THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND

HIGHLY ADDICTIVE

SUBSTANCE.

Gordon: AMERICA'S

GROWING HABIT.

SHE DIED OF A HEROIN

OVERDOSE.

Gordon: AND IT IS

HOOKING OUR MOST INNOCENT.

NOW THE FACE OF HEROIN

IS MY DAUGHTER, WHO LOVES

SOCCER.

Gordon: SEE WHAT IS

BEING DONE TO STOP THIS

EPIDEMIC.

IF DON'T GET A HANDLE

ON IT, THE FUTURE LOOKS

VERY BLEAK IN THIS COUNTRY

FOR OUR CHILDREN AND THEIR

FUTURE.

Gordon: ON TODAY'S

"700 CLUB INTERACTIVE."

GOOD MORNING, AND WELCOME

TO THE SHOW.

HURRICANE MATTHEW, WELL IT

HAMMERED FLORIDA, GEORGIA,

SOUTH CAROLINA, NORTH

CAROLINA, AND PARTS OF

VIRGINIA FOR DAYS BEFORE

IT WEAKENED AND WENT OUT

TO SEA.

THE HEAVY RAINS CAUSED

EIGHT DAMS TO BE BREACHED

IN NORTH CAROLINA, LEAVING

HOMES, BUSINESSES, CARS

AND ROADWAYS UNDER WATER.

IT IS THE WORST FLOODING

THEY HAVE SEEN SINCE

HURRICANE FLOYD IN 1999.

46 DEATHS HAVE BEEN

ATTRIBUTED TO THE STORM

JUST IN THE U.S., MOST

FROM NORTH CAROLINA.

Terry: JAMES BRADLEY,

A FAYETTE, NORTH CAROLINA,

RESIDENT, IS BEING CALLED

A LOCAL HERO AFTER HE USED

HIS TRACTOR AND A TOWING

TRAILER TO HELP PEOPLE

TRAPPED BY FLOODWATERS.

TAKE A LOOK.

[YELLING]

Terry: PRETTY

CREATIVE IN PERILOUS

TIMES.

THE VIDEO IN THESE

PICTURES CAN TAKEN BY

DEVON McKNIGHT IN

FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH

CAROLINA.

WHO WAS OUT HELPING JAMES.

HE SAID MANY NEIGHBORS

UNITED TOGETHER TO HOPE

THOSE IN NEED.

THAT'S ONE OF THE GOOD

THINGS THAT COME OUT IN

NEED.

Gordon: YOU FIND OUT

WHO YOU NEIGHBORS ARE AND

HOW MUCH WE NEED TO BOND

TOGETHER AS COMMUNITIES TO

HELP THOSE IN NEED.

IN THE MIDST OF THIS

TRAGEDY, AN ENTIRE

COMMUNITY IN GREENEVILLE,

NORTH CAROLINA, CAME

TOGETHER TO PRAY AND

WORSHIP THE LORD.

HERE IS A CLIP.

OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN

HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE THIGH

NAME.

* AMAZING GRACE

* HOW SWEET THE SOUND

* WHO SAVED A

*

[YELLING]

[CHEERING]

Gordon: THE PRAYER

WAS LED BY LOCAL PASTORS

AND THE MAYOR, WITH

HUNDREDS OF RESIDENTS

ATTENDING AND THROUGH MANY

DANGEROUS TOILS AND

SNARES.

LET'S GET TOGETHER AND

LET'S REMIND OURSELVES OF

COMMUNITY AND THAT WE NEED

TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER AND WE

NEED TO LOVE GOD, AND

RELIES HE WILL SEE US

THROUGH.

Terry: A FATHER AND

SON TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE

FLOODWATERS SURROUNDING

THEIR HOME.

THEY DECIDED TO GO

FISHING.

THEY CAUGHT A BLUE CATFISH

RIGHT IN THEIR FRONT YARD.

HE AND HIS SON DECIDED TO

MAKE THE BEST OF A BAD

SITUATION.

