Under Attack: 12-Year-Old Koumba Survives Rebel Fight
By Operation Blessing International
MALI – Twelve-year-old Koumba was asleep in her bed when her home came under attack. Ammunition tore through the walls of their home and shrapnel pierced her skin.
The attack devastated their home, and took the life of her young brother.
Families like Koumba’s are struggling to survive as intense fighting between the government and rebel soldiers has displaced nearly a quarter million people. Many of these families are living as refugees in their own nation. Some are finally able to return safely to their cities—only to find their homes devastated.
Koumba and her mother came to CBN’s Operation Blessing emergency food distribution in their community where they received the supplies they need to feed their family for several weeks—staples like rice and beans.
