This culinary team shares slow cooking techniques that anyone can incorporate. Read Transcript

Terry: WHEN JENNA GOT

PREGNANT WITH HER SECOND

CHILD, SHE NEEDED A WAY TO

FEED HER FAMILY WITHOUT

GETTING EXHAUSTED.

SO SHE TEAMED UP WITH HER

GOOD FRIEND AND FELLOW MOM,

PUT TOGETHER SOME RECIPES

AND WATCHED THEIR WORK GO

VIRAL.

Reporter: JENNA FOUND

COOKING IN CROCKPOTS SAVED

TIME AND ENERGY.

SO SHE STARTED USING ONE

WHILE EXPECTING HER SECOND

CHILD.

SOON HER FRIEND SUGGESTED

THEY START OUT CROCKING

GIRLFRIEND'S REPIECE.

SURPRISINGLY, THEY GOT OVER

500,000 LIKES IN TWO WEEKS.

SINCE THEN, THESE MAMAS

WRAPPED UP THEIR SLOW

COOKING RECIPES SO THERE IS

SLOW COOKING AND MORE

PLAYING.

Terry: WE WANT TO THANK

YOU FOR BEING ON THE

PROGRAM.

TELL US HOW YOUR FRIENDSHIP

STARTED.

I ACTUALLY GREW UP WITH

STANTON, WHICH IS JENNA'S

HUSBAND.

WHEN THEY GOT MARRIED, MY

HUSBAND, CHRIS, AND I WERE

ATTENDING THE CHURCH.

THEY GOT MARRIED AND WE

FOUND OUT WE WERE EXPECTING

AT THE SAME TIME.

SO THAT REALLY BONDED US

WHEN WE HAD OUR BABIES ON

THE SAME DAY.

Terry: SO YOU HAD SOME

OF THE SAME DILEMMAS, AS FAR

AS BEING ABLE TO PROVIDE

FOOD IN AN EASY AND

EFFICIENT MANNER FOR YOUR

BABIES.

YOU SAY THESE LITTLE

BEAUTIES, THE CROCKPOT, ARE

THE SINGLE MOST AMAZING

APPLIANCE EVER MADE.

WE LOVE THEM.

IT WASN'T JUST NICOLE AND I

STRUGGLING.

EVERY MOM FEELS GUILTY IF

YOU DON'T HAVE FOOD ON THE

TABLE.

IF YOU HAVE YOUR DINNER

GOING AT 11:00 OR 10:00, OR

BEFORE YOU LEAVE FOR WORK IN

THE MORNING, THAT IS ONE

LESS STRESS AS A MOM THAT

YOU HAVE.

AND IT IS A PAT ON THE

BACK WHEN EVERYBODY GETS TO

SIT DOWN AND ENJOY A MEAL

TOGETHER.

Terry: AND THAT IS

INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO DO

IN TODAY'S CULTURE WITH

EVERYBODY RUNNING AROUND.

SO IF YOU CAN JUST PRESENT

IT, THAT IS HALF THE

BATTLE.

I THINK EVERYONE IS

CRAVING SIMPLICITY IN THEIR

LIVES.

AWAY WE CAN FIND THAT IN OUR

LIVES --

Terry: SIMPLICITY AND

THE KIND OF FAMILY TIME

YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.

DEFINITELY.

Terry: TALK ABOUT THE

NUTRITION OF THIS.

EVERYBODY IS INTO THAT.

ARE THESE HEALTHY MEALS?

THEY'RE HEALTHY MEALS.

THEY'RE YUMMY AND GOOD.

ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN

HITTING THAT DRIVE-THROUGH.

AND WE HAVE A CROCK AND

LIGHT RECIPES ON OUR WEBSITE.

Terry: AND YOU HAVE A

CROCKING GIRLS CLUB.

WE HAVE A WEEKLY VIDEO.

WE STARTED THIS PAGE WITH

THE IDEA, LET'S ALL COOK THE

SAME THING ON MONDAY.

CROCKING MONDAY.

SO ON FRIDAY, WE SEND YOU AN

INGREDIENT LIST, AND YOU CAN

GO SHOPPING OVER THE

WEEKEND, AND THEN ON SUNDAY,

WE GIVE YOU YOU THE VIDEO

LINK, AND WE CAN HAVE THE

SAME MEAL ON MONDAY.

TERY

Terry: YOU ARE REALLY

DOING THE LEG WORK.

AND IT'S FUN.

Terry: YOUR COOKBOOK,

BY THE WAY, IS REALLY FUN TO

READ.

IT IS BEAUTIFULLY DONE.

