CBN.com – Esteban worries about his family and providing enough food for them. But mostly he wonders how he can find a better place to live in. For the past four years, this family of six has lived in a house with a ceiling so low that they couldn’t stand upright inside. And the house was also falling apart.
“The hardest times were when strong rains came and destroyed part of the roof,” Esteban says. “We got soaked. I felt helpless that I couldn’t protect my children.”
And a broken down rental house was all Esteban could afford. The hardworking couple gets up every morning at 3 a.m. to bake breads and pastries to sell in the market. But there never seemed to be enough money left over to move to a better place or repair the leaky roof.
Esteban says, “We use the money to pay for electricity, water and rent. There isn’t much left after that. I prayed to God with my whole heart, and I put my trust in the Lord. I said, ‘Lord, is there someone who might help get some leaves or wood to fix the house?’”
Esteban’s prayer was answered when Operation Blessing came to his community and offered to help. While he was at work, we built him a brand new house on a small plot of land owned by his family. Volunteers finished it in just one day.
“It seemed impossible! I was looking at my brand new house,” he says. “I’m so grateful to you. You have given me a new house to protect us while we sleep. My wife, my children are so thankful to you Operation Blessing."
