Efrem: AHEAD ON

"NEWSWATCH," DONALD

TRUMP'S NOMINEES GET

GRILLED.

WHAT JEFF SESSIONS IS

SAYING ABOUT MUSLIMS,

IMMIGRANTS, AND ABOUT

ACCUSATIONS HE IS RACIST.

> PLUS...NO MORE MYSTERY

MEAT.

HOW TODAY'S SCHOOL LUNCHES

ARE HELPING CHILDREN TO

MAKE HEALTHIER CHOICES.

AND...

MY MOM TOLD ME THAT WE

DON'T TALK TO PEOPLE WHO

BELIEVE IN GOD BECAUSE

THEY'RE WEIRD OR THEY'RE

DIFFERENT.

Efrem: REACHING A

GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO DO NOT

WANT TO BE REACHED.

SEE THE GOSPEL STRATEGY

CHANGING LIVES AND MINDS.

> THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR

JOINING US FOR CBN

"NEWSWATCH."

I'M EFREM GRAHAM.

> JUST NINE DAYS BEFORE

INAUGURATION DAY, DONALD

TRUMP'S NEW GOVERNMENT IS

TAKING SHAPE.

LAWMAKERS ON CAPTO CAPITOL HILL

ARE MAKING THEIR WAY

THROUGH A HOST OF CABINET

HEARINGS, THIS AS TRUMP

HAS THIS FIRST NEWS

CONFERENCE SINCE BECOMING

PRESIDENT-ELECT.

GEORGE THOMAS HAS MORE.

George: REX

TILLERSON, TAPPED TO BE

DONALD TRUMP'S SECRETARY

OF STATE, IS EXPECTED TO

FACE A CONTENTIOUS

CONFIRMATION HEARING.

LAWMAKERS PLAN TO GRILL

THE FORMER EXXON C.E.O.

ABOUT CONNECTIONS TO

VLADIMIR PUTIN AND HIS

NUMEROUS GLOBAL BUSINESS

TIES, INCLUDING DEALINGS

WITH IRAN.

DESPITE THE POLITICAL

THEATRICS, MOST EXPECT HIM

TO BE CONFIRMED AS

AMERICA'S NEXT TOP

DIPLOMAT.

DO YOU SWEAR THAT THE

TESTIMONY YOU'RE ABOUT TO

GIVE BEFORE THIS

COMMITTEE...

George: AND TRUMP'S

ATTORNEY-GENERAL NOMINEE,

JEFF SESSIONS, IS BACK FOR

ANOTHER ROUND TODAY AFTER

FACING HOURS OF

QUESTIONING ON A WIDE

RANGE OF ISSUES, FROM

NATIONAL SECURITY,

SAME-SEX MARRIAGE,

ABORTION RIGHTS, TO A BAN

ON MUSLIMS COMING TO

AMERICA.

WOULD YOU SUPPORT A LAW

THAT SAYS YOU CAN'T COME

TOGETHER BECAUSE YOU'RE A

MUSLIM?

NO.

George: WHILE VOWING

TO PROTECT LAW AND ORDER,

SESSIONS ALSO SPENT TIME

DEFENDING HIS RECORD, AND

DENYING ALLEGATIONS OF

RACIAL ANIMOSITY,

ACCUSATIONS THAT DERAILED

HIS FEDERAL JUDICIAL

NOMINATION 30 YEARS AGO.

I'M THE SAME PERSON,

PERHAPS WISER AND MAYBE A

LITTLE BETTER -- I HOPE

SO -- TODAY THAN I WAS

THEN, BUT I DID NOT HARBOR

THE KIND OF ANIMOSITY AND

IDEAS I WAS ACCUSED OF.

I DID NOT.

George: MORE

CONFIRMATION HEARINGS ARE

SCHEDULED THROUGHOUT THE

WEEK.

AND TWO MONTHS AFTER

WINNING THE PRESIDENCY,

DONALD TRUMP HOLDS HIS

FIRST PRESS CONFERENCE

TODAY.

HE IS EXPECTED TO FACE

QUESTIONS ABOUT AN

UNVERIFIED REPORT WITH

ALLEGATIONS THAT RUSSIA

HAS COMPROMISING PERSONAL

AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION

ON HIM THAT COULD BE

DAMAGING.

