CBN.com — Because of a serious medical condition, Sandy, 7, cannot go to school like her brother. Instead, she has to stay with her mom while she goes to work.
"I stopped going to school because I have a bad heart," Sandy told CBN.
Sandy was born with a hole in her heart. That has made it difficult for her to breathe or do any physical activity.
"I feel pain in my chest. When I play, I get tired easily. I just sit down most of the time," said Sandy.
"One night, she was breathing so hard I rushed her to the hospital. I thought I was going to lose her," her mother Alexandra told us. "Sometimes I wished her sickness was like a dress. I would have taken it and worn it in her place," she added through her tears. "It's so hard to see her suffer."
Alexandra and her husband knew that heart surgery could save their daughter's life. But their combined income could barely pay for medicine.
When someone from CBN's Orphans Promise met Sandy, we prayed for her and arranged for her to have free surgery to repair the hole in her heart. After the operation, we also gave her follow-up care and medicine.
"The pain in my chest is gone, and I don't feel tired," said Sandy happily.
"My daughter is alive!" said Alexandra. "She looks and feels great even when she plays the whole day. I really thank God for CBN."
