CBN.com —The fire destroyed almost everything. Leo and his grandfather barely escaped with their lives.
“It was a huge fire,” said Leo, 11. “The roof, the doors, and all our belongings were destroyed,” he continued wiping away tears.
Leo lives with his grandfather because his mother abandoned him and his father is in prison.
“My grandpa is a great man,” said Leo with a great deal of pride in his eyes. “Everybody knows him in the village and loves him. Sometimes we go to collect wood together, and we like to go to a park too.”
Grandpa Raul earns money selling candy and by serving as a handyman at a nearby villa. Unfortunately, his income is so low that he can barely buy them enough food. Replacing the roof and door after the fire was not an option. Replacing the faulty wiring which caused the fire was also impossible.
“I would do anything for my grandson,” Raul said. “But it has been so hard.”
So CBN's Operation Blessing brought the needed materials to replace the roof and door. We also rewired the house and added a breaker box to prevent future fires.
“It feels so good to know that the house is repaired and safe!” Grandpa said.
“When we saw it we were full of smiles!” Leo added.
Operation Blessing also delivered a new cart and supplies for Grandpa to sell food and drinks near their home.
“I’m not as young as I used to be, so this new food cart will really help us!” Raul said.
“Thanks Operation Blessing! You have changed our lives!” said Leo with a big smile.