YOU WANT TO WATCH THE

VIDEO OF THEM FISHING

RIGHT OFF THEIR FRONT

PORCH, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO

IS GO TO OUR Facebook

PAGE.

THAT'S MAKING LEMONADE OUT

OF LEMONS.

Gordon: WELL, CBN'S

"OPERATION BLESSING" IS IN

NORTH CAROLINA, HELPING

FLOOD VICTIMS.

LIKE THE ORLANA FAMILY.

THE NIGHT OF THE STORM,

THEY HAD TO WADE THROUGH

THE WAIST-HIGH WATER WITH

THREE YOUNG CHILDREN AND A

ONE-MONTH-OLD BABY.

"OPERATION BLESSING"

JUST ENDURED -- THEY ARE

LIKE GUARDIAN ANGELS.

BECAUSE WE CAN'T DO THIS

BY OURSELVES.

THEY'VE BEEN SO HELPFUL,

GIVING US WATER, MASKS,

ANYTHING WE NEED.

THEY'VE BEEN PROVIDING FOR

US.

SO I'M THANKFUL FOR

"OPERATION BLESSING" AND

THE SERVICES THAT THEY

HAVE PROVIDED TO THE CEDAR

FALLS COMMUNITY HERE IN

FAYETTEVILLE.

IF IT WASN'T FOR THEM -- I

MEAN, THERE IS JUST SO

MUCH THEY HAVE DONE, AND

JUST THEIR SUPPORT.

A SHOULDER TO CRY ON,

SOMEONE TO LISTEN TO YOU.

SOMEONE TO TELL YOU IT IS

GOING TO BE OKAY, THINGS

ARE GOING TO GET BETTER.

JUST THAT ENCOURAGEMENT

HAS MEANT A LOT TO MY

FAMILY.

AND WE SAY THANK YOU TO

"OPERATION BLESSING" FOR

YOUR SUPPORT AND

DEDICATION.

KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE

DOING.

YOU'RE MAKING A

DIFFERENCE, AND THAT'S

WHAT REALLY MATTERS.

WASH THEIR HEARTS AND

WASH THEIR MINDS.

HOLD THOSE PRECIOUS BABIES

HIGH, LORD.

Gordon: IF A MEMBER

OF "THE 700 CLUB," THANK

YOU.

YOU'RE PART OF THAT

PRAYER.

YOU'RE PART OF THAT RELIEF

EFFORT.

YOU'RE PART OF TELLING

PEOPLE GOD LOVES THEM.

WE LOVE THEM, TOO.

IF YOU'RE NOT A MEMBER AND

YOU WANT TO JOIN WITH US,

OR IF YOU WANT TO

DESIGNATE YOUR GIFT TO

HELP "OPERATION BLESSING"

DISASTER RELIEF, ALL HAVE

YOU TO DO IS CALL US:

1-800-700-7000.

OR YOU CAN LOG ON TO

700clubinteractive.com.

Terry: I WANT TO

MENTION THEY'RE STILL

THERE WORKING IN NORTH

CAROLINA.

Gordon: THEY'LL BE

THERE FOR SOME TIME.

ANY TIME YOU'RE DEALING

WITH FLOOD DAMAGE, YOU

HAVE TO GO INTO THOSE

HOMES AND YOU LITERALLY

HAVE TO TAKE IT DOWN TO

THE STUDS BECAUSE BLACK

MOLD WILL COME IN, AND

THAT WILL MAKE THAT HOME

UNINHABITABLE, AND SO WE

NEED TO DO THIS NOW.

AND OUR CREWS ARE BUSY

WORKING.

WE WANT TO BE THERE NOT

JUST IN NORTH CAROLINA,

BUT WE'RE ALSO WORKING IN

HAITI.

IT WAS ABSOLUTELY

DEVASTATED.

IT WAS A CATEGORY 4 WHEN

IT HIT THERE.

IF YOU WANT TO BE A PART

OF IT, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO

IS CALL US.

Terry: WELL, COMING

UP, BABIES EMERGING TO THE

WOMB ADDICTED TO HEROIN.

