Music Inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia

CBN.comOpen the wardrobe door and enter C. S. Lewis’ enchanted land with EMI Music’s new collection album, Music Inspired by The Chronicles of Narnia. The who’s who in Christian music come together on this new CD inspired by the classic tale of two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve who change the course of a bewitched kingdom. It features 11 original songs from Steven Curtis Chapman, Nichole Nordeman, Kutless, Rebecca St. James, Chris Tomlin, and more contemporary artists.

Chronicles of Narnia fans who are anxiously waiting for the December 9th release of Disney’s The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe will enjoy passing the time listening to this great album. Even those who haven’t experienced this timeless tale will love the unique sounds and inspirational lyrics that tell a part of the beloved adventure through reflection and response in every artists own musical way.

GRAMMY award-winning band Jars of Clay brings their lyrical talents to this project in their original song, “Waiting for the World to Fall.” This smooth folk-rock style “talks about wanting to be removed from maybe our regular, mundane, or gray life,” lead singer Dan Haseltine said.

The David Crowder Band adds a disco-flavored song that points to things in life we would betray God to have. “Turkish Delight” is a beat-driven tune with its straight-forward lyrics that confess to loving the things of this world too much. Another favorite is tobyMac’s rockin’ song, “New World,” which gets to the heart of what Lucy discovers in the spare room of Professor Kirke’s old country house.

Rocker Jeremy Camp shares his powerful voice and message through his song, “Open Your Eyes.” This track is from Edmund’s perspective, and talks of the selfish desires he had that caused him to forget about the people he would hurt. It is about “opening up your eyes to see the warning signals of ‘don’t get involved in this, this could lead to danger.’ To really see beyond the blinders of the selfish things that we want to do, that get in the way sometimes,” Jeremy said.

Each track touches on a different part of Lewis’ story, and brings it to life through great music and strong lyrics. This album mixes different song styles for listeners, from the popular rock sound of Kutless to the strong ballad style of Nichole Nordeman.
