Efrem: SECONDS AWAY

ON "STUDIO 5"...

YOU TOLD ME TO COME OUT

HERE.

THAT IS HAPPENING

INSIDE YOU.

Efrem: TAKING YOU

BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE

NEW FILM "THE SHACK."

PRODUCTION FOR THE FILM

UNFOLDED OVER THE COURSE

OF TWO MONTHS HERE IN

VANCOUVER.

WE'R ONSET WITH THE CAST.

I WANTED TO BE A PART

OF THIS FILM BECAUSE IT

MEANS SO MUCH TO ME

PERSONALLY.

Efrem: AND TAKING A

CLOSER LOOK AT THE

BEST-SELLING BOOK.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT MORE

THAN 19 MILLION PEOPLE

BUYING AND READING THIS

BOOK.

ANY NERVES GOING INTO

THIS?

PEOPLE LOVE THIS.

I'M NERVOUS JUST DOING

THIS INTERVIEW RIGHT NOW.

Efrem: PLUS...AN

EXCLUSIVE SAMPLE OF THE

SOUNDTRACK.

*

Efrem: ALL IN "STUDIO

5," STARTING NOW.

*

Efrem: AND WELCOME TO

"STUDIO 5."

THIS WEEK WE ARE AT A LONE

SHACK IN THE WOODS TO

BRING YOU A

BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOOK AT

THE FILM "THE SHACK."

WE'LL GET TO THAT IN JUST

A BIT.

BUT, FIRST, LIKE WE DO

EVERY WEEK, LET'S COUNT

DOWN THE TOP FIVE TRENDING

STORIES IN UPLIFTING

ENTERTAINMENT.

AT NUMBER FIVE...

WE HAVE NEVER DONE

ANYTHING THIS BIG BEFORE.

WE REACHED OUT TO THE

PEOPLE AT WAL-MART, AND

THEY WANT TO GIVE EACH ONE

OF YOU A FOUR-YEAR

SCHOLARSHIP --

[CHEERING]

[YELLING]

[APPLAUSE]

Efrem: CHEERS TO

ELLEN, GIVING FULL

SCHOLARSHIPS TO AN ENTIRE

SENIOR CLASS AT A CHARTER

SCHOOL IN A STRUGGLING

BROOKLYN NEIGHBORHOOD.

TO HELP THE STUDENTS AT

THE ACADEMY TO CONTINUE

THEIR EDUCATION, WAL-MART

IS DONATING A FOUR-YEAR

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP TO ANY

STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW

YORK, AND EVERY O IN

YOUR SENIOR CLASS IS

GETTING THAT.

IT IS A GIFT WORTH

$1.6 MILLION.

Efrem: AT NUMBER

FOUR...

I NEED TO REPORT A

MISSING PERSON.

Efrem: ACTOR STEPHEN

BALDWIN BATTLES SEX

TRAFFICKING IN A NEW

FAITH-BASED DRAMATIC

THRILLER.

PLEASE LET ME GO.

I PROMISE I WON'T SAY

ANYTHING.

Efrem: WHERE A

JOURNALIST WHO COVERS THE

CRIME GOES MISSING ON HER

WEDDING NIGHT.

"RUN" PREMIERES MARCH

9th.

HE SAID...

Efrem: AND THAT'S A

LOOK AT NUMBER FIVE AND

NUMBER FOUR.

THE COUNTDOWN CONTINUES IN

JUST A BIT.

> WILLIAM PAUL YOUNG

WROTE "THE SHACK" IN 2007

AND PUBLISHED IT ON HIS

OWN.

IT HAS NOW GROWN TO SELL

MORE THAN 20 MILLION

COPIES.

AND NOW IT IS A MAJOR

MOTION PICTURE.

HERES YOUR FIRST LOOK.

WE ARE THE ONLY TELEVISION

NEWS CREW ALLOWED ONSET

FOR THIS BEHIND-THE-SCENES

LOOK AT "THE SHACK."

YOU TOLD ME TO COME OUT

HERE.

IT IS HAPPENING INSIDE

YOU.