AND IT HAS LOTS OF WONDERFUL

IDEAS FOR MEALS.

SOMETIMES YOU SEE A GREAT

COOKBOOK, BUT YOU THINK, MY

FAMILY IS NOT GOING TO EAT

THAT.

THESE ARE VERY

FAMILY-ORIENTED RECIPES.

I LIKE THAT.

WE'RE GOING TO START WITH

BREAKFAST.

TELL US WHAT WE'RE DOING

HERE, NICOLE.

THIS IS OUR MORNING

CASSEROLE.

YOU CAN FIND ALL OF THESE

RECIPES IN OUR COOKBOOK, THE

SLOW COOKING COMPANION.

I LOVE TO MAKE BREAKFAST.

YOU KNOW, I'M NOT MUCH OF A

MORNING PERSON, SO I CAN PUT

THIS ON AT NIGHT, BEFORE I

GO TO BED, AND IT COOKS ALL

NIGHT LONG, AND WE WAKE UP

AND WE HAVE BREAKFAST

READY.

JENNA, I'M GOING TO GET YOU

TO WISK THIS FOR ME.

IT

IS EGGS AND MILK.

WE'RE GOING TO LAYER, AND

WE'RE

GOING

TO

SPRAY THIS

SLOW COOKER.

Terry: I LOVE THAT

PARTICULAR CROCKPOT.

IT'S THE ONE I HAVE.

YOU CAN

LIST IT

RIGHT OUT OF

THERE AND PUT IT ON YOUR

TABLE.

YES.

WE SHARED A PICTURE ON OUR

Facebook PAGE, AND SOMEONE

SAID, I DIDN'T KNOW YOU

COULD SERVE OUT OF IT.

YES, DON'T DIRTY ANOTHER

DISH.

ALL RIGHT, WE'VE GOT SOME

HASHED BROWNS, SOME BACON,

AND YOU CAN USE SAUSAGE AS

WELL -- WHATEVER MEAT YOU

PREFER.

Terry: AND THOSE ARE

PEPPERS?

BELL PEPPERS.

AND, YOU KNOW, WE LIKE TO

SNEAK VEGGIES IN ANY TIME WE

CAN IN WITH OUR KIDDOS.

Terry: MY KIDS ARE IN

THEIR 20s, AND I STILL

LIKE TO SNEAK THEM IN.

AND WE ALSO MAKE ONE THAT

HAS SPINACH IN IT AND, AND

THAT IS REALLY YUMMY.

AND YOU CAN LAYER THIS IF

YOU WANT TO.

POUR THOSE EGGS RIGHT OVER

THIS.

Terry: THIS IS THE TYPE

OF RECIPE THAT CAN BE

ADAPTED TO BECOME LARGER,

DEPENDING ON YOUR CROWD.

YES.

AND SOME CHEESE -- WHO

DOESN'T LIKE CHEESE.

Terry: I'M A WISCONSIN

GIRL.

WE'RE ALL ABOUT THE CHEESE.

AND WE'LL ADD A LITTLE

BIT OF SALT AND PEPPER.

THIS WILL JUST COOK

OVERNIGHT.

SOMETIMES WE LIKE TO HAVE

BREAKFAST AT NIGHT, TOO.

EIGHT HOURS ON LOW.

Terry: THAT LOOKS GOOD,

BUT THIS SMELLS GOOD BECAUSE

IT IS ALL DONE.

YES.

SO AFTER YOU'VE EATEN THIS,

AND YOU WANT TO DO A LITTLE

LEFTOVERS --

Terry: YOU'RE GOING TO

MAKE A MAKEOVER.

YES.

LET'S SAY YOU MAKE A BUNCH.

AND WE HAVE FOUR, TWO ADULTS

AND TWO KIDS IN OUR FAMILY,

SO WE HAVE LEFTOVERS.

AND WE MIGHT NOT WANT TO EAT

THIS AGAIN AS A CASSEROLE.

WHAT I LIKE TO DO -- MY

HUSBAND IS A SCHOOL

ADMINISTRATOR, AND HE IS OUT

THE DOOR BEFORE I EVER THINK

ABOUT GETTING GOING IN THE

MORNING.

SO IF I HAVE SOME BREAKFAST

BURRITOS READY FOR HIM, I

FEEL LIKE, HEY, I JUST MADE

HIM SOME BREAKFAST.

Terry: SO YOU'RE

ACTUALLY TAKING THE

LEFTOVERS AND YOU'RE PUTTING

IT IN A TORTILLA.

IN A TORTILLA, AND WE

MIGHT ADD A LITTLE EXTRA

CHEESE.

