CBN.com —For several years Meng Na begged her parents for a little sister. So when Wen Qi was born, her wish finally came true!
Meng Na reflects, “I love holding my baby sister and playing with her!”
But soon Mrs. LI noticed that her newborn shivered a lot and had a very hard time breathing.
“The doctor told me that my little baby had a hole in her heart,” says Mr. Li. “And she would need to have surgery by the time she was three. My wife cried when she heard the news.”
As she grew older, Wen Qi’s heart condition got worse. But the poor couple was determined to save their daughter. So Mr. Li found a job in the city as a construction worker. Before he left home, he asked his older daughter to take extra good care of her sister until he returned.
Meng Na says, “My parents didn’t tell me exactly what was wrong with my sister, but I knew she must be really sick! Especially when my mom said I couldn’t take Wen Qi out to play with the other kids anymore.”
Mr. Li adds, “ I didn’t know how many more years I would have to work to save money to finally pay for Wen Qi’s surgery. Everything seemed so uncertain.”