Efrem: BASED ON THE

BEST-SELLING BOOK, IT

TELLS THE STORY OF A

FATHER WHO'S FAITH IS

SHAKEN AFTER TRAGEDY,

WONDERING HOW A GOOD GOD

WOULD ALLOW SH A

NIGHTMARE TO HAPPEN.

THERE IS A BEAUTIFUL

JOURNEY THAT YOU HAVE TO

TAKE, THAT I REALIZE NOW,

WHEN YOU TAKE ON A ROLE --

WELL, THE ROLE OF GOD --

AND IT JUST SHOWS YOU JUST

HOW HUMAN YOU ARE.

Efrem: OSCAR-WINNER

OCTAVIA SPENCER PLAYS THE

ROLE OF GOD.

AFFECTIONATELY CALLED

PAPA.

YOU ARE EVERYWHERE.

YOU HAVE LIMITLESS POWER.

AND SOMEHOW YOU LET MY

LITTLE GIRL DIE.

WHEN SHE NEEDED YOU MOST.

YOU ABANDONED HER.

Efrem: SAM

WORTHINGTON IS MAX.

I NEVER LET HER GO.

IF YOU ARE WHO YOU SAY

YOU ARE, WHERE WERE YOU

WHEN I NEEDED YOU?

Efrem: ON THE

SURFACE, MAX, INITIALLY IN

THIS FILM, SEEMS TO HAVE

IT ALL TOGETHER, DESPITE

THE THINGS HE'S GONE

THROUGH.

AND THEN WE LEARN, AS THE

LAYERS GET PEELED BACK --

I LIKE TAKING ON

CHARACTERS WHERE THEY HAVE

THESE CHALLENGES WITHIN

THEMSELVES.

AND THEN THE CHALLENGES

KIND OF RIPPLE OUT.

I'VE DONE A LOT OF MOVIES

THAT ARE QUEST MOVIES.

AND THIS, IN A WAY, IS

LIKE THAT.

IT IS A QUEST TO DISCOVER

WHAT YOUR FAITH IS.

IS WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN

YOUR HEART GOING TO HELP

YOU THROUGH THE HARD

TIMES.

Efrem: THE SETTING

FOR PAUL YOUNG'S BOOK IS A

LONE SHACK IN THE WOODS.

IT IS A STORY OF LOVE AND

LOSS, HE INITIALLY WROTE

IT AS A CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR

HIS CHILDREN.

IT CAME FROM 50 YEARS

OF TRYING TO FIND GOOD

RESPONSES TO GOOD

QUESTIONS.

IT TOOK ME 50 YEARS TO

ACTUALLY BECOME A CHILD,

AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO

TAKE 50 YEARS OF HISTORY

AND GIVE A GIFT OF

CHRISTMAS TO MY KIDS.

Efrem: WHAT WERE YOUR

KIDS' RESPONSES,

INITIALLY?

THANKS, DAD.

A BOOK.

WE'LL GET RIGHT ON THAT.

BUT WHEN THEY READ IT,

THEY WERE TOUCHED, EVERY

ONE OF THEM DIFFERENTLY.

Efrem: THIS BOOK GOES

FROM SELF-PUBLISHED TO

SELLING 22 MILLION COPIES,

AND NOW A MAJOR MOTION

PICTURE.

WHEN YOU SAT DOWN TO WRITE

THIS STORY, DID YOU

ENVISION ALL OF THIS?

OH, NO.

ARE YOU KIDDING?

I MADE 15 COPIES AT OFFICE

DEPOT, THAT DID EVERYTHING

I WANTED THAT BOOK TO DO.

SO THIS IS A MONUMENTAL

SURPRISE WITH THE KINDNESS

OF GOD.

Efrem: WITH SUCCESS

MES CRITICS.

PEOPLE BEING CRITICAL OF

THE WAY YOU CHOSE TO

PORTRAY GOD.

THOUGH A WORK OF FICTION,

SOME HAVE CALLED YOUNG'S

DEPICTION OF GOD, JESUS

CHRIST, AND THE HOLY

SPIRIT, PROFOUNDLY

UNBIBLICAL.

