CBN.com —By the time he turned two, a large tumor had grown on the back of Franklin’s neck. His mother Olivia was shocked at how big it had gotten.
“I never thought that my baby would be born with something like this,” Franklin’s mother Olivia told us. “I thought he would die because of it.”
Villagers in this remote part of Guatemala thought the boy’s condition had been caused by witchcraft. Every time Franklin’s mother left their home, she was shunned by others, and feared for her son’s safety.
“The people in the village said there was a curse on my family. Others just ran away when they saw me with the baby. It was hard for me,” said Olivia.
Olivia’s husband told his wife to stop feeding their son and let him die. When she refused, he abandoned them.
“He went away and never came back. I had to raise my baby alone.”
One day, Olivia learned about Operation Blessing and went to ask for help. After some tests, a doctor diagnosed the condition and scheduled free surgery him for Franklin.
“I was so happy after my son had his operation.”
Two days later, they traveled back to their remote town.
Everyone was surprised to see that the growth was gone! It wasn’t long before Franklin recovered completely! Now he goes out to play with all the neighborhood children and Olivia knows her son is safe.
“I am so thankful for all the people and the doctors who made this miracle happen.
Thanks Operation Blessing, God bless you,” said Olivia with a smile.
