BEFORE 2009, DL AND DEBORAH

LIVED LARGE.

DEBORAH WAS A REAL ESTATE AGE

AND DL HAD A BODY SHOP.

STAYING HOME WITH THE CHILDREN.

I WAS ABOUT NEXT DEAL.

AND DEBORAH'S DEALS PAID OFF.

AND BOUGHT TWO PROPERTIES TO

SELL THOSE.

REAL ESTATE OF BOOMING.

BANKS WERE HANDING OUT MONEY

LEFT AND RIGHT.

AND AS THEY GREW, SO DID

THEIR HOMES.

WE BECAME CONSUMED WHAT WE

NEEDED TO BE HAPPY.

IT WAS BASICALLY STUFF.

IN 2009 THE MARKET CRASHES

AND THEIR BUSINESSES DRIED UP

OVER NIGHT.

ALL THE BUILDERS WE WORKED

WITH QUIT OR BANKRUPT OR BOTH.

IT WAS LIKE ONE DAY IT WAS FINE

AND THE NEXT DAY IT DIED.

THEY WERE BURIED IN DEBT.

THREE OR FOUR OR FIVE MILLION

DOLLAR S WE WERE IN DEBT.

CAUSED A FEAR, ALMOST A

PANIC.

THEY TRIED TO PAY THEIR

BILLS, DEBORAH CHANGED HER REAL

ESTATE APPROACH AND DL HAD TO

WORK ON THE PORT.

DECLARED A LOSS AND THEN

DECLARED BANKRUPTCY.

WHEN THEY MOVED INTO A 1,000

SQUARE FOOT HOME.

THEY FELT DEFEATED.

OUR MARRIAGE WAS IN A

SHAMBLES.

WE PUT GOD ON THE BACK BURNER.

THAT'S WHEN WE KNEW WE HAD NO

PEACE IN OUR HOME.

THAT'S WHEN WE FOCUSED ON

GOD.

WE MADE A COMMITMENT TO EACH

OTHER AND GOD, THAT WE WOULD

FOLLOW HIM NO MATTER WHAT.

DL AND DEBORAH DID AGREE ON

ONE THING, TO KEEP ON TITHING

DESPITE THEIR DIFFICULTIES.

THEY BEGAN TO WATCH THE "700

CLUB" AND BECAME PARTNERS.

THERE WERE SO MANY STORIES ON

THERE THAT GAVE ME HOPE.

THAT PEOPLE HAD GONE THROUGH THE

SAME EXPERIENCES WE HAD GONE

THROUGH.

IT ENCOURAGED US.

WITH THEIR NEW FOCUS AMAZING

THINGS HAPPENED IN THAT HOME.

IT HEALED US.

MOVING TO A SMALLER HOME AND

HAVING LESS PRESSURE ENABLED US

TO APPRECIATE THE REAL THINGS.

THE IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE.

DEBORAH'S BUSINESS EVENTUALLY

STARTED TO REBOUND.

THE ITHIN TWO YEARS OF

BANKRUPTCY, THEY BOUGHT A LARGER

HOME.

TODAY THEY REMAIN FOCUSED ON

GOD.

GOD HAD DOUBLE-DOGGED DARED

ME TO TRY THIS ONE AND SEE IF I

DON'T POUR YOU OUT A BLESSING.

OUR FINANCES HAVE BEEN

RESTORED AND I BELIEVE IT'S

BECAUSE WE CONTINUED TO TITHE

AND PUTTING GOD FIRST.
