When Desperation Finds Hope

A fresh start in a new city can sound exciting, but what happens when you’re followed by the same problems you thought you had left behind?

Lovina led a life of poverty in a rural Nigerian village.  She hoped life in a big city would be different.

“I applied for many jobs, but to get them, you had to have sex with the managers, and I refused,” says Lovina.

She desperately needed money for food and rent.  Friends suggested she turn to prostitution.

“I couldn’t.  I was brought up in the church, so I said no.”

That’s when Lovina saw the story of a woman named Mary on CBN’s Turning Point program.  Mary had suffered a lot until finally, she surrendered her life to Jesus. 

“The story of Mary is like that of Job.  I thought, if God can restore Mary’s life, He can also do it for me,” says Lovina.

Lovina accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.  The next day she received a phone call.

“A friend called and said I should come to Abasenjo Farm to start a new job.   I had not even applied for a job there!  I was very, very grateful,” smiles Lovina.

Lovina now works on a farm at a job she loves. 

“The day I watched the program my life changed.  It was a miracle that I got that job.  I want others to have the same blessings that I receive from watching CBN programs.”

But more important is Lovina’s relationship with God.

“I feel there is hope within me. I feel there is peace of heart within me.  I feel the joy of Christ within me.  Every day there’s reason to smile,” says Lovina.