TRUMP RESPONDED IN ALL

CAPS ON TWITTER, BLASTING

THE UNSUBSTANTIATED REPORT

AS FAKE NEWS.

AND THE KREMLIN ALSO

CHIMED IN, CALLING THE

ALLEGATIONS POP FICTION.

THE STORY BROKE HOURS

BEFORE PRESIDENT OBAMA

TOOK THE STAGE IN CHICAGO

FOR HIS FAREWELL SPEECH.

President Obama President Obama:

TONIGHT IS MY TURN TO SAY

THANK YOU.

WHETHER WE HAVE SEEN EYE

TO EYE OR RARELY AGREED AT

ALL, MY CONVERSATIONS WITH

YOU, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE,

IN LIVING ROOMS AND IN

SCHOOLS AND FARMS, ON

FACTORY FLOORS, IN DINERS,

AND ON MILITARY OUTPOSTS,

THE CONVERSATIONS ARE WHAT

HAVE KEPT ME HONEST AND

KEPT ME INSPIRED, AND KEPT

ME GOING.

AND EVERY DAY I HAVE

LEARNED FROM YOU.

YOU MADE ME A BETTER

PRESIDENT.

AND YOU MADE ME A BETTER

MAN.

George: BUT THE MAN

SET TO TAKE OVER FROM HIM

HAS VOWED TO UNDO MANY OF

HIS SIGNATURE POLICIES,

INCLUDING OBAMACARE.

TRUMP TELLING CONGRESS TO

REPEAL AND REPLACE THE LAW

IMMEDIATELY.

IN ADDITION TO FOCUSING ON

OBAMACARE, THERE ARE SIGNS

THAT TRUMP'S ECONOMIC PLAN

COULD HAVE POSITIVE

RESULTS.

THE WORLD BANK SAYS

TRUMP'S TAX CUTS COULD

JUMP-START THE U.S.

ECONOMY AND GROWTH AROUND

THE WORLD.

AND IT APPEARS AMERICA'S

SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS

CAN'T WAIT, EITHER.

A SURVEY SHOWS OPTIMISM

SURGING BY THE MOST SINCE

1980.

GEORGE THOMAS, CBN NEWS.

Efrem: PAUL RYAN IS

CONFIRMING REPUBLICANS

WILL REPEAL AND REPLACE

OBAMACARE AT THE SAME

TIME.

HIS COMMENTS ARE MEANT TO

CALM ANXIETY AS SOME

FEARED THAT THE G.O.P.

WOULD REPEAL THE HEALTH

CARE LAW WITHOUT PUTTING

AN ALTERNATIVE IN PLACE.

REPUBLICANS IN THE SENATE

WILL TRY TO USE FAST-TRACK

BUDGET RULES FOR PARTS OF

THE REPLACEMENT PAN.

> MAHMOUD ABBAS HAS SENT

A LETTER TO

PRESIDENT-ELECT DONALD

TRUMP, ASKING HIM NOT TO

MOVE THE U.S. EMBASSY TO

JERUSALEM.

THE OFFICIAL PALESTINIAN

NEWS SITE ABAS SAID IT

WOULD DISASTEROUSLY AFFECT

THE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN

PEACE PROCESS.

SHE TOLD CBN MANY

AMERICANS BELIEVE THAT

JERUSALEM IS THE CAPITAL

OF ISRAEL AND THE U.S.

EMBASSY SHOULD BE THERE.

IT WILL FALL TO THE

PRESIDENT AND HIS FOREIGN

POLICY ADVISORS TO LOOK

MORE INTO THIS ISSUE.

AND THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE

TO HAVE A STRATEGY.

AND PART OF A TORONTO BLUE

JAYS IA STRATEGY ISA COMMUNICATIONS POLICY .

HOW DO YOU MAKE IT CLEAR

TO THE REST OF THE WORLD

THAT THIS IS THE RIGHT

THING TO DO?

AND HOW DO YOU DO IT IN A

WAY THAT DOESN'T INCITE

VIOLENCE.

THERE IS ALWAYS GOING TO

BE OPPOSITION.

BUT THAT OPPOSITION CAN BE

INFORMED.

IT CAN BE CIVIL OR NOT.

