CBN.com - Terry Funchess loves being a grandmother and spending time with her family. But when her daughter was young, Terry faced the reality of divorce and becoming a single mom. “It was my job to go and get myself income coming in so that I’d be able to support my daughter. It scared me to death.”
She found hope in a decision she made years earlier. “I came to the Lord through Pat Robertson, saying the sinner’s prayer.”
She joined the 700 Club when she saw what CBN was doing around the world. “They do a lot for the world and people. People walk two, three, four, five miles just to get water that’s not even clean. For the little that we can give – it’s like we’re doing tons. It makes me feel good to know that there’s children drinking water.”
She knew her giving helped people in need, but Terry now faced financial uncertainty in her own life. “I had this little girl that I had to take care of.”
She believed it was important to send her daughter to a Christian school, so she stepped out in faith and started her own bookkeeping business to boost her income. “It was difficult at the beginning. When things did get tight for me, people would say, ‘Well why don’t you just take your daughter out of school?’ or ‘Why don’t you just stop giving to your church?’ They weren’t options. You just keep giving it, and as you give, God will bring.”
Terry says that as she gave her business increased. “The Lord blessed it, and through that I believe it’s because of the offerings and tithing and He just honored my heart. So He’s just always been there providing for me.”
“You need to use what you have and to help other people. You just don’t know the impact you can have on somebody’s life. And I have a real heart for that and that’s why I so believe in what they do.
