Pat Robertson Commits to Stand with Israel at Day of Prayer for Jerusalem

By Nena Benigno
CBN Correspondent

CBN.com -- Dr. Pat Robertson, accompanied by CBN supporters, pledged to stand in solidarity with Israel at the recent International Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem.

In a message that drew a standing ovation from the gathered crowd, Dr. Robertson said:

"To our Jewish friends, we say, we are with you in your struggle. We are with you as a wave of anti-Semitism is engulfing the earth. We are with you despite the pressure of France and the “quartette” and the incredibly hostile resolutions of the United Nations. We are with you despite the threats and ravings of Wahabi Jihadists, Hizbollah thugs, and Hamas assassins. We are with you despite oil embargoes, loss of allies, and terrorist attacks on our cities. We evangelical Christians say to our Israeli friends, let us serve our God together by opposing the virulent poison of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism that is rapidly engulfing the world.

"I’ve been to Israel many times -- I’ve lost count of how many times. But I was here on Christmas day 1974. It was my pleasure at that time to do a television interview with then Prime Minister Itzhak Rabin. As I talked to him --it was during the height of the Arab oil embargo -- I sensed in his eyes and in his voice a profound sadness. I sensed that Israel at that time was very much alone. In America and all over the world, oil was more important than our love for Israel. I said to him, 'What message do you have for the United States of America?' He thought for a minute and he said, 'Be strong. Be strong.’ Now I say that to our Israeli friends, in this hour of testing and trial, be strong.

"When I left his office, I went to the Intercontinental Hotel on the Mount of Olives, and there was a large group of Americans with us. As I looked down on those big picture windows over the illuminated Temple Mount, I made a vow before God that whatever happens, however unpleasant it might be, whatever enemies might arise, whatever the cost, I and the ministries that I was in charge of would stand with Israel. After 30 years, I am pleased to say I have kept that pledge.

"There is a wonderful message in Isaiah 62 -- ‘I have posted watchmen on your walls O Jerusalem. They will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest and give Him no rest till He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.’ Then He says, ‘I will extend peace to her like a river and the wealth of nations will come streaming to her. Arise, for you light has come. Morning has come upon you.’

"I think we are here to announce that the favor and blessing of God Almighty is upon this land and we will pray. God says 'give Him no rest,' and we will give Him no rest until the day that He establishes Jerusalem and makes it His capital and His praise throughout all the nations of the earth."