THEIR AGITATED,

OVERSTIMULATED, AND

THEY'RE DIFFICULT TO CALM.

Terry: FIND OUT WHAT

IS BEING DONE TO STOP THIS

DRUG EPIDEMIC WHEN WE COME

BACK.

Terry: OPE OPIOIDS USE,

WHICH INCLUDES PAIN

RELIEVERS AND HEROIN, HAS

REACHED EPIDEMIC NUMBERS

IN AMERICA.

WITH OVER DOSES KILLING

MORE THAN 28,000 PEOPLE IN

2014 ALONE.

FOR YEARS HEROIN ADDICTION

WAS CONSIDERED A PROBLEM

FOR BIG CITIES.

BUT AS LORIE JOHNSON SHOWS

US, PEOPLE ARE QUICKLY

FINDING OUT THIS DEADLY

DRUG IS RIGHT IN THEIR OWN

BACKYARD.

Reporter: CAITLIN

WEANS DIED OF A HEROIN

OVERDOSE AT AGE 21.

LIFE HAS BEEN SO

DIFFERENT SINCE.

NO ONE, UNLESS YOU'VE BEEN

IN THAT SITUATION, CAN

EVEN FATHOM HOW THAT TURNS

YOUR WHOLE WORLD UPSIDE

DOWN IN A SECOND.

Reporter: RAISED IN A

STABLE CHRISTIAN HOME,

CAITLIN LOVED SPORTS AND

SCHOOL.

BUT REALLY FAITH IS THE

ONLY THING THAT GETS ME

THROUGH IT.

BECAUSE I BELIEVE THAT

CAITLIN IS IN HEAVEN.

I BELIEVE SHE IS NOT IN

PAIN ANYMORE.

Lorie: IF IT CAN

HAPPEN TO CAITLIN, IT CAN

HAPPEN TO ANYONE.

THE FACE OF HEROIN HAS

CHANGED.

IT USED TO BE A CRIMINAL

ELEMENT.

IN THE URBAN CITY, IN A

WAREHOUSE.

AND NOW THE FACE OF HEROIN

IS MY DAUGHTER, WHO LOVES

SOCCER.

Lorie: AND THOUSANDS

LIKE HER, WHO STARTED THE

SAME WAY.

CAITLIN'S ADDICTION BEGAN

INNOCENTLY AND

UNEXPECTANTLY.

SHE FIRST GOT HOOKED ON

PRESCRIPTION PAINKILLERS

FOLLOWING SURGERY.

THESE POWERFUL, OFTEN HAB

BERHABIT FORMING DRUGS GO BY

NAMES OF PERCOCET AND OC

OXYCONTIN.

AND SOMEONE SAID, WHY

NOT TRY HEROIN, IT'S THE

SAME THING.

WITHIN FOUR MONTHS SHE

DIED AS AN OVER DOSE.

Lorie: THEY PRODUCE

THE SAME TYPE OF HIGH, BUT

HEROIN IS CHEAPER AND

EASIER TO GET.

ANOTHER DIFFERENCE, PAIN

PILLS ARE REGULATED, SO

YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE

GETTING.

WHEN IT COMES TO HEROIN,

DEALERS OFTEN LACE IT WITH

OTHER DRUGS, CREATING A

POTENTIALLY DEADLY BLEND.

NORA KNOWS ALL ABOUT THAT.

WHEN I USED HEROIN THE

FIRST TIME, IT WAS SUCH A

EUPHORIC FEELING, I FELT

LIKE THAT WAS THE FEELING

I HAD BEEN SEARCHING FOR

MY WHOLE LIFE.

Lorie: HOOKED AFTER

THAT FIRST TIME, NORA

STAYED THAT WAY FOR YEARS.

I HAVE A PRAYING MOTHER

AND FATHER, SO THERE WERE

A LOT OF TIMES I WAS IN

THE DEEP DEPTHS OF THE

ADDICTION, IN VERY DARK

PLACES THAT I KNOW I ONLY

CAME OUT OF BECAUSE OF

THAT.

Lorie: HEROIN ADDICTS

CONTINUALLY NEED MORE OF

IT TO GET THE SAME HIGH.

