CBN.com – Bob and Nicole Schwartz, with their young son, Joshua, live in the quiet suburbs of Marietta, Pennsylvania.

In 1997, math whiz and the young entrepreneur Nicole fell in love.  She was a young math education college student at Elizabethtown College.

Bob was an outgoing young businessman in the same city. They married on September 23, 2000.

Bob and Nicole own a successful magazine called The Home Business Advertiser.

“It’s a magazine that is kind of like a match-maker between people who are offering work from home—opportunities like direct sales and network marketing—to people who are looking for them,” Bob said. “So it’s kind of like the bridge between those two people.” 

While business is booming now, things weren’t always looking up for Bob. He was plagued by years of stress and anxiety.

“When I was young, my parents and my family went through a bankruptcy where we lost everything. We lost our house and our cars and just went through a real trying time,” Bob said. “It was the time before that and after that that was tough.” 

Bob had a heart attack. He survived, but the stress of making their business work was still taking its toll. But when Bob and Nicole started to give in obedience to God’s Word, something amazing happened.

“It was $300 our first month, so we gave $30,” Bob said. “The next month we made $900, so we gave $90. And then in our fourth month we made over $4,000, so we gave $400.”

Bob and Nicole’s magazine, The Home Business Advertiser, started to explode. While their business took off, Bob and Nicole prayed for God to specifically direct their giving.

“It came to our hearts that we should just be giving to the people who have the greatest need,” Nicole said. “Then when we saw the piece on the wells one night on The 700 Club, we just thought to ourselves, ‘Wow, that’s it!’ These people don’t even have water to drink.”

And when they gave to CBN, they couldn’t believe what happened.

“The very next month our magazine made $10,000, which it had never done before,” Bob said.

“That was a fivefold increase in our profits, and that just blew us away,” Nicole said. “We really didn’t expect that.”

While they prayed and continued to give, something else started to change.

“When we started to give first to God, that’s when the blessings and the deliverance really started to happen in our lives,” Bob said. “I mean He delivered me from the fear of ever having to worry about money.”

Now their magazine is growing by leaps and bounds. 

“The issue that we just closed now was our biggest issue ever,” Bob said.
“Each time we give, He blesses us more abundantly than we could’ve guessed,” Nicole said. 

Bob agreed. “I show up for work every day, and make my calls and answer the phone, and call people, but God is blessing us with a business that is bigger than we are.”

Bob and Nicole discovered a powerful truth from God’s Word. Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (NIV)
