CBN.com —Little Jason from El Salvador had gotten very sick with bronchitis, and his parents were desperate to help him. But they couldn’t even afford the bus ride to take him to a clinic in the city.
“My heart breaks when I see my kids get sick and I can’t buy them medicine or take them to a doctor,” remembers Ana, his mother. “I thought my son would die; he had a high temperature, but I had nothing to give him."
Jason’s father, Nelson, works on a farm and Ana does laundry. Together they make only enough to buy food—but not enough for medical emergencies.
“There are good and bad days,” Ana says. “Sometimes I make money and I go straight to the market to get milk, sugar, and flour.
But to buy food for the next day, Jason’s mom knew she had to keep working. So they asked Jason’s aunt to watch him.
That very day, Operation Blessing brought a medical team to town and Jason’s aunt took the boy for treatment. A doctor gave Jason a strong antibiotic, and when Ana returned she was stunned by what she found.
“When I left him—he was SO sick!” Ana explains. “Then I returned and found him healthy.”
Within two days Jason had completely recovered from the infection in his lungs.
To help Ana’s family to bring in a little extra money for future emergencies Operation Blessing bought them a new food cart. Business has been good.
“I want to thank Operation Blessing for everything you’ve given us,” says Ana excitedly. “We have a better life for our family.”