NORA WOUND UP WITH A $100

A DAY HABIT.

THAT'S WHERE THE

CRIMINAL ACTIVITY STARTS

TAKING PLACE.

I'VE BEEN TO PRISON, THREE

TIMES, ACTUALLY.

BECAUSE OF WHAT THIS DRUG

HAS DONE.

Lorie: AS THE NUMBER

OF ADDICTS SKYROCKETS, SO

DOES THE NUMBER OF BABIES

BORN TO THEM, WHO WHEN

THEY COME INTO THE WORLD

ARE ACTUALLY ADDICTS

THEMSELVES AND MUST

IMMEDIATELY ENDURE PAINFUL

WITHDRAWALS.

THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY

DAY HERE AT VIRGINIA

CRENERA NORFOLK UNION

HOSPITAL.

THE DAY WE VISITED, THE

MATERNITY NURSES HELPED

DELIVER FIVE.

THEIR AGITATED, OVER

STIMULATED, AND THEY'RE

DIFFICULT TO CALM.

THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO

TOLERATE CHANGES IN THE

ENVIRONMENT.

THEY OFTEN ARE VERY, VERY

UNCONSOLABLE IS PROBABLY

THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE

IT.

Lorie: WEANING THEM

OFF THE DRUG OFTEN TAKES

WEEKS.

MOST OF THE TIMES THE

BABIES STILL GO HOME WITH

MOM WITH A PLAN IN PLACE,

AND A FOLLOWUP TO MAKE

SURE EVERYONE IS GETTING

TREATMENT, LIKE THEY'RE

SUPPOSED TO.

THEY CARE ABOUT THEIR

BABIES.

THEY'RE MOMS, THEY'RE

PROFESSIONAL WOMEN, AND

THEY'RE OUR CO-WORKERS AND

CHURCH MEMBERS.

Lorie:, LIKE Lorie: LIKE NORA,

WHO'S SON WAS BORN

ADDICTED TO HEROIN.

I FOUND OUT WAS YOU YOU

YOU YOPREGNANT AND I WENT TO THE

DOCTOR AND SAID, I'M

PREGNANT AND I'M STRUNG

OUT ON HEROIN, WHAT DO WE

DO?

Reporter: HER BABY IS

CLEAN, BUT NORA IS STILL

IN RECOVERY.

WHAT IT TOOK WAS FOR ME

FALLING DOWN ON MY KNEES

IN FRONT OF GOD, TELLING

HIM HOW BROKEN I WAS AND

TO PLEASE COME TAKE THIS

FROM ME.

Lorie: VIRGINIA

DELEGATE TODD GILBERT

PUSHED THROUGH LEGISLATION

ALLOWING LAW ENFORCEMENT

TO ADMINISTER THE

SO-CALLED SAFE SHOT TO

OVERDOSE VICTIMS.

UNLESS WE CAN NIP IT IN

THE BUD, WE ARE LEFT ONLY

WITH THE OPTION OF TRYING

TO SAVE THEIR LIVES SHOULD

THEY -- SHOULD POLICE

OFFICERS FIND THEM IN

CRISIS.

Lorie: MOST STATES

ARE FOLLOWING THIS LEAD,

WITH SOME ALLOWING TRAINED

CITIZENS TO ADMINISTER THE

SAVE-SHOT, ALSO KNOWN AS

NALOXONE.

AND THERE IS THE 9-1-1

GOOD SAMARITAN LAW,

ALLOWING PEOPLE PRESENT

DURING AN OVERDOSE TO CALL

FOR HELP WITHOUT RISKING

ARREST, ALL IN AN EFFORT

TO LOOSEN HEROIN'S GRIP ON

OUR COUNTRY.

THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND

HIGHLY ADDICTED SUBSTANCE,

THAT EVEN TEENAGERS ARE

INTRAVENOUSLY INJECTING

INTO THEIR BODIES.

THAT IS A HORRIFIC THOUGHT

AND A HORRIFIC REALITY

THAT WE'RE FAG.