Efrem: CONGRESS

MANDATED IN 1995 THAT THE

U.S. EMBASSY BE RELOCATED

TO JERUSALEM, BUT NO

PRESIDENT HAS EVER

FOLLOWED THROUGH ON A

PROMISE TO MAKE THE MOVE.

> A FEDERAL JURY HAS

SENTENCED DYLANN ROOF TO

DEATH FOR KILLING NINE

BLACK CHURCH MEMBERS AT A

CHURCH IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

ROOF ACTED AS HIS OWN

ATTORNEY IN THE SENTENCING

PHASE.

SPEAKING TO THE JURY, ROOF

DID NOT OFFER APOLOGIES

BUT INSTEAD SAID: "I STILL

FEEL LIKE I HAD TO DO IT."

JURY MEMBERS DELIBERATED

FOR THREE HOURS BEFORE

RETURNING WITH A DECISION.

HE ALSO FACES A STATE

TRIAL.

> A SCHOOL DISTRICT IN

JOPLIN, MISSOURI, HAS

SUSPENDED A MIDDLE SCHOOL

BIBLE STUDY AFTER A

COMPLAINT FROM THE

AMERICAN HUMANIST

ASSOCIATION.

THEY ACCUSED THE SCHOOL

AND CLERGY OF USING

DOUGHNUTS TO ATTRACT

STUDENTS TO THE GROUP.

PARTICIPATION WAS

VOLUNTARY IN THE STUDENT

BIBLE STUDY, BUT THEY DID

CANCEL THE PROGRAM BECAUSE

STUDENT INITIATED PROGRAMS

AREN'T ALLOWED.

> TODAY'S SCHOOL LUNCHES

ARE A LOT LIKE WHAT YOU

WOULD GET AT AMERICA'S

MOST POPULAR RESTAURANTS,

ONLY A LOT CHEAPER.

Lorie: THEY'LL NEVER

BE AS GOOD AS MOM'S HOME

COOKING, BUT TODAY'S

SCHOOL LUNCHES ARE EARNING

STRAIGHT "A"s.

MY FAVORITE FOOD I'VE

GOTTEN IS SPAGHETTI.

IT IS REALLY GOOD.

Lorie: THEY HAVEN'T

ALWAYS SCORED SUCH HIGH

MARKS.

A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO,

SCHOOLS NATIONWIDE STARTED

GETTING SERIOUS ABOUT

NUTRITION AND BEGAN

OFFERING MUCH HEALTHIER

CHOICES, LIKE THIS FRESH

CHICKEN SALAD.

THE PROBLEM WAS KIDS

DIDN'T ALWAYS CHOOSE WHAT

WAS BEST FOR THEM.

NEW FEDERAL NUTRITION

STANDARDS FOR SCHOOL MEALS

EMPHASIZE WHOLE GRAINS,

FEWER CALORIES, NO

TRANS-FATS, AND MORE GREEN

VEGETABLES.

IN FACT, KIDS ARE REQUIRED

TO CHOOSE FRUITS AND

VEGETABLES, BUT WHEN THOSE

ITEMS WERE DISCOVERED IN

THE TRASH, IT WAS BACK TO

THE DRAWING BOARD.

SO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

THINGS THAT HAVE GOOD EYE

APPEAL, THAT MEET, OF

COURSE, THE NUTRITIONAL

COMPONENTS, AND ALSO FOODS

THAT ARE KIDS ARE FAMILIAR

WITH.

Lorie: TODAY THE KIDS

ARE ENJOYING A MEXICAN

FIESTA, SIMILAR TO WHAT

THEY'RE USED TO EATING AT

CHIPOTLE.

AND OTHER DAYS, KNOCKOFFS

FROM THEIR OTHER FAVORITE

RESTAURANTS, LIKE PANERA.

WE STILL HAVE THINGS

LIKE PIZZA OR CHICKEN

NUGGETS ON THE MENU, BUT

IT IS NOT THE SAME AS 10

YEARS AGO.

PIZZA WILL HAVE A WHOLE

WHEAT CRUST AND LOWER-FAT

CHEESE.

AND MAYBE TURKEY.

AND THE CHICKEN NUGGETS

WILL HAVE A WHOLE GRAIN

BREADING.

