CBN.com — Thirty-year old Lourdes was devastated when she learned that her husband had died.
"We miss him. He was a good father," says Lourdes.
But finding a way to feed their five children soon overshadowed Lourdes’ grief. And she was quickly running out of time.
"I tried," Lourdes explains, "but I could not find a job."
Tears became commonplace at the dinner table when the children went without food. Members of her church came by occasionally to bring food to Lourdes and her family, but that proved to be only a temporary solution. A more permanent solution came when the church contacted CBN's Operation Blessing for help. We set her up with a small business selling sandals, shoes, lotions, make-up and other clothing in her neighborhood.
"Now, with my new business, I can give my children whatever they needed... food, milk," Lourdes explains. "Before this, I was without a single dollar."
Because Operation Blessing taught her how to manage her new business, Lourdes is able to buy new items to resell.
"I thank Operation Blessing with all my heart," she says, "because you are a great blessing for me and my family."
