Efrem: SECONDS AWAY

ON "STUDIO 5"...

YOU TRY TO PUT ON A

PAIR OF SPIKES IN AN

AIRPLANE BATHROOM?

MY BODY TWISTED IN WAYS I

DIDN'T KNOW IT COULD.

Efrem: SHE IS THE

MOST AWARDED FEMALE

COMEDIENNE IN THE COUNTRY.

WE'RE AT HOME IN SHONDA

PIERCE.

CAN YOU STILL DO MINNIE

PEARL?

YES.

READY?

HOWDY!

Efrem: ALSO STILL

AHEAD, HE IS A MEMBER OF

THE 116 CLICK, RAPPER K.B.

IS IN "STUDIO 5."

I WANTED TO BE A

PREACHER WHEN I WAS A KID.

Efrem: AND FROM

PREACHER TO ACTRESS.

IT IS TIME FOR YOU TWO

FIGHT A LITTLE BIT.

IT IS TIME FOR YOU TWO

FIGHT FOR YOUR MARRIAGE.

Efrem: A LOOK AT THE

POWER BEHIND THIS

POWERHOUSE BIBLE TEACHER

ON "STUDIO 5," STARTING

NOW.

*

*

MEN ARE SO FUNNY WHEN

THEY SHOW UP TO THESE

THINGS.

IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT

YOU LOST A BET.

[LAUGHTER]

WAS YOUR G.P.S. BROKEN

OR SOMETHING?

CAN'T FIND YOUR WAY BACK

HOME?

[LAUGHTER]

DID YOU KNOW THAT THIS

WAS A CONCERT THAT SAID

"GIRLS' TALK?"

Efrem: THAT IS

CLASSIC SHONDA PIERCE.

SHE IS LIVING PROOF THERE

IS HOPE EVEN IN THE FACE

OF DARKNESS.

WE'RE SITTING DOWN WITH

THE AWARD-WINNING

COMEDIENNE IN JUST A MOST.

FIRST, HERE'S A LOOK AT

THIS WEEK'S TOP FIVE FROM

"STUDIO 5."

AT NUMBER FIVE THIS WEEK:

*

* WHERE MY TRUST IS

Efrem: "OCEANS," IT

IS A HILLSONG UNITED HIT

THAT VISITORS TO THE

CHURCH WON'T HEAR.

THE PASTOR SAID, WHEN IT

COMES TO INFLUENCE,

PREDICTABILITY IS OUR

ENEMY BECAUSE YOU NEVER

GET INFLUENCED FROM DOING

THINGS THE WAY THEY'VE

ALWAYS BEEN DONE.

Efrem I'M A LYRICS PERSON.

Efrem: THE CHURCH

ALSO NO LONGER SINGS THIS

MAJOR HIT.

*

Efrem: ON TO NUMBER

FOUR: THE ENERGIZER BUNNY

OF GOSPEL MUSIC, TY

TRIBBIT IS NOW A

TELEVISION HOST.

HIS SHOW FILLS THE TIME

SLOT OF BOBBY JONES'

GOSPEL, WHICH FILLED THAT

SPOT FOR MORE THAN 30

YEARS.

NOW TO NUMBER THREE: "THIS

IS WHO YOU ARE."

Efrem: THEY MOVE FROM

MUSIC TO MOVIES WITH

"PRICELESS," A DRAMATIC

FILM ABOUT HUMAN

TRAFFICKING, STARRING JOEL

SMALLBONE.

WHY WOULD YOU HAVE TO

GO THROUGH ALL OF THAT?

Efrem: IT IS A PRETTY

GRITTY ROLE FOR YOU, TOO?

YEAH, IT WAS.

VERY DIFFERENT TO

OBVIOUSLY OUR LIFE STORY.

Efrem: AT NUMBER TWO:

THIS VIDEO OF TIM TEBOW

HAS SPARKED A SOCIAL MEDIA

FRENZY.

IT SHOWS THE NEW BASEBALL

PLAYER RUSHING TO THE SIDE

OF A FAN WHO HAD SUFFERED

A SEIZURE, STANDING BY HIS

SIDE AND PRAYING FOR HIM.

THE FORMER NFL QUARTERBACK

WAS SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS

AFTER HIS FIRST MINOR

LEAGUE BASEBALL GAME.