Lorie: NEARLY

THREE-FOURTHS OF SCHOOLS

RELY ON STUDENT TASTE

TESTS.

ABOUT HALF OFFER

GLUTEN-FREE, AND

TWO-THIRDS BUY PRODUCE

GROWN AT NEARBY FARMS.

WE'LL BE LOOKING AT

LOCAL APPLES.

SEASOSEASONALITY IS STILL

IMPORTANT TO US.

Lorie: THE CHILDREN

HAVE LEARNED THE

IMPORTANCE OF EATING

RIGHT.

Reporter: DO YOU EVER

GET, LIKE, ICE CREAM AND

THINGS LIKE THAT?

WELL, I USUALLY GET ICE

CREAM OR SOME CHIPS EVERY

WEEK, LIKE ON A SPECIAL

OCCASION, IF IT IS A

ESPECIALLY DAY, LIKE MY

BIRTHDAY OR SOMETHING.

THAT'S WHAT I WOULD GET.

I WOULD GET SOMETHING LIKE

THAT.

Reporter: HI, GUYS,

WELCOME TO THE NUTRITION

EXPRESS.

Lorie: THIS CONVERTED

SCHOOL BUS IS A CAFETERIA.

THIS MEANS THAT THE

MESSAGE CAN REALLY SINK

IN.

Reporter: WHAT TYPES

OF FOODS ARE HEALTHY?

I THINK FRUITS AND

VEGETABLES.

Lorie: SO WHEN IT

COMES TO HEALTHY SCHOOL

LUNCHES, A THREE-PRONGED

APPROACH WORKS BEST:

BEEFED UP STANDARDS,

BETTER MARKETING, AND

TEACHING KIDS WHAT IT

MEANS TO CHOOSE WISELY.

LORIE JOHNSON, CBN NEWS.

Efrem: THE EUROPEAN

HUMAN RIGHTS COURT HAS

RULED MUSLIM GIRLS MUST

PARTICIPATE IN SWIMMING

CLASSES IN SWITZERLAND.

THE SCHOOL REJECTED AN

APPEAL BY HER TURKISH-BORN

PARENTS.

THE JUDGES AD TH ADMITTED

INTERSPHEERNINTERFERENCE IN THE

FREEDOM OF RELIGION, BUT

THAT THE SCHOOL HAS A

SPECIAL RULE FOR CHILDREN,

ESPECIALLY OF A FOREIGN

ORIGIN.

> "OPERATION BLESSING'S"

SNOW BUDDY'S PROGRAM HAS

BEEN HELPING FAMILIES WHO

WERE SNOWED IN.

I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I

WAS GOING TO DO.

I HAVE TO GIVE MY HUSBAND

MEDICINE.

HE IS DIABETIC.

Efrem: A SNOWY

DRIVEWAY AND BLACK ICE

MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR

SUZANNE AND HER HUSBAND TO

GET WHAT THEY NEEDED FOR

THEIR HEALTH.

SO "OPERATION BLESSING"

MADE SURE TO STOP TO HELP

THEM GET EXACTLY WHAT THEY

NEEDED.

IT IS JUST REALLY

BEAUTIFUL THAT THERE ARE

STILL PEOPLE WHO CARE

ABOUT A LOT OF, YOU KNOW,

SENIORS, YOU KNOW, THAT

JUST CAN'T GET OUT THERE

AND DO THIS.

SO THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Efrem: "OPERATION

BLESSING" ALSO HELPED A

MAN WHO HAD JUST HAD HEART

SURGERY, ALONG WITH OTHER

SNOWED-IN FAMILIES.

FOR MORE INFORMATION, YOU

CAN VISIT

operationblessing.org.

> AHEAD, 36 MILLION

AMERICANS CAN NOW BE

IDENTIFIED AS NONE.

SEE WHAT SOME OF THESE

PEOPLE WITH NO RELIGIOUS

AF AFFILIATION ARE NOW

GOING TO CHURCH.

Efrem: THEY'RE CALLED

"NONES," AND THEY'RE THE

GROWING NUMBER OF

AMERICANS WHO DON'T

IDENTIFY WITH ANY

RELIGIOUS GROUP.

THE QUESTION IS: HOW CAN

THEY BE REACHED?

