DISASTER RELIEF

Monsoon Season in Nepal Poses a New Challenge

KATHMANDU, Nepal - In Nepal, the rains have begun, indicating the start of the monsoon season. For families now living in makeshift tents after the devastating earthquake earlier this year, life has suddenly gotten much more difficult.

As the rain pours down on the camps, the ground has turned muddy. Residents dig drainage ditches to divert the water around their tents in hopes of keeping their families and their few belongings as dry as possible.

Operation Blessing is continuing to bring relief to these earthquake victims—especially safe, clean drinking water—a dire need in nearly every camp. OBI staff are also distributing much needed food, cooking supplies, blankets, mosquito nets and shelter supplies.

Operation Blessing is also sending a medical team into the mountainous regions of Nepal every week to treat the sick and injured in remote villages without access to healthcare.