FACING.

AND IF WE DON'T GET A

HANDLE ON IT, THE HOW

OFTEN LOOKS BLEAK FOR OUR

CHILDREN AND THEIR FUTURE.

Lorie: LORIE JOHNSON,

CBN NEWS.

Terry: STARTLING,

STARTLING NEWS.

Gordon: VERY

STARTLING NEWS.

AND WE'RE JUST FINALLY

GETTING THE WHOLE

DISCUSSION ON THE NATIONAL

AGENDA.

AND WHAT HAPPENED IN THAT

STORY WITH CAITLIN, WHO

WAS POST-SURGERY, IT IS A

NORMAL THING, TO BE

PRESCRIBED PAINKILLERS.

AND UNFORTUNATELY FOR HER,

SHE GOT HEAVILY ADDICTED

TO THAT.

AND THEN INTRODUCED TO A

SUBSTITUTE.

WHAT MEDICAL SCIENCE IS

FINDING OUT NOW IS THAT

THE MERE TAKING OF AN

OPIOID PAINKILLER, IF YOU

TAKE IT OVER TIME, IT

CHANGES YOUR PERCEPTION OF

PAIN.

AND IT ACTUALLY MAKES PAIN

MORE PAINFUL.

SO LONG-TERM OPIOID USE TO

MANAGE TIME IS, OVER TIME,

INCREASING PAIN.

Terry: SO IF WE KNOW

THAT, AND IF THE NUMBERS

NUMBERS -- ARE WE GOING TO

DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT?

Gordon: I THINK WE

HAVE TO.

I THINK DOCTORS HAVE

GOTTEN MORE SENSITIVE

ABOUT THE PRESCRIPTION AND

MORE SENSITIVE ABOUT THE

USE OF DATA BASES TO SEE

WHO IS AT RISK AND WHO IS

ALREADY ABUSING SO THEY

DON'T GET ANYMORE

PRESCRIPTIONS.

BUT THE RISE OF THESE

STREET DRUGS, PARTICULARLY

THE FENTANYL-LACED ONES --

YOU'RE GOING TO SEE A RISE

IN OVER DOSES.

Terry: DO YOU THINK

THERE IS ENOUGH

INFORMATION OUT THERE FOR

YOUNG PEOPLE?

YOU BUY THAT STUFF AND YOU

DON'T KNOW WHAT'S IN IT.

I GUESS THAT HAS BEEN TRUE

FOR MANY YEARS.

Gordon: YES.

THE LURE OF FORBIDDEN

FRUIT IS A VERY OLD STORY.

Terry: YEAH.

BACK TO THE GARDEN.

> WELL, HOW ABOUT THIS:

IF YOU ARE STRUGGLING,

BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY

REAL STRUGGLE IN THE LIVES

OF MANY PEOPLE, OR SOMEONE

THAT YOU LOVE IS, WE'VE

GOT A WONDERFUL LITTLE

BROCHURE ON WHAT SCRIPTURE

HAS TO SAY, AND ALSO WHAT

DO YOU DO?

HOW DO YOU BEGIN HIS

PROCESS TO HELP YOURSELF

OR A LOVED ONE?

AND THIS IS FREE.

IT'S JUST CALLED "DRUGS."

AND THE NUMBER IS

1-800-700-7000.

AND WE'LL GET IT OUT TO

YOU RIGHT AWAY.

AND WE ALSO HAVE A LIST OF

WARNING SIGNS ON

cbnnews.com.

AND YOU CAN ALSO FIND OUT

WHERE TO GET HELP FOR

PEOPLE WHO ARE STRUGGLING

WITH ADDICTION.

Gordon: WELL, STILL

TO COME, THE FUNCTIONAL

METH HEAD WHO REACHED HER

BREAKING POINT IN THE BACK

OF A PRISON CELL.

SHE LOOKED AT ME AND

SHE GOES, YOU THINK THIS

IS BAD, WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE

THE REAL HELL.

Gordon: SEE WHAT

BROKE HER 11-YEAR

ADDICTION IN AN INSTANT,

RIGHT AFTER THIS.