YOU REMEMBER PEOPLE ARE

IMPORTANT, AND WHAT YOU

CAN DO FOR PEOPLE AND

LOVING PEOPLE.

BASEBALL IS AWESOME, IT IS

SOMETHING I'M SO EXCITED I

GET A CHANCE TO PURSUE.

BUT WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS

LIVES MATTER, PEOPLE

MATTER, AND THIS YOUNG

MAN, HE MATTERED.

Efrem: NOW TO NUMBER

ONE:

* MY GOD IS JESUS

*

Efrem: THIS IS WHAT

IT LOOKS LIKE TO PRAISE

GOD THROUGH THE STORM.

DESPITE DEVASTATING DAMAGE

FROM HURRICANE MATTHEW,

MEMBERS OF DOMINION

FELLOWSHIP CHURCH IN PALM

CITY, FLORIDA, STILL HELD

SERVICES.

"STUDIO 5" MET PASTOR

ROBERTSON DOING DISHES AT

A LOCAL SHELTER JUST THE

DAY BEFORE.

ONE OF THE THINGS WE'RE

ALWAYS ABLE TO DO, AND

HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO

AS CHRISTIANS AND AS THE

BODY OF CHRIST, IS TO TAKE

ADVANTAGE OF THE

OPPORTUNITIES THAT GOD

GIVES US TO CONNECT WITH

PEOPLE WE NORMALLY WOULD

NOT BE ABLE TO CONNECT

WITH.

Efrem: THOSE ARE YOUR

TOP FIVE FROM "STUDIO 5"

FOR THIS WEEK.

> YOU KNOW, EVERYONE

NEEDS TO LAUGH.

AND NO ONE KNOWS THAT

BETTER THAN THE SUBJECT OF

THIS WEEK'S "STUDIO 5"

INTERVIEW.

SHONDA PIERCE IS ON THE

ROAD AGAIN, BUT SHE HITS

THE STAGE WITH A DIFFERENT

PERSPECTIVE.

SHE OPENED UP HER LIFE TO

THE CAMERAS, SHARED THE

LOSS OF HER HUSBAND, HIS

BATTLE WITH ALCOHOLISM,

THE LOSS OF HER MOTHER,

AND HER BROKEN

RELATIONSHIP WITH HER OWN

DAUGHTER.

WE'RE SITTING DOWN WITH

HER AT HOME, JUST OUTSIDE

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE.

41 YEARS I'VE BEEN

MARRIED TO THE SAME MAN.

[APPLAUSE]

DON'T LAUGH.

YOU DON'T KNOW HIM.

Efrem: SHE HAS BEEN

SERVING UP LAUGHTER TO

SELLOUT CROWD TO SELLOUT

CROWD FOR YEARS.

WHEN DID YOU KNOW YOU WERE

FUNNY?

OH, DEAR LORD.

MY MOTHER USED TO TICKLE

ME WHEN SHE WAS TRYING TO

SPANK ME.

IF I COULD MAKE HER LAUGH,

SHE WOULD FORGET WHY SHE

WAS SPANKING ME.

WHEN I LOOKED BACK IN

COLLEGE, I WAS ALL PRONE

TO AUDITION FOR THE FUNNY

ROLES.

I WANTED WHATEVER WAS

GOING TO MAKE THE CROWD

LAUGH.

SO I HAD A TENDENCY TO

LEAN THAT WAY, WITHOUT

EVEN KNOWING THERE WAS

SUCH A THING AS A STAND-UP

COMEDIENNE.

Efrem: SHE BEGAN HER

COMIC CAREER IMITATING

MINNIE PEARL.

CAN YOU STILL DO MINNIE

PEARL?

OH, YEAH.

ARE YOU READY?

HOWDY!

Efrem: SHONDA HAS

COME A LONG WAY SINCE

THOSE GOOD OLD DAYS.

IN FACT, SHE IS THE

LEADING FEMALE COMIC IN

THE COUNTRY.

HOW DO YOU BECOME THE MOST

AWARDED FEMALE COMIC?

YOU PUT A LOT OF HOURS

IN ON THE ROAD, THAT'S FOR

SURE.