HEATHER SELLS HAS THE

ANSWER.

Heather: AMANDA GREW

UP AS A "NONE."

SHE NEVER WENT TO CHURCH

OR SPOKE WITH ANYONE WHO

DID.

MY MOM ALWAYS TOLD ME

WE DON'T TALK TO PEOPLE

WHO BELIEVE IN GOD BECAUSE

THEY'RE WEIRD OR THEY'RE

DIFFERENT.

Heather: CRAIG, ON

THE OTHER HAND, GREW UP

GOING TO CHURCH BUT TOOK A

STAND IN HIGH SCHOOLLY.

AHIGH SCHOOL.

AT THAT POINT I SAID,

I'M DONE WITH CHURCH.

I DON'T SEE ANY REASON I

SHOULD BE GOING.

Heather: THE PEW

RESEARCH CENTER FOUND

ALMOST A QUARTER OF U.S.

ADULTS SAY THEY EITHER

QUESTION GOD'S RESISTANCE

OR THAT THEIR RELIGION IS

NOTHING IN PARTICULAR.

THAT IS UP SIGNIFICANTLY

IN THE LAST 10 YEARS, WITH

THESE "NONES" NOW

REPRESENTING 36 MILLION

AMERICANS.

PEW ALSO FOUND THAT A

THIRD OF YOUNG PEOPLE FALL

INTO THIS GROUP, AND HIGH

NUMBERS LIVE IN THE

NORTHWEST AND NORTHEAST.

SO WHY ARE SO MANY

AMERICANS DISCONNECTING

FROM CHURCH?

WE CAME HERE TO NEW

ENGLAND TO FIND OUT AND TO

LEARN WHAT CHURCHES HERE

ARE DOING TO BRING THEM

BACK.

IT IS A NEW PHENOMENON

THAT WE'RE TRYING TO

UNDERSTAND.

Heather: DR. SHARON

KETCHUM OUTSIDE OF BOSTON

IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT

WHY A NEW GENERATION IS SO

ANTI-CHURCH.

WHAT WE DO BELIEVE IS

THESE "NONES" DON'T

BELIEVE IN THEIR FAITH OR

THE NEED FOR CHURCH.

THIS IS WHAT HE THOUGHT IN

HIS 20s.

IT WAS, OKAY, YES, I

BELIEVE IN YOU, GOD, BUT

I'M GOING TO DO THINGS MY

WAY.

AND AS LONG AS I'M A GOOD

PERSON AND I DO ENOUGH

GOOD DEEDS, THAT WILL BE

ENOUGH.

Heather: OTHERS SAY

THEY'RE UNSURE ABOUT

SO-CALLED ORGANIZED

RELIGION OR JUST DON'T GO.

CHURCH NEVER CROSSED MY

MIND AS SOMETHING THAT I

NEEDED TO DO.

Heather: KETCHUM SEES

A BIGGER PICTURE, WHERE

PEOPLE JUDGE CHURCH BASED

ON WHAT IT PROVIDES FOR

THEIR PERSONAL NEEDS.

WE THEN HAVE THE

AMPLIFICATION OF ME AND

JESUS, AND A REDUCTION OF

THE WHAT THE LARGER

UNDERSTANDING OF THE

COMMUNITY OF FAITH IS ALL

ABOUT.

Heather: ANOTHER

PROBLEM IS SIMPLY THE

GROWING NUMBER OF CHOICES.

THERE ARE DAYS THAT WE

LIVED IN WHEN COMMUNITY

WAS A GIVEN IN OUR LIVES.

BUT TODAY COMMUNITY IS VOL

TORY.

VOLUNTARY.

I CAN CHOOSE WHATEVER

PROGRAM MEETS MY PERSONAL

NEEDS.

Heather: PASTOR CHAD

BRASWELL IS AWARE OF THOSE

WHO ARE DISCONNECTED, BUT

HE IS NOT DISCOURAGED.

I THINK WHEN TIMES GET

DARKER, LIGHT SHINES

BRIGHTER.

IT IS AN INTERESTING THING

WE'RE SEEING HERE.

YES, I SEE THE NUMBERS

THAT YOU SEE, BUT I SEE

THIS GROWING HUNGER AFTER

CHRIST.