Gordon: WELL, LIKE A

FINGERNAIL AT THE BACK OF

MY BRAIN, THAT'S HOW CHRIS

DESCRIBED HER METH

ADDICTION.

SHE SPENT MORE THAN A

DECADE ITCHING FOR MORE

DRUGS, AND HERE IS WHAT IT

TOOK TO BREAK HER HABIT

ONCE AND FOR ALL.

WHEN DAD GOT DRUNK,

THAT GOT SCARY.

BUT AS A LITTLE GIRL, I

ALWAYS JUST WANTED MY

DADDY SO MUCH.

Reporter: CHRIS'

PARENTS DIVORCED WHEN SHE

WAS FIVE, AND HER MOTHER,

WHO WAS A CHRISTIAN, WAS

GIVEN FULL CUSTODY.

BUT HER FATHER'S BEHAVIOR

CONTINUED TO INFLUENCE

HER.

I REMEMBER HIM ALWAYS

BEING REALLY

INAPPROPRIATE.

VERY SEXUALIZED TALK IN

FRONT OF ME, WHEN I WAS A

LITTLE GIRL.

Reporter: THEN WHEN

SHE WAS 13, HER FATHER'S

DRUNKEN SEXUAL TALK

ESCALATED.

IT NEVER WENT ALL THE

WAY TO TAKE MY VIRGINITY,

BUT IT WAS DEFINITELY

PHYSICAL.

Reporter: HER FATHER

MOLESTED HER FOR THREE

YEARS.

CHRIS WAS TOO EMBARRASSED

TO TELL HER MOTHER.

INSTEAD SHE STARTED

DRINKING AND DOING DRUGS

AND SEEKING OUT ATTENTION

FROM BOYS IN THE ONLY WAY

SHE KNEW HOW.

I THOUGHT MY WORTH AND

MY VALUE WAS IN MY SEX.

AND THAT'S HOW YOU GET

ATTENTION.

THAT'S HOW YOU GET

APPROVAL.

THAT'S HOW YOU GET LOVE,

BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT I'D

BEEN TAUGHT.

Reporter: CHRIS WAS

ALREADY ADDICTED TO DRUGS

AND ALCOHOL WHEN SHE LEFT

HOME AT 17 TO JOIN THE AIR

FORCE.

SHE STOPPED USING IN THE

MILITARY, BUT ONCE

HONORABLY DISCHARGED, SHE

TRIED METH FOR THE FIRST

TIME.

I REMEMBER THINKING,

OH, MY GOSH, I'VE FINALLY

FOUND THE THING I'VE BEEN

LOOKING FOR MY WHOLE LIFE,

THE YOU'VEEUPHORIA.

EVERYTHING WAS HEIGHTENED.

Reporter: SHE WAS

INSTANTLY HOOKED, AND

BEGAN USING EVERY DAY.

I WOULD TRY TO GO A DAY

WITHOUT METH, AND IT WAS

LIKE THIS FINGERNAIL AT

THE BACK OF MY HEAD AND IT

WOULD MAKE ME OBSESSED.

Reporter:

INCREASINGLY CRIPPLED BY

THE MEMORY OF HER FATHER'S

ABUSE, CHRIS REACHED OUT

TO HIM FOR SOME SORT OF

RESOLUTION.

I WROTE IN THIS LETTER,

TELL ME YOU'RE SORRY, AND

THAT'S ALL I NEED AND

WE'LL HAVE A FRIENDSHIP

AND A RELATIONSHIP.

AND HE WROTE ME BACK THIS

LETTER THAT SAID, "NO

APOLOGIES; NO REGRETS."

AND THAT WAS A BREAKING

POINT FOR ME.

AND I GOT REALLY SERIOUS

ABOUT MY DRUG ADDICTION

AFTER THAT.

ALMOST SO MUCH WANTING

SOMETHING FROM SOMEONE WHO

DIDN'T HAVE IT TO GIVE.