I WILL NEVER FORGET THE

DAY I GOT A CALL -- OR A

LETTER FROM THE R.I.A.A.,

THE PEOPLE WHO GIVE YOU

GOLD RECORDS AND ALL OF

THAT.

AND THEY HAD A LITTLE

FUNCTION FOR ME IN

NASHVILLE.

AND I WENT AND I GOT MY

LITTLE AWARD.

AND I TOLD THE MAN, I JUST

FIND THIS SO HARD TO

BELIEVE.

THERE ARE SO MANY

WONDERFUL COMICS OUT

THERE.

AND HE GOES, I KNOW.

WE DIDN'T KNOW WHO YOU

WERE, EITHER.

THAT HUMBLES YOU REALLY

QUICK.

Efrem: HER AUDIENCES,

OFTEN CHURCH GROUPS, HAVE

MADE HER THE QUEEN OF

CLEAN.

> IS IT DIFFICULT TO BE

CLEAN AND FUNNY?

I DON'T THINK IT IS.

NOW, I'VE NEVER HAD TO

CLEAN UP MY MOUTH TOO

MUCH, YOU KNOW?

I GREW UP IN THE BIBLE

BELT, IN THE HOLINESS

DENOMINATION AND A

PREACHER'S KID.

I COULDN'T STRING CUSS

WORDS TOGETHER IF I

TRIED -- WELL, I PROBABLY

COULD IF I GOT REALLY,

REALLY MAD.

BUT IT WAS JUST NOT IN MY

UPBRINGING.

IT WAS NOT IN MY -- IT'S

NOT EVEN BACK IN THE

RECESSES OF MY MIND.

IF I STUB MY TOE, I'M

GOING TO SAY FIDDLE STICKS

OR OUCH.

IT IS NOT THAT IT HAS BEEN

HARD TO STAY CLEAN.

IT IS HARD TO MAKE A NAME

FOR YOURSELF IN THE COMEDY

WORLD BEING A CLEAN COMIC.

FOR SOME RUSSIAN REASON THE

HOLLYWOOD WORLD SEEMS TO

THINK OF CLEAN COMIC AS

SOFT OR NOT AS ADVENTUROUS

OR NOT AS FUNNY, AND

THAT'S NOT SO AT ALL.

SOME OF THE GREATEST

COMICS OF OUR DAY -- RED

SKELETON WAS SO CLEVER AND

SO FUNNY.

AND CAROL BURNETT.

SEINFELD IS RELATIVELY

CLEAN.

SO THOSE WHO REALLY MAKE

IT A LONG WAY AND HAVE

GREAT LONGEVITY, THEY HAVE

DONE IT WITH THEIR FAMILY

IN MIND.

Efrem: LOOKING TO

EXPAND HER REACH A FEW

YEARS AGO, SHONDA'S TEAM

DECIDED TO PRODUCE A

DOCUMENTARY ON HER LIFE.

A LOT HAPPENED DURING THAT

THAT I'M SURE YOU DID NOT

ANTICIPATE WHEN THE

CAMERAS STARTED ROLLING.

NO, WE DID NOT.

WE GOT A TOTALLY DIFFERENT

MOVIE THAN I THINK WHAT WE

WERE GOING TO GO AFTER.

GOOD MORNING.

THIS IS DOUG WITH SOME SAD

NEWS TO REPORT.

OUR DEAR FRIEND, CHRISTIAN

COMEDIAN, SHONDA PIERCE'S

HUSBAND DIED FOLLOWING

BRAIN SURGERY ON TUESDAY

NIGHT.

OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

GO OUT TO SHONDA AND HER

TWO CHILDREN.

TUESDAY NIGHT HER POST

SIMPLY READ: DAVID IS

HOME.

Efrem: WHILE FILMING,

SHONDA ALSO LOST HER

MOTHER AND OPENED UP ABOUT

HER HUSBAND'S BATTLE WITH

ALCOHOL.

DEATH PUTS A LOT OF

THINGS INTO PERSPECTIVE.

THE RECOGNITION THAT YOU

CAN'T DO ANYTHING OVER.

YOU KNOW, YOU CAN'T CHANG

ANYTHING OR YOU CAN NEVER

SAY ANOTHER WORD TO THAT

HUMAN BEING AGAIN -- THAT

WILL CHANGE YOU.

