CBN.com —When Mr. and Mrs. Ye found out they were going to have a baby, they couldn’t wait.  Mrs. Ye remembers well, “I talked to my baby in my womb and I said ‘I wish that you have eyes like your father, lips like mine, and that you smile all the time!’”

Mrs. Ye gave birth to a boy, Hao Teen. He had the eyes his mother had hoped for, but not the lips or the smile. She says, “It was like a nightmare! Hao Teen had a severe cleft lip and palate.”

Mr. Ye adds, “It was like a bomb had exploded in my head. ‘What had we done wrong???’”

The Yes took Hao Teen home and made sure no one ever saw him. Mr. Ye worried, “They would laugh at him!”

The cleft lip made it hard for Hao Teen to eat. “He choked,” Mr. Ye says. “He was so skinny. It broke my heart! I worried about his immune system and his future.”

Mrs. Ye adds her concern, “He wouldn’t be able to get a job and what girl would marry him?”

Mr. Ye started working extra hours as a truck driver to raise money for surgery for Hao Teen, but it was going to take years. “I was afraid he would not be able to hold on that long,” admits Mrs. Ye.

Then Mr. Ye read that CBN was coming to his town to do cleft lip and palate surgeries.  “When I told my wife the news, we both cried,” reflects Mr. Ye. “I said, ‘Son, you are going to get surgery!  And soon you will get to go outside and play!’”

The surgery was a success.  And now, Hao Teen smiles all the time.

“He grew so fast after the surgery! Now, he’s catching up to other kids his age,” says Mr. Ye. “He’s so happy. Every time I look at him, my heart melts.”

Mrs. Ye concludes, “He looks just like an angel. Thank You CBN. You brought hope to us when we were completely hopeless. Now all of our worries are gone!”