Heather: MANY

FIRST-TIMERS COMING TO HIS

CHURCH TELL BRASWELL THEIR

EXPERIENCES OF GUILT OR

SHAME IN PREVIOUS CHILDREN

OVERWHELMED ANY MESSAGE OF

GRACE OR HOPE.

A LOT OF CHURCHES PUT

SO MUCH FOCUS ON HOLINESS

RATHER THAN THE HOPE THAT

JESUS TALKS ABOUT.

I THINK SOME PEOPLE JUST

FEEL THEY CAN'T LIVE UP TO

THAT EXPECTATION AND THE

GUILT OF WHAT THEY'VE DONE

OR WHAT THEY ARE INTO.

Heather: A FOCUS ON

GRACE DREW IN AMANDA HER

FIRST TIME.

THE SINGLE MOM REMEMBERS A

CO-WORKERS INVITATION TO

AN EASTER SERVICE AND HOW

SHE CRIED THROUGHOUT THE

SERMON.

I WAS SO FREAKED OUT

ABOUT THE ENTIRE MESSAGE

AND CRYING.

I WENT OUT BACK AND I GOT

MY DAUGHTER AND I SAID,

WE'RE NEVER COMING BACK

HERE.

BUT SHE WAS, LIKE, MOM,

BUT I MET SO MANY NEW

FRIENDS.

WE HAVE TO COME BACK.

I LOVE IT HERE.

Reporter: TODAY

AMANDA IS INVOLVED IN

MULTIPLE MINISTRIES AT

METRO CHURCH, AS IS CRAIG,

WHO'S WIFE BROUGHT HIM

FIVE YEARS AGO.

AT THIS POINT IN MY

LIFE, I COULDN'T IMAGINE

DOING LIFE WITHOUT THIS

COMMUNITY, WITHOUT THIS

GROUP OF PEOPLE.

Heather: THAT DEEP

CONNECTION IS KEY BECAUSE

RESEARCH SHOWS THAT PEOPLE

LONG FOR COMMUNITY.

AND A BIGGER PURPOSE THAN

JUST THEMSELVES.

THERE IS NO EASY FIX OR

FORMULA FOR REACHING THOSE

WHO HAVE STEPPED AWAY FROM

CHURCH, BUT A CHURCH THAT

LOVES ITS MEMBERS AND

COMMUNITY IS A GREAT

START.

> REPORTING IN

MASSACHUSETTS, HEATHER

SELLS, CBN NEWS.

Efrem: UP NEXT, A

YOUNG SYRIAN WOMAN WHO

SCREAPPEESCAPED THE TERROR OF

ISIS.

HER BEST FRIEND WAS KILLED

BY A TERRORIST'S BOMB.

SEE HOW HER CHRISTIAN

FRIENDS ARE GIVING HER

HOPE FOR THE FUTURE.

Efrem: REEM IS A

13-YEAR-OLD GIRL WHO'S

BEST-FRIENDLY WAS KILLED

BY A BOMB IN SYRIA.

SHE AND HER MOTHER ESCAPED

TO LEBANON, WHERE THEY

STRUGGLED JUST TO GET BY.

THEN REEM RECEIVED AN

INVITATION THAT NOT ONLY

CHANGED HER LIFE, IT HAS

ALSO GIVEN HER A PROMISING

FUTURE.

Reporter: WALKING

THROUGH THIS SMALL

APARTMENT BUILDING SHE NOW

CALLS HOME, SHE IS

REMINDED OF HER FORMER

LIFE IN SYRIA AND HOW THE

WAR CHANGED EVERYTHING IN

AN INSTANT.

THE BOMBS FELL AROUND

US.

ONE KILLED MY BEST FRIEND,

WHO WAS PLAYING IN A

NEARBY FIELD.

THEN A BOMB HIT OUR HOUSE

AND WE RAN.

I WAS SO SCARED.

Reporter: THE FAMILY

FOUND A CAR AND MADE THEIR

WAY THROUGH THE CHECK

POINTS INTO SOUTHERN

LEBANON, CLAIMING TO BE

WORKERS.

WHEN I MET REEM'S MOTHER,

SHE EXPLAINED THEY LIVE IN

POVERTY AND A SHARED

APARTMENT EVER SINCE.