Efrem: AND T

DOCUMENTARY IS CALLED

"LGHING IN THE DARK."

MY PERSONAL LIFE TOOK

SUCH A TURN, THAT THE

STORY BECAME ABOUT

SURVIVING AND GOD'S GRACE

IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAGEDY.

AND HOW DO YOU HOLD ON TO

GOD?

AND HOW DO YOU TELL THE

WORLD THAT JESUS IS GOD GOOD

WHEN EVERYTHING IS FALLING

APART?

AND HOW DO YOU KEEP MAKING

A LIVING AT A COMIC, WHEN

YOUR MOTHER PASSES AND

YOU'RE STRUGGLING WITH

YOUR KIDS AND YOUR HUSBAND

PASSES -- HOW DO YOU DO

THAT?

THAT'S KIND OF WHAT THE

MOVIE BECAME, HOW DO YOU

LAUGH EVEN IN THE DARK?

Efrem: AND THERE IS A

BIBLE STUDY TO GO ALONG

WITH THE DOCUMENTARY.

THE STUDY IS BASED ON THE

BOOK OF JOB, AND ONLY

SHONDA CAN FIND THE HUMOR

IN THAT COMPARISON AS

WELL.

> STILL AHEAD ON "STUDIO

5"...

I DON'T KNOW WHY WE ALL

GO TO THE POTTY TOGETHER.

IT COULD BE TO HOLD ON TO

THE SKINNY GIRL AS A

HANDRAIL.

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND,

MY DEAR?

I WOULDN'T GET THE

MRS. OR MISS?

MESSRS. IS FINE.

I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW

STEWY AND I ARE VERY, VERY

HAPPY TO BE HERE.

WE THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR

THIS OPPORTUNITY.

AND MIGHT I ADD, YOU LOOK

VERY BEAUTIFUL TODAY.

WELL, LET'S GET ONE

THING PERFECTLY CLEAR,

TWINKLE TOES: I DON'T LIKE

YOU.

Efrem: SHONDA PIERCE,

MAKING US LAUGH.

> IF YOU HAD TO COMPARE

YOUR LIFE TO ANY BIBLICAL

CHARACTER, YOU PROBABLY

WOULD NOT CHOOSE JOB.

IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW,

HE LOST EVERYTHING.

SHONDA HAS WRITTEN A BIBLE

STUDY COMPANION TO HER

DOCUMENT, AND IT IS

GROUNDED IN THE STORY OF

JOB.

THAT'S WHERE SHE PICKS UP

OUR CONVERSATION IN THIS

WEEK'S "STUDIO 5"

INTERVIEW.

I'M NOT THE PERSON I

WAS WHEN THIS DOCUMENTARY

STARTED.

AND I DON'T EVER WANT TO

BE THAT PERSON AGAIN.

AND I DON'T WANT TO BE THE

PERSON THAT JUST SPOKE

THOSE VERY WORDS.

WHEN I WATCHED THAT

MANUFACTURE AND SAMOVIE AND SAW IT ON THE

BIG SCREEN, I REMEMBER

GOING, WOW, THAT YOUNG

LADY HAS BEEN THROUGH SO

MUCH.

AND I AM SO PROUD OF HER.

IT ALMOST FELT LIKE AN

OUT-OF-BODY EXPERIENCE.

SO WHAT I'M HOPING IS NOW

THAT IT IS RELEASED ON

D.V.D., AND PEOPLE CAN

WATCH IT IN A MORE

INTIMATE SETTING, MY

PRAYER IS IT OPENS A

DIALOGUE ABOUT ADDICTION

AND DEPRESSION AND

SEPARATION AND ANXIETY AND

ALL OF THOSE THINGS THAT

WE HAVE A TENDENCY TO NOT

WANT TO TALK ABOUT AS

CHRISTIANS.

WE'RE RELEASING A BIBLE

STUDY THAT COMES ALONG

WITH THE MOVIE, AND IT'S

BASED -- WHEN YOU'RE LIFE

STORY IS BASED ON THE BOOK

OF JOB, THEN YOU KNOW IT

HAS BEEN QUITE A LIFE.

