CBN.com - At a time when most young teens are meant to go to school or play games with their friends, these children are having babies. The youngest of the group had her baby just after she turned 11 years old.
Each of these children was the victim of abuse, which resulted in pregnancy.
The government removed the girls from their abusive homes, and took them to a place that looked and felt very much like an institution. It is a safe place, but the girls told me as I sat and talked to them that it doesn’t feel like home.
CBN’s Orphan’s Promise knew just how to help. We found a large house for the girls to live in, painted it, furnished it, and gave it the name Promise House.
We were there to surprise the girls as they got off the bus and walked through the doors of their new home for the first time.
“It’s pretty,” says one of the girls as she explores the house.
The bedrooms are decked out with cribs with mosquito netting to protect the babies from malaria. The dining room table has room for everyone, so we had a pizza party to celebrate. For the girls it is a dream fulfilled.
“Promise House is a beautiful safe home where these girls will learn what it means to be family, how to be mothers to their babies, and they’ll finish their educations while someone watches out for their children,” says 700 Club’s Terry Meeuwsen. “Promise House will help them to break the cycle of abuse and prepare them for their futures.”
“God’s Word says He will be a father to the fatherless and at that He’ll put the lonely in families,” she says. “These girls don’t yet know how to say, ‘Thank you’ so let me say it for them. Thank you, CBN Partners. Thank you for making Promise House a reality.”