ONE SEMINARY PROFESSOR

WROTE HIS OWN BOOK IN

RESPONSE CALLED "BURNING

DOWN THE SHACK."

WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THEM?

WE NEED TO BE CHALLENGE

CHALLENGED ABOUT HOW WE

THINK.

A LOT OF TIMES PEOPLE'S

RESPONSES ARE BASED ON

THEY'RE AFRAID.

WHEN A PERSON IS UPSET,

THEY'RE NOT COMING TO TELL

ME ABOUT ME.

I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT ME.

THEY'RE COMING TO TELL ME

ABOUT WHAT MATTERS TO

THEM.

IF I'M NOT AT RISK, I CAN

STEP INSIDE THAT SPACE.

MAYBE ASK A QUESTION,

MAYBE STAY SILENT, BUT

RESPECTFUL.

IT IS ABOUT THE DIGNITY OF

THE OTHER.

Efrem: AND IN MAX'S

FICTIONAL JOURNEY, HE SEES

JESUS AS A MIDDLE EASTERN

MAN AND THE HOLY SPIRIT AS

AN ASIAN WOMAN, AND GOD AS

A BLACK WOMAN.

DON'T EVER THINK THAT

WHAT MY SON CHOSE TO DO

DIDN'T COST US DEARLY.

Efrem: HOW DO YOUR

ROLE COMPARE TO HOW YOU

MAY HAVE PICTURED GOD

GROWING UP?

VERY DIFFERENTLY.

IT ACTUALLY BROKE A FEW

CONVICTIONS FOR ME.

I LIKE THE IDEA OF A

REGULAR PERSON'S

CONVERSATION WITH GOD.

BASICALLY THE BREAKTHROUGH

FOR ME WAS REALIZING THAT

THE FATHER IS THE FATHER.

SO I APPROACHED IT AS A

PARENT TO A SON.

AND GOD IS ESSENTIALLY

LOVE.

HE IS COMING AT YOU IN THE

FORM OF LOVE.

SO WHATEVER HELPS EMBRACE

YOU AND GIVES YOU THAT

LOVE IS A GREAT IDEA.

Efrem: IT IS WHO WE

NEED AT THAT TIME?

THAT'S RIGHT.

Efrem: YOU CAN FIND

"THE SHACK" IN THEATERS

BEGINNING MARCH 3rd.

> STILL AHEAD ON "STUDIO

5"...

ABSOLUTELY.

Efrem: GETTING A BIT

MORE PERSONAL WITH THE MAN

BRINGING A HEARTBROKEN

FATHER FROM THE PAGES TO

THE SCREEN.

Efrem: DID YOU SEE

ANY OF SAM WORTHINGTON IN

MAX?

I'VE BUILT MY SHACK.

IF "THE SHACK" IS A

METAPHOR FOR ALL OF THE

ANGER AND THE GUILT AND

Efrem: AND WELCOME

BACK TO STROIMENTD.

"STUDIO 5."

WE ARE CONTINUING OUR

COUNTDOWN OF THIS WEEK'S

TOP FIVE TRENDING STORIES.

HERE ARE THE NEXT TWO.

> AT NUMBER

THREE...VIOLA DAVIS'

HISTORIC OSCAR WIN.

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO

VIOLA DAVIS.

I BECAME AN ARTIST, AND

THANK GOD I DID BECAUSE WE

ARE THE ONLY PROFESSION

THAT CELEBRATES WHAT IT

MEANS TO LIVE A LIFE.

Efrem: THE FIRST

BLACK ACTRESS TO WIN AN

OSCAR, AN EMMY, AND A

TONY.

AND I CAN'T BELIEVE MY

LIFE.

YOU KNOW?

I MEAN, MY SISTER IS

SOMEWHERE HERE.

I GREW UP IN POVERTY.

YOU KNOW?

I GREW UP IN APARTMENTS

THAT WERE CONDEMNED AND

RAT-INFESTED.

AND I JUST ALWAYS SORT OF

WANTED TO BE SOMEBODY.

AND I JUST WANTED TO BE

GOOD AT SOMETHING.

