CBN.com - When it gets hot in West Monroe, Louisiana, folks like to head over to Debbie’s Snowballs for a cold treat. In 2012, the duck commander crew from A&E’s Duck Dynasty stopped by to cool off.
Debbie Callaway started the business in 2005. She came up with some pretty unique flavors.
Debbie says, “We have frog in a blender. And it is great. We have swamp water. You’re in Louisiana!”
She also started with a mission.
Debbie remembers, “I held up my finger to God one day and I said we’re going to save the world one snowball at a time.”
It may sound like a tall order for a snow cone stand but when Debbie gives to CBN she knows she is doing just that. Sometimes it’s close to home.
Debbie shares, “When Katrina hit New Orleans, who showed up? Operation Blessing! And they stayed there and helped those people pull their lives back together and rebuild.”
Debbie has always tithed off her income, even when her business was only making $35 a day.
Debbie says, “It was just what you were supposed to do. We wanted the blessings of God in our lives and on our businesses and on our jobs.”
For a while, business was slow, until Debbie decided to give more to CBN.
Debbie recalls, “I increased the giving and after 3 days, we went to $100 a day. And then we just kept going. We kept giving and we just kept going. And the more I gave, after 3 and 4 days, then I noticed we were getting busier and busier.”
Mostly, Debbie knew that extra money to CBN would help change lives.
Debbie says, “I was more excited about the people who were getting saved. It was every program.”
The stand was doing so well that in 2009, her husband Ted left his full time job to help out with daily operations. Appearing on Duck Dynasty gave them even more customers.
Debbie says, “We have so many people from every state coming just to see what a snowball is and to taste the ice cream.”
Today, they have expanded to 6 locations. They make 3-4 times more than they did when they were both working full time jobs. Debbie says tithing and giving to CBN is the key to their success, and for helping change the world.
Debbie says, “I encourage you, if you’re not giving, you need to start today. We are supposed to be a blessing to others. Just trust Him. Just see what He does. And He will come through.”
Being obedient to God's truth made an incredible difference for Debbie. She made herself available for God's love to flow through her to others, and she is reaping a blessing herself as well.
