REPORTER: GETTING DRAFTED BY

A MAJOR LEAGUE CLUB OUT OF HIGH

SCHOOL IS EVERY PITCHER'S DREAM.

FOR JEREMY IT WAS A REALITY.

BASEBALL IS SOMETHING I WAS

ALWAYS NATURALLY GOOD AT.

I LIKE PITCHING, HITTING AND I

LIKED THE WHOLE ASPECT OF

BASEBALL.

REPORTER: CLIMBING THROUGH

KANSAS ROYALS FARM SYSTEM, IT

DIDN'T TAKE LONG TO GET THE

CALL.

YOU WANTED TO BE GETTING MORE

EXPERIENCE.

IN SPRING THEY WERE GOING WITH

YOUTH MOVEMENT.

KANSAS CITY PROVED TO BE TOO

MUCH TOO SOON.

USHERED JEREMY BACK TO A

FAMILIAR EMOTION.

I WAS ANGRY BECAUSE WE LOST

ALL THE TIME AND I DIDN'T KNOW

IF I WAS GOING TO BE A STARTER

OR RELIEVER.

I DIDN'T KNOW WHO I WAS IN

BASEBALL.

GOT TO A POINT I WANTED TO QUIT.

LAST TIME WAS YEARS EARLIER

IN SPOKANE HIGH SCHOOL.

SON OF MILITARY CAREER MAN,

JEREMY WAS UPSET TO ATTEND

ANOTHER NEW SCHOOL.

MY HIGH SCHOOL YEARS WERE

VERY DIFFICULT WHEN IT CAME TO

AUTHORITY ISSUES.

ALL THE PENT UP ANGER EXPLODED

AND I BECAME VERY REBELLIOUS.

WHEN I WOULD DO SOMETHING IN

RAGE, EVERYBODY WOULD TURN THEIR

ATTENTION TO ME.

MY VOICE RAISED AND I GOT LOUD.

I WANTED TO CONTROL THE

SITUATION AND I COULD.

IT WAS WHY I ENJOYED SPORTS.

JEREMY'S HOT HEADEDNESS

LIMITED HIS PLAYING TIME.

HE BEGAN TO GET SERIOUS ABOUT

HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS.

I MORE SO STARTED STUDYING

THE BIBLE BECAUSE I WANTED TO

PLAY BASKETBALL.

SEEING JESUS BECOME ALIVE AND

PART OF THE REASON HE DIED, HE

KNEW JEREMY IN 2,000 YEARS WOULD

BE A REBELLIOUS KID AND LOVED ME

ENOUGH TO DIE FOR ME.

THAT HIGH SCHOOL

TRANSFORMATION AND DEVOTED LIFE

HELPED JEREMY FIND THE STRENGTH

TO PULL THROUGH HIS KANSAS CITY

BLUES.

I REMEMBER SITTING ON MY

COUNTER CRYING TO LARISA.

I DON'T WANT TO PLAY ANYMORE.

I SAID THAT IS NOT AN OPTION.

I KNOW IT IS TOUGH.

IT WILL BE OKAY.

RIGHT NOW IT IS HARD.

IT IS NOT GOING TO BE LIKE THIS

FOREVER.

I REMEMBER PRAYING, SAYING IF

YOU WANT ME TO PLAY, TRADE ME.

I REMEMBER TELLING MY WIFE

SAYING WE GOT TRADED TO

COLORADO.

IT JUST MADE SENSE.

IN 2007, I WAS PRAYING FOR

THE SEASON.

I SAID GOD YOU HAVE GIVEN ME

ANOTHER YEAR TO PLAY.

IF ALL IT IS TO GO OUT IN FRONT

OF 50,000 PEOPLE TO BE CHEERED

OR BOOED, THERE WASN'T A LOT OF

FULFILLMENT IN SUCCEEDING IF

THAT IS ALL I WAS DOING IT FOR.

THEN JEREMY TEAMED UP WITH A

TEAMMATE TO FEED THE HUNGRY.

I REMEMBER THE GAME PLAN.

I NEED TO HAVE A REASON TO KEEP

PLAYING THIS GAME.

FINANCES ARE PRETTY GOOD, STILL

A SHALLOW GAME IF I DON'T HAVE A

REASON TO DO IT.

I GOT TO HELP START THIS FOOD

INITIATIVE.

IT WAS DOING WELL AND I WAS

FINALLY PITCHING FOR A PURPOSE.

THERE WAS A REASON I WAS ON THAT

FIELD.

THAT IS BROUGHT JOY ON THE FIELD

FOR ME.

I

HAD THE BEST YEAR EVER.

WENT TO THE WORLD SERIES, FIRST

TIME COLORADO WENT, FIRST TIME I

WENT.

I WAS ON CLOUD NINE.

I ENJOYED GOING TO THE PARK

EVERYDAY.

SINCE COMING TO SAN FRANCISCO

GIANTS IN 2009, JEREMY HAS BEEN

PART OF TWO WORLD SERIES

CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS BUT REMAINED

GROUNDED WHY GOD HAD HIM IN THE

TEAM.

I BELIEVE I HAVE BEEN GIVEN

THIS PLATFORM FOR A REASON, NOT

FOR SEVEN HOMES AND TEN CARS,

AND SO MUCH MONEY I DON'T KNOW

WHAT TO DO.

I BELIEVE HE HAS GIVEN US MONEY

BECAUSE HE IS ASKING ME TO

ESTABLISH THIS COVENANT.

FOR ME THE GOSPEL IS GOOD NEWS.

WE HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN BASEBALL

IS THE TOOL, CATALYST, PLATFORM

FOR SOMETHING BIGGER IN THE

MIDST OF HAVING KIDS, PLAYING

BASEBALL, THE CRAZY SCHEDULE.

WE HAVE KEPT OUR FOCUS.

THIS IS WHERE WE ARE MEANT TO BE

NOW.

THERE IS SOME WHERE WE ARE

GOING.

WHAT A JOB BY JEREMY.

I DO BELIEVE WHEN YOU DO

MATTHEW 25, IN WHICH I STAND ON

WHEN YOU FEED THE LEAST OF

THESE, WHEN YOU CLOTHE THE LEAST

OF THIS AND GIVE WATER AND HOUSE

AND VISIT THE LEAST OF THESE IN

PRISON, VISITING, CLOTHING,

HOUSING, GIVING WATER TO JESUS

HIMSELF, THAT IS WHAT I HAVE

BEEN ASKED TO DO IS LOVE MY

NEIGHBOR AS MYSELF.