AND, UM, SO THIS IS SORT

OF LIKE THE MIRACLE OF

GOD.

Efrem: NUMBER

TWO...FORMER NEW YORK

KNICK AND M.B.A. ALL STAR,

AMARE STOUDEMIRE IS STILL

IN THE GAME, PLAYING IN

ISRAEL ON A TEAM WHERE HE

IS PART OWNER.

I WANTED TO PLAY

BASKETBALL HERE IN

JERUSALEM.

Efrem: HE WAS HONORED

ON SUNDAY WITH A MARTIN

LUTHER KING, JR. AWARD FOR

HIS WORK OFF THE COURT

WITH AT-RISK CHILDREN.

> AND THERE IS ONLY

ONEMORE LEFONEMORE LEFT IN THE

COUNTDOWN.

WE'LL GET TO THAT IN A

MOMENT.

> ACTOR SAM WORTHINGTON

HAS A BIT OF A STORY ABOUT

HIS SHACK.

IF YOU ARE WHO YOU SAY

YOU ARE, WHERE WERE YOU

WHEN I NEEDED YOU?

WHEN ALL YOU SEE IS

YOUR PAIN, YOU LOSE SIGHT

OF ME.

THIS MAN GETS TO SHARE

WITH GOD, JESUS, AND THE

HOLY SPIRIT.

THERE WAS SOMETHING IN HIM

THAT HAD THOSE

CONVERSATIONS AT SOME

POINT IN MY LIFE AND STILL

DO NOW.

DON'T EVER THINK WHAT

MY SON CHOSE TO DO DIDN'T

COST US DEARLY.

Efrem: DID YOU SEE

ANY OF SAM WORTHINGTON IN

MAX?

YES.

I'VE BUILT MY SHACK, IF

"THE SHACK" IS A METAPHOR

FOR ALL OF THE ANGER AND

THE GUILT AND THE

RESENTMENT AND THE

FRUSTRATIONS WE HAVE WITH

LIFE.

AND THEN WE LIVE IN IT.

I HAVE DEFINITELY LIVED IN

MINE SOMETIME IN MY LIFE.

AND, OF COURSE, I'VE

STRUGGLED WITH THE

QUESTIONS THAT MAX HAS

TOWARDS HIS FAITH AND

TOWARDS GOD, OF WHY IS

THIS HAPPENING TO ME?

AND WHY DOES BAD STUFF

HAPPEN TO OTHERS?

ALL OF THESE KIND OF

MASSIVE QUESTIONS THAT TO

SOME OF US REMAIN

UNANSWEREDED ANDANSWERED AND

CHALLENGING.

Efrem: HOW HAVE YOU

SETTLED THOSE QUESTIONS

FOR YOURSELF?

OR HAVE YOU?

AS MAX SAYS, HE IS JUST

BEGINNING HIS JOURNEY.

AND I THINK I'M ON A

JOURNEY.

I CAME TO MY FAITH VERY

LATE.

I WAS IN MY 20s WHEN I

KIND OF WAS GIVEN A BIBLE

TO READ BY MY FRIEND, TO

TELL ME TO CALM DOWN.

I WAS DATING A LOT OF

GIRLS THAT WERE RELIGIOUS,

SO I WOULD GO TO THEM TO

CHURCH.

IT WAS SOMETHING THAT I

JOURNEYED TO, DISCOVERING

HOW FAITH CAN HELP YOU

BECOME A BETTER PERSON.

SO DOING SOMETHING LIKE

THIS WAS JUST PART OF THAT

JOURNEY.

Efrem: SOME PERSONAL

QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR

JOURNEY, I'VE READ THAT

YOUR DAD, WHEN YOU DROPPED

OUT OF COLLEGE, GIVES YOU

$400 AND A ONE-WAY TICKET

AND SAID, WORK YOUR WAY

BACK HOME.

I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I

WANTED TO DO WITH MY LIFE,

AND MY DAD DIDN'T WANT ME

SITTING ON THE COUCH

WATCHING TV AND WASTING

THIS SPECIAL GIFT.