THE WHOLE BIBLE STUDY IS

BASED ON THE BOOK OF JOB,

AND WHICH I LEARNED SO

MUCH WRITING IT AND I HAD

A WONDERFUL SCHOLAR

WORKING ON IT WITH ME.

AND WHAT I LOVE ABOUT IT

IS THAT STORY OF MY LIFE

AND WHAT JOB WENT THROUGH,

IT IS WHAT ALL OF US GO

THROUGH.

Efrem: I KNOW I'VE

HEARD YOU SAY THAT YOU

WANT THIS D.V.D. TO GIVE

PEOPLE HOPE.

YES.

Efrem: HOW ARE YOU

FEELING NOW, AFTER SEEING

IT AND PUTTING IT ALL

TOGETHER?

I FEEL -- YOU KNOW, YOU

FEEL LIKE -- I DON'T KNOW

THAT IT'S MY FINALE -- I

HOPE NOT.

I HOPE NOT.

I THOUGHT WHEN WE GOT MY

HUSBAND'S STONE IN PLACE,

AND WE PUT OUR LAST NAME

AND HIS NAME AND HIS BIRTH

DATE AND THE DAY HE DIED,

AND THEN THERE IS MY NAME

AND THE DAY I WAS BORN,

THEN A BLANK, LIKE I HAVE

NO HOPE AT ALL.

IT IS A REALLY WEIRD THING

WHEN YOU SEE YOUR NAME ON

A TOMB STONE.

AND I TEASE WHEN MY SON

GETS AGGRAVATED AT ME, HE

HEADS OUT WITH A CHISM AND

HAMMER AND HE GOES, I'M

GOING TO START TODAY.

I DON'T KNOW THAT THIS

MOVIE AND THE STORY OF MY

LIFE BEING OUT THERE -- I

DON'T KNOW THAT IT IS A

FINALE.

I DON'T FEEL THAT WAY.

BUT I DO FEEL LIKE IT IS A

PERIOD AT THE END OF QUITE

A JOURNEY.

Efrem: IN SHARING HER

LIFE, SHONDA IS OPEN ABOUT

BATTLING DEPRESSION.

YOU KNOW, WE LOST ROBIN

WILLIAMS, WHO SUFFERED

FROM DEPRESSION.

WE LOST SO MANY WONDERFUL

PEOPLE AND BECAUSE OF

THEIR DEPRESSION, THEY

HAVE DIVED INTO SOME

ADDICTION THAT CAUSES

THEIR DEATH, AND THAT IS

VERY SAD.

SOMETIMES I WONDER IF WE,

WHO HAVE BEEN TO DARK

DAYS, WE CLING TO THE

FUNNY AND THE LAUGHTER

LIKE ITS JUST -- IT'S LIKE

THE THREAD OF HOPE.

WHERE I AM BLEAF BLESSED IS MY

HOPE COMES FROM SOMETHING

ELSE.

IT DOESN'T COME FROM WHAT

I DO FOR A LIVING.

MY HOPE DOESN'T COME FROM

THE SOUND OF OTHER PEOPLE.

THAT'S GREAT MEDICINE.

BUT MY HOPE COMES FROM MY

RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST.

IF I DID NOT HAVE THAT

DEEPER FAITH, THERE BUT BY

THE GRACE OF GOD, I WOULD

BE ROBIN WILLIAMS.

I COULD VERY WELL BE THE

CHRIS FARLEYS, THOSE WHO

TURN TO DRUGS AND ALCOHOL

OR THOSE WHO GET SO

ADDICTED TO THE LAUGHTER

AND THE ADRENALIN OF THEIR

JOB, THEY DON'T KNOW HOW

TO BE OFF THE STAGE.

THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO

LIVE OFF OF A STAGE.

AND I CAN SEE HOW IT CAN

BECOME VERY ENTANGLED IF

YOU DON'T HAVE SOMETHING

STRONGER TO HOLD ON TO.

Efrem: HOW HAS ALL OF

THIS CHANGED YOUR WALK

WITH GOD?

WHEN YOU WALK A DARK,

DARK ROAD AND YOU KNOW --

I KNOW THAT I KNOW THAT I

KNOW, THERE IS NO WAY I

WOULD HAVE MADE IT TO THE

OTHER END OF THIS ROAD HAD

IT NOT BEEN FOR GOD.