WE OFTEN HAVE TO DEPEND

ON OTHERS FOR HELP WITH

FOOD AND RENT.

BUT ONE OF THE HARDEST

THINGS IS SEEING REEM NOT

GETTING A GOOD EDUCATION.

I WOULD SEE HER STANDING

ON THE BALCONY, SADLY

WATCHING OTHER KIDS GO TO

SCHOOL.

THAT MADE ME CRY.

FOR A LITTLE WHILE I WENT

TO A PUBLIC SCHOOL THAT

LET IN REFUGEE CHILDREN,

BUT THE TEACHERS WERE MEAN

AND BEAT ME AND OTHERS FOR

IN REASON, SO I STOPPED

GOING.

Reporter: THEN REEM

WAS INVITED TO COME TO THE

"HEART FOR LEBANON" HOPE

CENTER, WHICH IS SUPPORTED

BY CBN.

SHE STUDIED ENGLISH,

ARABIC, AND MATH, AND THEY

LEARN ABOUT THE LOVE OF

JESUS CHRIST.

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL SO

MUCH BECAUSE THE TEACHERS

TREAT US REALLY WELL.

MY FAVORITE THING IS

LEARNING ABOUT JESUS AND

HOW HE DIED ON THE CROSS

TO SAVE PEOPLE FROM THEIR

SINS.

Reporter: ALL OF THE

KIDS HERE COME FROM MUSLIM

FAMILIES.

THEIR PARENTS KNOW THIS IS

AN OPENLY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

AND THAT THIS IS THE BEST

CHANCE THEY HAVE AT

GETTING A GOOD EDUCATION.

I HAVE NO PROBLEM AT

ALL WITH REEM GOING TO A

CHRISTIAN SCHOOL.

ON THE CONTRARY, H SHE HAS

LEARNED LOVE AND

FORGIVENESS HERE.

SHE NOW TELLS ME ABOUT

GOOD MANNERS BE ABOUT A

POSITIVE ATTITUDE.

I REALLY ENJOY

"SUPERBOOK" BECAUSE I CAN

SEE THE STORIES OF JESUS.

I LIKE THAT JESUS IS

TEACHING US NOT TO LIE OR

HURT OTHERS, BUT TO

RESPECT LIFE AND FORGIVE

THOSE WHO DO BAD TO US.

MY FAVORITE PART IS

GETTING UP AND PRAYING TO

JESUS AFTER A "SUPERBOOK"

EPISODE.

Reporter: REEM AND

HER MOTHER ALSO GET FOOD

FROM "HEART FOR LEBANON"

AND CBN.

SEEING REEM COME HOME

EXCITED ABOUT SCHOOL AND

READY FOR A GOOD MEAL

REALLY MAKES ME HAPPY.

SHE HAS A CHANCE FOR A

GOOD FUTURE, WHICH IS VERY

RARE FOR GIRLS IN OUR

CULTURE.

I JUST WANT TO THANK ALL

OF THE PEOPLE WHO ARE

HELPING SUPPORT US.

GOD BLESS YOU.

I WANT TO THANK THE

CHRISTIANS AND EVERYONE

WHO IS HELPING US WITH ALL

OF MY HEART.

I PRAY THAT PEOPLE

WOULD START DOING EVIL

THINGS TO ONE ANOTHER.

JESUS MEANS THE WORLD TO

ME.

MUCH-NEEDED HELP FROM

"OPERATION BLESSING" TO

BRING SAFE WATER AND

BETTER HYGIENE FOR THREE

STUDENTS.

IN THE COMMUNITY, THERE IS

ONE SCHOOL WHICH HAS 55

CHILDREN, BUT THERE WAS NO

SAFE WATER FOR THEM TO

DRINK.

AND WITHOUT WATER, THERE

WAS NO WAY FOR THEM TO

WASH THEIR HANDS.

THANKS TO "OPERATION

BLESSING," THE STUDENTS

NOW HAVE CLEAN WATER,

THREE BATHROOMS, AND TWO

HANDWASHING STATIONS.

THE WATER SYSTEM WILL NOT

ONLY HELP THE STUDENTS,

BUT IT WILL GIVE THE

ENTIRE COMMUNITY CLEAN

WATER.
