CBN.com - Richard Hines never dreamed he would own a trucking company.  He says that’s because it wasn’t his idea.

"It’s like the Holy Spirit began to speak to me in a way that I cannot even explain it," said Richard.  "I just knew it was God telling me, you need to get your CDL (commercial driver's license)."

Up to that point, Richard had been working as an electrician, a trade he picked up after coming to the U.S. from Jamaica.  He had also given his life to Christ.

Richard explained, "It changed me as a person.  It changed my life, my perspective on life."

It also changed his view on money.

He said, "I received a sense of giving is more rewarding than receiving, so I started tithing."

Even with the ups and downs of his trade, he always gave to his church and other charities.

"Sometimes I would even bring home a check of $24," remembers Richard. "But I would tithe out of everything and I’ve seen God’s faithfulness, because I’ve faithfully tithed as the Word of God said."

Later, he took a step of faith and got his commercial drivers' license.  He landed a job making long hauls for a trucking company.

He explained, "It was about two years later. The economy crashed.  And when the economy crashed, I had already been driving trucks for two years.  It was a blessing, because had I been doing electrical work, I would’ve lost everything."

A few years later, Richard says God led him to buy a truck and start his own business.

"He has proven Himself, because not only did the income go up, the business is sustaining itself," Richard points out.

With the extra income, Richard started giving more to ministries, including CBN.

He enthusiastically said, "It gives me an opportunity to show the love of Christ to those who are hurting.  When I look at Operation Blessing and I see these children smiling and joy and jumping and drinking the water, they’re running and playing in it, it’s like they receive a million dollars! Who wouldn’t want to have that joy in their heart? Who wouldn’t want to see that on a child’s face?"

Richard understands that God's blessings come when we're obedient to His Word.

"The Bible says for us to give and it shall be given onto you," said Richard.  "When you do that, it's a blessing.  It's a reward that is unspeakable."

Being obedient to God's truth made an incredible difference for Richard. He made himself available for God's love to flow through him to others, and he is reaping a blessing himself as well.
