In the mountains of northeastern India, 81-year-old Zingnim loves teaching his 23 grandchildren reading and math. But he had to stop the lessons when the letters and numbers became too blurry for him to read.
“I felt sad when I looked at my grandchildren’s faces and told them that I was not able to help them with their studies,” says Zingnim.
Zingnim had cataracts in both of his eyes. With little money, he couldn’t do anything about it … so he prayed.
“My only hope was Jesus Christ, because there are no hospitals in my village,” says Zingnim. “And even if I could make it to one, I wouldn’t be able to pay the medical bills.”
Zingnim’s prayers were answered when Operation Blessing set up an eye camp in his village. Zingnim was told that he needed immediate surgery. Operation Blessing, in partnership with the Comprehensive Health Services and Research Center, gave Zingnim free cataract operations.
“Everything is part of God’s plan. God sent you here. My eyes will be healed because of God,” says Zingnim.
Zingnim’s cataracts were removed and replaced with lenses. His bandages were taken off the next day.
“Now, everything is so clear,” says Zingnim. I am able to read books, and teach my grandchildren. I can tell them stories. I can watch them play. I can’t express my happiness in words. God bless you!”
