CBN.com -Phromsit’s mother is a single parent struggling to provide enough food for her growing son. So one day when a friend asked Phromsit to steal some fish from a neighbor’s pond to eat, the youngster agreed.
“My friend said there were a lot of big fish there,” Phromsit told us. “I was very excited.”
But Phromsit didn’t realize he would be running for his life when a worker came after them with a machete. The boys escaped, but the Phromsit’s mother wondered what would happen next.
“I am afraid for him,” she said. “I am afraid he will come to harm. I want him to have a better life.”
So when Phromsit’s mother heard about a Christian children’s home in Thailand where she lives, she asked if they would help her to raise her son. In the past, CBN’s Orphans Promise helped renovate the home and provided money for a new roof and beds. More recently we taught the children how to grow their own food, and provided funds to start a fish farm for the kids to have fish to eat. Phromsit especially likes helping with the fish farm and having enough to eat!
“I enjoy mealtimes with my new friends. And when I want to eat fish, I don’t have to steal it,” he said with a sheepish grin.
At the children’s home, Phromsit learned about Jesus through TV programs produced by CBN. Soon, he prayed to become a Christian.
During school breaks, Phromsit visits his mom, and she also comes to see him at the home.
“He is very considerate now,” she said. “When he comes home he asks me ‘how are you mom? Are you tired?’ And he helps me with the chores. Thank you very much CBN for all you’ve done for us.”
“Being here is a blessing from God,” Phromsit told us. “I know that he has a good plan for my life. I thank Him for bringing CBN to help us!”
