned his artery. After his successful surgery, Jing Wen finally started to grow.

The good news called for another party. This time, it was in honor of Jing Wen's second chance on life. CBN hosted the celebration—complete with cake and a year's supply of vitamins to help Jing Wen's development.

"Thanks to your help Jing Wen has caught up with his brother," Mrs. Jia remarks. "I'm so happy to see how fast he is growing."

Mr. Jia adds, "Thank you CBN for everything—the surgery, your care… the cake. I wish everybody who helped my son could have been at this special party. And I guess, in a way, you were… because you made it possible for Jing Wen to see another day!"
