After John was let go from his job, he wondered how he could feed his family of six. Little did he realize that you were a part of his answer. Read Transcript

Reporter: AFTER

SPENDING TWO DECADES AS A

COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT

REPAIRMAN, JOHN MOORE CAN

FIX JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING.

I NEVER MET A PIECE OF

EQUIPMENT I COULDN'T

REPAIR.

Reporter: BUT A FEW

MONTHS AGO HIS BOSS CAME

OVER AND HE FACED A PROBLEM

HE COULDN'T FIX.

HE CAME OVER, I SHOOK HIS

HAND, GREETED HIM AND SAID,

WHAT WAS UP.

HE TOLD ME THEY WERE LETTING

ME GO.

Reporter: JOHN WAS LAID

OFF, DUE TO RESTRUCTURING.

HE WAS WITHOUT AN INCOME TO

PROVIDE FOR HIS FAMILY OF

SIX.

HIS WIFE, YVONNE, WAS

RECENTLY HIT BY A CAR IN A

PARKING LOT, AND CONTINUES

TO RECOVER FROM HER

INJURIES.

JOHN PICKS UP SCRAP METAL

AND DISCARDED STUFF HE CAN

RESTORE AND SELL.

WITH THE HELP OF GOD, I

CAN FIND A WAY TO DO IT.

WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S TRASH, I

CAN FIND A WAY TO SUPPORT MY

FAMILY.

Reporter: BUT IT STILL

WASN'T ENOUGH.

MANY MONTHS, I HAD THE

CHOICE OF SHOULD I KEEP THE

POWER ON OR FEED MY FAMILY.

Reporter: MARY RUNS

"FEED THE HUNGRY" OUT OF HER

GARAGE.

SHE PROVIDES TO 900 FAMILIES

A MONTH.

"OPERATION BLESSING" GIVES

MARY MOST OF THE FOOD AND

SUPPLIES SHE USES TO MEET

THE AREA'S INCREASING NEED.

IT IS NOT JUST THE ONE

OUT ON THE STREET BEGGING

FOR MONEY.

IT IS PEOPLE THAT HAVE NEVER

HAD TO ASK FOR ANYTHING

THEIR ENTIRE LIVES.

WE'VE HAD PEOPLE IN THE

BACK -- WE WANT THEM TO

SMILE.

WE WANT THEM TO THINK GOD

LOVES YOU.

Reporter: THE MOORES

SAY THE FOOD IS A BIG HELP.

BETWEEN JOHN'S HARD WORK AND

THE SUPPORT OF "OPERATION

BLESSING," IT IS ENOUGH TO

KEEP THIS FAMILY GOING.

IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

KNOWING YOU HAVE SOMETHING

YOU CAN COOK, AND YOU DON'T

HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE KIDS

GOING HUNGRY.

IT HAS BEEN A LIFELINE TO

US.

IT HAS TRULY BROUGHT ME BACK

TO FEELING LIKE I AM

BLESSED.

WELL, I LOST MY JOB AND I

FOUND THERE ARE THINGS I

NEED.

I NEED MY WIFE.

I NEED MY KIDS.

I NEED MY GOD.

Reporter: THE MOORES

SAY THEY APPRECIATE "FEED

THE HUNGRY," AND "OPERATION

BLESSING."

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY

PEOPLE YOU HELP.

IT VIRTUALLY KEEPS PEOPLE

GOING.