YOU'RE GOING TO FOLD IT UP

AND ROLL THAT BUYE BER

BURRITO, AND YOU CAN PUT IT

IN A BAGGY OR FRIG,

DEPENDING ON HOW LONG YOU

NEED TO.

Terry: AND SO YOU'VE

GOT A BREAKFAST MEAL FOR

MORE THAN ONE DAY.

RIGHT.

Terry: WHAT'S THIS,

BECAUSE THIS IS -- WOW!

THIS IS POTATO SOUP.

WE'RE FROM TEXAS, SO THE

FIRST HINT OF COLD WEATHER,

WE LIKE US SOME SOUP.

SO WE HAVE A BAKED POTATO

SOUP.

I'M GOING TO LADLE IT.

YOU HAVE A NICE LITTLE BREAD

BOWL.

WE LOVE THAT.

Terry: THAT'S AWESOME.

I LOVE POTATO SOUP

BECAUSE IT IS HEARTY ENOUGH

TO HAVE AS A FULL MEAL.

Terry: IT IS KIND OF

FUN.

YOU'VE GOT ALL OF THE

TOPPINGS HERE, SO PEOPLE CAN

MAKE IT WHAT THEY WANT IT TO

BE.

LIKE A BAKED POTATO.

MY KIDDOS WILL EAT IT

BETTER

IF THEY

FEEL LIKE

THEY'VE HAD SOME HANDS-ON.

SO THIS IS KIND OF LIKE

HAVING A LOADED BAKED POTATO

WITH ALL OF THE TOPPINGS.

Terry: THAT IS AWESOME,

WONDERFUL.

IT IS GETTING TO BE -- IT

DOESN'T FEEL LIKE IT, BUT

FALL IS ON THE RISE.

SO IT IS A HEARTY SOUP FOR

THE FAMILY.

IS THIS CALLED HURRY UP

CHICKEN?

IT IS CALLED CHICK IN A

HURRY.

AND IT LITERALLY DOESN'T

TAKE ANY TIME TO FIX AT

ALL.

THIS IS ANOTHER LONG

RECIPE.

IT COOKS FOR EIGHT HOURS,

BUT YOU JUST DUMP ALL OF THE

INGREDIENTS IN THERE AND LET

IT COOK ALL DAY.

Terry: THE GREAT THING

ABOUT THE CROCKPOT, EVEN

AFTER IT COOKS, IT JUST GOES

TO WARM.

THE AUTO SWITCH IS

GREAT.

AND ANOTHER THING WE LIKE

TO DO WITH THIS RECIPE IS

PREPARE IT, FREEZE IT.

DON'T COOK IT YET.

JUST PUT IT IN A BAGGY,

FREEZE IT, AND POP IT IN

YOUR SLOW COOKER IN THE

MORNING --

AND IT ADDS AN EXTRA TWO

HOURS TO YOUR COOK TIME.

Terry: I HAD NO IDEA

YOU COULD MAKE BROWNIES IN A

CROCKPOT.

TELL ME ABOUT THIS BECAUSE

WE'RE DOWN TO DESSERT.

WE ARE CHOCOLATE-LOVERS.

Terry: WHO ISN'T, MAY I

JUST SAY.

THERE ARE MANY DESSERTS

IN HERE, AND A LOT OF THEM

ARE CHOCOLATE.

THIS IS JUST A FUDGE

BROWNIE.

IT IS REALLY SIMPLE.

ALL OF THESE INGREDIENTS

WILL BE ON HAND.

Terry: LOOK HOW PRETTY,

WHEN YOU CAN JUST, AGAIN,

GIVE YOUR FAMILY A CHANCE TO

MAKE THEIR OWN DESSERT

CREATION.

IT LOOKS WONDERFUL.

AND THE ONLY THING PRETTIER

THAN THE DESSERT IS THE

COOKBOOK.

IT IS FILLED WITH THE

RECIPES, WRITTEN BY JENNA

AND NICOLE, AND ATTACHING

FEATURING CONTRIBUTIONS FROM

MANY OF THEIR FRIENDS.

IT IS GOING TO GIVE YOU AN

OPPORTUNITY TO COOK WELL FOR

YOUR FAMILY AND STILL HAVE

GREAT QUALITY TIME WITH

THEM.

BY THE WAY, WE MENTIONED

THIS EARLIER, BUT IF YOU

WANT TO KEEP UP WITH THE

LATEST FROM THE CROCKING

GIRLS, LIKE THEIR

Facebook, IT IS AT

Facebook.COM/HAPPYCROCK I

Facebook.COM/HAPPYCROCKI