SO HE SAID, I'LL SEND YOU

AS FAR AWAY, ON THE OTHER

SIDE OF AUSTRALIA, TO

WHERE WE LIVE, AND WORK

YOUR WAY BACK UP AND GROW

UP.

Efrem: WHAT WAS THAT

JOURNEY LIKE?

YOU'RE 18, 19 -- IT'S

DIFFICULT, RECKLESS.

BUT YOU LEARN WAY MORE

THAN I WOULD HAVE ON THE

COUCH, AND WATCHED

PEOPLE'S LIVES.

IT IS ONE OF THOSE

EXPERIENCES THAT I LOOK ON

FONDLY, BUT I ALSO LOOK

BACK ON AND SAY, I WON'T

TELL ANYONE THAT STORY.

BUT YOUR 19, 20, AND YOU

THINK YOU CAN RULE THE

WORLD.

Efrem: YOU HAVE TWO

BOYS NOW, AND WOULD YOU

SEND EITHER OF THEM ON A

JOURNEY LIKE THAT?

YEAH, PROBABLY.

IT'S WEIRD.

I'M A LONG WAY OFF FROM

THOSE KIND OF BIG

QUESTIONS WITH MY SONS.

WE'LL SEE.

[LAUGHTER]

BUT I THINK ANY KIND OF

JOURNEY, BE IT A PHYSICAL

ONE OR A SPIRITUAL ONE, A

SELF-REFLECTING ONE, I

THINK IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT.

Efrem: I ALSO READ

THAT YOU SOLD EVERYTHING

AT ONE POINT AND LIVED IN

A CAR.

AND WHAT HAPPENED --

BEFORE I TURNED 30.

I HAD A SOLID CAREER IN

AUSTRALIA, MAKING MOVIES,

BUT I LOOKED AROUND AT

EVERYTHING THAT I OWNED

AND I FELT LIKE IT WAS

DEFINING ME, AND I DIDN'T

LIKE WHO IT WAS DEFINING

AND WHAT IT WAS SAYING.

I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR ONE

DAY AND DIDN'T LIKE WHAT I

SAW, SO I THOUGHT I WOULD

SELL THE MIRROR.

THEN I LIVED IN THE CAR

FOR A BIT TO FORGIV FIGURE OUT

WHAT I WAS DOING.

Efrem: DID YOU FIND

GOD?

I FOUND A LOT OF

QUESTIONS.

AS I SAY, I CAME TO MY

FAITH REALLY LATE.

SO I WAS ABOUT TURNING 30

WHEN I DID THAT.

AND THE QUESTIONS THAT YOU

HAVE ARE ANGRY-MAN

QUESTIONS.

WHY?

WHAT'S GOING ON IN MY

LIFE?

WHAT AM I DOING?

WHY AM I HERE?

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO

ME?

AND I THINK THAT WHEN I

REACHED OUT TO GOD, I GOT

SOMEONE THAT LISTENED FOR

THE FIRST TIME AND WASN'T

JUDGEMENTAL.

AND I MAY NOT HAVE GOT THE

ANSWERS BACK, BUT I HAD A

COMFORTING YEAR.

SO SITTING IN THE BACK OF

THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF

THE SNOW, ANGRY AT

EVERYTHING AND ANGRY AT

MYSELF AND RAILING AT

EVERYTHING, WHAT I GOT

BACK WAS, IT'S OKAY.

IT'S GOING TO BE OKAY.

AND THAT LOVE KIND OF

HELPS YOU THROUGH.

Efrem: HAS THAT

CHANGED YOUR LIFE, THAT

CONNECTION?

YEAH, THAT THERE IS

SOMEONE ALWAYS THERE.

BEING CONNECTED TO GOD CAN

HELP US CONNECT TO EACH

OTHER.

Efrem: UP NEXT ON

"SDIO 5"...

* SO HERE I AM

* YOU'RE THE ONE WHO HOLDS

THE STARS *

Efrem: SAMPLING THE

MUSIC BEHIND THE MOVIE IN

SPHRAIRNL Efrem: AND WELCOME

BACK TO "STUDIO 5."

IT IS TIME FOR NUMBER ONE

IN OUR WEEKLY COUNTDOWN.