Reporter: CHRIS WAS A

FUNCTIONAL ADDICT, ABLE TO

WORK AS A BARTENDER AND

EVEN ATTEND COLLEGE.

BUT SHE WAS ALWAYS FEARFUL

OF RUNNING OUT OF METH AND

MADE A DEAL WITH HER

SUPPLIER.

SHE WOULD HAND OVER HER

COLLEGE AID MONEY IF HE

WOULD FRONT HER THE DRUGS.

THERE WAS THIS KNOCK AT

MY DOOR.

AND I OPEN THE DOOR, AND

THERE IS WHAT LOOKED LIKE

A S.W.A.T. TEAM.

AND THEY'RE SAID MY NAME.

AND THEY'RE PULLING ME OUT

OF THE DOOR, AND THEY'RE

ZIP-TYING MY HANDS BEHIND

ME AND TELLING ME I'M

UNDER ARREST FOR

CONSPIRACY TO TRAFFIC OVER

500 GRAMS OF

METHAMPHETAMINE.

I HAD, MAYBE TOPS, A HALF

GRAM IN MY HOUSE.

I'M, LIKE, THIS IS CRAZY.

Reporter: THE D.E.A.

HAD TAPPED HER PHONE AND

MISTAKENLY TAPPED HER AS

AN INVESTOR IN THE

BUSINESS.

CHRIS WAS CHARGED WITH A

FEDERAL OFFENSE.

WE WENT BEFORE THE

FEDERAL JUDGE, AND CARD

BLANCHCARTEBLANCHE, NONE OF US WAS

GETTING RELEASED.

Reporter: CHRIS

BECAME DESPERATE AFTER HER

CRAVING INTENSIFIED.

CONFESSING TO ANOTHER

INMATE THAT SHE FELT SHE

WAS IN HELL.

SHE LOOKED AT ME AND

SHE SAID, YOU THINK THIS

IS HELL, YOU WAIT UNTIL

YOU SEE THE REAL HELL.

AND THAT'S ALL IT TOOK.

AND I REMEMBERED ALL OF

THOSE YEARS OF MY MOM

TALKING ABOUT JESUS.

I THOUGHT, OH, MY GOSH,

I'VE GOT TO REACH OUT TO

JESUS.

SO I WENT INTO MY CELL,

AND I REMEMBER GETTING ON

MY KNEES AND ASKING JESUS

TO FORGIVE ME.

AND TO COME INTO MY HEART.

BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHERE

I WOULD HAVE ENDED UP HAD

THAT NOT HAPPENED.

BUT IT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN

GOOD, OR EVEN TO BE THAT

EMPTY.

ANOTHER SECOND.

Reporter: CHRIS GAVE

HER LIFE TO CHRIST THAT

DAY, AND SHE WAS GIVEN

SOMETHING IN RETURN.

I STOPPED CRAVING

DRUGS.

AND I NEVER FELT IT AGAIN.

I REALIZED THAT WAS THE

MOMENT HE HEALED ME.

HE HAD HEALED ME.

FROM AN ADDICTION THAT HAD

SPANNED MY ENTIRE LIFE.

IT WAS SUDDENLY LIFTED AND

GONE.

Reporter: CHRIS'

CHARGE WAS EVENTUALLY

REDUCED TO ONE COUNT OF

DRUG TRAFFICKING, AND SHE

WAS SENTENCED TO A YEAR IN

FEDERAL PRISON.

SHE CONTINUED TO GROW IN

HER FAITH AND STUDY THE

BIBLE.

AND SHE WAS FINALLY ABLE

TO FORGIVE HER FATHER.

THAT'S WHERE I GAINED

THE FREEDOM IN CHRIST,

WHERE HE REALLY SET ME

FREE.

AND I SEE MY DAD FOR WHAT

HE TRULY WAS, AND THAT WAS

JUST A BROKEN, HURTING

PERSON.

WHO, IN HIMSELF, NEEDED

THE LOVE OF HIS HEAVENLY

DADDY TO FIX HIM.

I THINK NOW THAT THAT WAS

A LIFE-LONG QUEST THAT HAS

FINALLY BE SACIATED INSIDE

OF ME BECAUSE OF MY

HEAVENLY DADDY.