YOU BEGIN TO APPRECIATE

HIM A WHOLE LOT MORE.

AND IT BECOMES MORE BASED

ON SENSIBILITY AND FACT

AND TRUTH THAN ANYTHING

EMOTIONAL.

BECAUSE, HONEY,

MENOPAUSE -- YOU WILL BE

CHANGING YOUR EMOTIONS

EVERY FIVE DAYS.

YOU WILL LOOK AT GOD

DIFFERENTLY EVERY THREE

MINUTES.

YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN?

YOU'VE GOT TO HAVE A DEEP

FOUNDATION IN THE WORD OF

GOD, NOT BASED ON EMOTION.

I'VE BEEN IN EUPHORIC

SERVICES WHERE WE WILL EAT

FRIED CHICKEN IN THE

SANCTUARY -- IT'S

WONDERFUL.

BUT YOU CANNOT BASE YOUR

SALVATION OR YOUR

RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD ON

YOUR EMOTION, OR YOU'RE IN

BIG TROUBLE.

Efrem: SHONDA'S

DOCUMENT ADMINISTER AND

THE COMPANION BIBLE STUDY

ARE BOTH OUT AND AVAILABLE

RIGHT NOW.

> STILL AHEAD ON "STUDIO

5," THE MUSIC...

* SOME SAY THEY'VE SEEN

THE LORD *

Efrem: ...AND THE

MESSAGE OF HIP-HOP ARTIST

K.B..

TO NOT BE COOL WITH

*

[RAP MUSIC]

Efrem: THAT'S THE

SOUND OF KEVIN ELIJAH BURG

BURGESS, BETTER KNOWN AS

K.B..

HE IS A MEMBER OF THE 116

CLICK, AND HE IS ON THE

ROAD, EVEN AS WE SPEAK, ON

THE TEMPO TOUR WITH MUSIC

AND A MESSAGE FOR SUCH A

TIME AS THIS.

AND HIS MUSIC IS WHAT IS

PLAYING IN MY EAR.

I THINK HIP-HOP IS, YOU

KNOW, THE TRILLION OR

BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY

THAT IT IS RIGHT NOW

BECAUSE OF ITS UNIQUE

ABILITY TO CONNECT WITH

THE HEART OF HUMANITY.

I WATCHED VIDEOS FROM THE

'50s AND '60s, AND

THEY WOULD SHOW THESE

BOXING MATCHES.

AND THERE WILL BE LIKE A

MILLION PEOPLE IN THE

ROOM, AND THIS SMALL

SQUARE WITH TWO GUYS IN

THE MIDDLE FIGHTING.

AND PEOPLE WANTED TO BE

CLOSE TO THE FIGHT.

I COULD SEE MYSELF IN THAT

RING.

WE'RE STRUGGLING OR WE'RE

CELEBRATING, AND HIP-HOP

EMBODIES THAT.

MY PARENTS DIVORCED, AND

AT THE TIME, I DIDN'T

REALLY SEE THAT AS A BIG

DEAL.

BUT ONCE I FOUND MYSELF

SEPARATED FROM MY FATHER

AND IT WAS JUST MY MOTHER

AND I LIVING IN A

NEIGHBORHOOD THAT WASN'T

AS SAFE AS THE ONE THAT I

WAS ACCUSTOMED TO, I FELT

EXPOSED.

I CONSTANTLY FELT LIKE I

WAS IN DANGER.

THAT FEELING OF DANGER

CONTINUALLY, IT WEIGHS ON

YOU.

IT WASN'T UNTIL I HAD AN

ENCOUNTER WITH THE ONE WHO

MADE ME, ACTUALLY THROUGH

HIP-HOP MUSIC, THAT I

FIGURED OUT -- THAT IT WAS

CLEAR TO ME THAT TO NOT BE

COOL WITH GOD IS A GOOD

REASON TO FEEL UNSAFE.

AND EVERYTHING THAT I'M

GOING THROUGH REALLY IS

JUST A TESTAMENT OF THAT

REALITY.

BUT TO BE COOL WITH HIM,

TO KNOW WITH HIM, TO WALK

WITH HIM, TO LOVE HIM,

ACTUALLY IS A REASON TO

NEVER FEEL UNSAFE BECAUSE

YOU ARE PROTECTED.

