Little Dion started getting sick when he was a baby, and his parents, Deliaro and Ernie, didn’t know why.
“We took him to a doctor in the city two different times but he couldn’t diagnose what was wrong with him,” says Ernie.
“Our hearts were broken,” says Deliaro. “We were sad to see our son growing weaker each day.”
That’s when the family learned about a free Operation Blessing clinic. They brought their son to see the doctor. When the doctors first examined Dion, they diagnosed him with bronchitis and severe malnutrition.
“The bones in Dion’s hand and legs were showing — he couldn’t even stand up,” says Deliaro.
Operation Blessing immediately gave Dion an antibiotic and special formula to help him gain weight. When Operation Blessing came to their house for a follow up, they discovered why family members had been sick — filthy mattresses and no ventilation for a cooking fire inside the house.
So Operation Blessing bought the family new mattresses, cleaned and painted the old house, and built a platform for an outdoor kitchen.
“The love being given to us we cannot return,” says Ernie gratefully. “I thank you with all my heart.”