Reporter: TODAY SHE

IS MARRIED AND SERVES AS

DIRECTOR OF A COUNSELLING

MINISTRY IN ILLINOIS.

AND AS A CHILD OF GOD, SHE

SEES HERSELF IN A WHOLE

NEW LIGHT.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT

I'VE LEARNED FROM GOD IS

THAT I'M A TREASURE.

YOU KNOW, I'M SPECIAL.

WE ALL ARE.

AND THAT, YOU KNOW, OUR

WORTH AND VALUE IS SET BY

WHAT CHRIST DID ON THE

CROSS.

SO TO HIM I'M WORTH

EVERYTHING.

Gordon: CHRIS FOUND

THE GREAT SECRET.

THE GREAT SECRET THAT

WE'RE ALL ON.

WE'RE ALL ON THIS QUEST

FOR GOD.

AND FOR CHRIS, THINGS

HAPPENED IN HER LIFE,

THINGS HAPPENED WITH HER

FATHER, THAT SET HER UP

FOR ADDICTION.

AND MAYBE YOU'VE BEEN SET

UP FOR ADDICTION.

MAYBE IT IS DEALING WITH

SOME KIND OF TRAUMA.

MAYBE SOMETHING

UNSPEAKABLE.

MAYBE SOMETHING YOU DON'T

EVEN REMEMBER.

BUT YOU HAVE THIS LONGING

THAT I NEED TO NUMB IT, I

NEED TO ESCAPE IT, I NEED

TO MEDICATE IT.

BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE

DOING IF YOUR ADDICTED TO

DRUGS.

YOU'RE TRYING TO FIND SOME

WAY TO DEAL WITH SOMETHING

YOU DON'T EVER WANT TO

INVADE YOUR CONSCIOUS.

YOU JUST WANT TO HAVE THIS

BE HIDDEN AWAY, TUCKED

AWAY, MEDICATED AWAY.

AND WHAT YOU'RE REALLY

LOOKING FOR IS THE LOVE OF

GOD.

THAT UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

THAT LET'S YOU KNOW HOW

WORTHY YOU ARE, HOW

WONDERFUL YOU ARE.

ARE WE WORTH WHAT JESUS

PAID ON THE CROSS FOR US?

IF YOU LOOK AT THAT IN THE

NATURAL, YOU GO, NO.

BUT IF YOU LOOK AT IT WITH

HIS EYES, AND YOU GO YES.

FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD

THAT HE GAVE HIS OWN

BEGOTTEN SON.

REALIZE THAT YOU'RE MADE

IN THE IMAGE OF GOD.

YOU HAVE HIS BREATH WITHIN

YOU.

AND HE THINKS THAT'S SO

VALUABLE, HE WAS WILLING

TO DIE SO THAT YOU CAN BE

RECONCILED WITH HIM, THAT

YOU COULD SPEND ETERNITY

WITH HIM.

CAN HE HANDLE YOUR

ADDICTION?

YES, HE CAN.

BUT YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT TO

HIM.

YOU HAVE TO SAY, JESUS, I

CAN'T DO THIS, BUT YOU CAN

DO IT FOR ME.

YOU HAVE TO SURRENDER TO

HIM.

IF YOU WANT TO DO THAT, IF

TODAY YOU WANT TO SAY, I

WANT TO KNOW THIS LOVE, I

WANT TO MEET THIS SAVIOR,

GIVE US A CALL:

1-800-700-7000.

AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT

LEAVING YOUR NAME OR ANY

INFORMATION.

JUST SAY, I NEED PRAYER,

AND WE'D BE GLAD TO PRAY

FOR YOU.

> WE LEAVE YOU WITH THIS

WORD FROM CORINTHIANS: "NO

TEMPTATION HAS OVER TAKEN

YOU ACCEPT SUCH AS IS

COMMON TO MAN.

BUT GOD IS FAITHFUL."

GOD BLESS YOU.

WE'LL SEE YOU AGAIN.