> YOU SHOULD MAKE

DECISIONS THAT YOUR FUTURE

SELF WILL THANK YOU FOR.

AND IF THAT IS YOUR

MINDSET, THEN YOU MOVE

PAST SURVIVAL MODE, AND

YOU GO, I'M GOING TO DO

THE THINGS THAT WORK

TOWARDS ME MAKING A LIVING

AND BECOMING A FLOURISHING

HUMAN BEING.

I WOULD ENCOURAGE BROTHERS

AND SISTERS WHO FIND

THEMSELVES WRESTLING WITH

SOME OF THE THINGS I

WRESTLED WITH, THINK LIKE

THAT, AND YOU'LL BE FINE.

*

Efrem: AND BE SURE TO

KEEP WATCH RIGHT HERE ON

"STUDIO 5," BECAUSE THERE

IS NEW MUSIC COMING FROM

K.B.

UP NEXT, IN "STUDIO 5"...

I WOULD CONSIDER MYSELF

A SPIRITUAL PERSON.

I'M NOT HOT, BUT I'M NOT

COLD EITHER.

Efrem: A WARMING

Efrem: WE ARE JUST

ABOUT OUT OF TIME FOR THIS

EDITION OF "STUDIO 5," BUT

THE GOOD NEWS IS WE'RE

HARD AT WORK TO BRING YOU

AN EXCITING SHOW.

HERE IS A LOOK AT WHAT

WE'RE WORKING ON FOR NEXT

WEEK'S EPISODE.

> WHILE THE NBA'S SETH

CURRIE SCORES POINTS ON

THE COURT, HIS WIFE SCORES

POINTS IN THE KITCHEN.

AYESHA CURRY'S NEW

COOKBOOK HAS MADE THE "NEW

YORK TIMES" BEST-SELLER'S

LIST, AND SHE HAS A NEW

COOKING SHOW ON THE FOOD

NETWORK, AND SHE IS IN

"STUDIO 5."

Efrem: IT WAS

BEAUTIFUL TO SEE YOU

OPENING THE BOOK ON VIDEO

FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.

WHAT HAS IT BEEN LIKE

THESE LAST FEW WEEKS OUT

PROMOTING IT?

IT HAS BEEN INSANE.

EVERYBODY KEEPS ASKING ME

IF I'M TIRED OF IT OR IF

I'M OVER IT, AND I'M NOT.

I LOVE IT.

Efrem: AND THAT IS

JUST ONE STORY FROM NEXT

WEEK'S RUNDOWN.

OR FOI THIS WEEK, I'M GIVING

THE FINAL WORD TO A

PREACHER'S KID, PRISCILLA

SHIRE.

SHE HAS A MUCH-NEEDED

REMINDER ABOUT THE POWER

OF PRAYER.

IT IS ALL MAPPED OUT

FOR US IN EPHESIANS 6, THE

SPIRITUAL ARMOR.

IF YOU HAVE THIS ON YOU,

YOU WILL BE VICTORIOUS.

THE HELMET OF SALVATION,

AND ON AND ON.

AT THE TAIL END OF THAT,

HE SAYS OVER TWO VERSES.

HE SAYS, PRAY.

PRAY AT ALL TIMES.

IN THE SPIRIT, ON EVERY

OCCASION, FOR ALL OF THE

BELIEVERS.

HE GOES ON AND ON ABOUT

PRAYER, AS IF TO SAY THIS

IS THE SEVENTH WEAPON.

AND THIS SEVENTH WEAPON IS

THE ONE THAT INFUSES THE

OTHER SIX WITH THE POWER

THAT THEY NEED TO BE

AFFECTIVE IN BATTLE.

SO MORE THAN ANYTHING, I

THINK THAT THE LORD IS

TRYING TO REMIND HIS

PEOPLE THAT IF YOU'LL JUST

PRAY, I WILL HEAR YOU.

Efrem: PRAYER IS A

MUCH-NEEDED ARSENAL IN THE

ARMOR GOD HAS EQUIPPED US

WITH.

THAT IS THE FINAL WORD FOR

THIS EDITION OF "STUDIO

5."

I'D LOVE TO KEEP THIS

ENTERTAINMENT CONVERSATION

GOING UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.