> NUMBER ONE IS PROBABLY

NO SURPRISE.

I'M NOT WHO YOU THINK I

AM.

Efrem: OCTAVIA

SPENCER FOLLOWS UP HER

OSCAR-NOMINATED

PERFORMANCE IN "HIDDEN

FIGURES," WITH THE

PREMIERE OF "THE SHACK."

Efrem: WHEN IT COMES

TO PLAYING GOD, ANY

INTIMIDATION TAKING ON

THIS ROLE?

ABSOLUTELY.

I'M USED TO PLAYING

PEOPLE, NOT THIS SPREARM SUPREME

BEING.

I WAS REALLY STRESSED OUT

ABOUT IT.

I WAS EXCITED BECAUSE I

PURSUED THE ROLE, BUT THEN

YOU REALIZE, NOW I

ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO IT.

Efrem: EVERY GOOD

MOVIE NEEDS A GOOD

SOUNDTRACK, AND "THE

SHACK" IS NO EXCEPTION.

AND THEIR MUSIC IS WHAT IS

PLAYING IN MY EAR.

WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I

NEEDED YOU?

I NEVER LEFT YOU.

* AIN'T IT JUST LIKE A

KID *

WE SAW AN EARLY ROUGH

CUT OF THE FILM.

GOSH, I CAN'T REMEMBER

WHEN IT WAS, BUT IT WAS

EARLY IN THE PROCESS.

AND WE WROTE IT WITH SHANE

MACKENALI AND FAITH AND I.

WE WATCHED THE MOVIE.

AND SIX OR SEVEN TIMES IN

THE FILM, WE'RE JUST

FLOODED WITH TEARS.

WE WENT BACK IN A LITTLE

ROOM AFTERWARDS AND PUT

OUR NOTES TOGETHER.

WE WERE ALL TAKING NOTES

BECAUSE WE WERE TRYING TO

FIGURE OUT IF WE COULD

ACTUALLY SIT DOWN AND

WRITE A SONG FOR IT.

EVERY ONE OF OUR NOTES,

THE BIGGEST NOTE THAT WE

HAD WAS KEEP YOUR EYES ON

ME.

IT CAME BACK TO THE

SIMPLICITY OF FINDING A

MANTRA THAT CAN GET YOU

THROUGH HARD TIMES.

YOU CAN DO THIS.

WHEN MAX STEPPED OUT OF

THE BOAT AND HE SAID, I

CAN'T DO THIS, AND JESUS

SAID, JUST KEEP YOUR EYES

ON ME, IT STRUCK A CHORD

FOR US.

IT MADE US THINK, THAT'S

WHAT WE WANTED TO WRITE

THIS SONG ABOUT.

* KEEP YOUR EYES ON ME

WE WANTED TO WRITE A

SONG THAT EQUALLED THE ARK

OF THE MOVIE.

WE HAD THE PAIN IN THE

BEGINNING OF THE SONG AND

THE REDEMPTION AND THE

LIGHT AND THE BEAUTY AT

THE END.

WITH THE CHOIR AND FAITH

DOING THOSE MAJESTIC

THINGS SHE WAS DOING AT

THE END OF IT.

*

THE THOUGHT PROCESS

THAT EVERYBODY WAS GOING

THROUGH ABOUT WHAT THIS

FILM WAS ABOUT, HOW IT

MADE YOU FEEL, I THINK

EVERYBODY SORT OF FELT

THAT ONSET.

I THINK THAT TRANSFERRED

ITSELF INTO THE MAKING OF

THE MUSIC.

* I TALKED TO GOD ABOUT

YOU *

* AND I AIN'T EVEN MET YOU

YET *

* EVERYBODY IS WAITING ON

YOU HERE *

I THINK THE THING THAT

DRAWS EVERYBODY TO IT IS

THE UNIVERSAL THEME THAT

THIS MOVIE CREATES AND

SPEAKS TO, AND THAT'S THE

SEARCH FOR FORGIVENESS,

THE SEARCH FOR LOVE, AND

THE SEARCH FOR HOPE.

AND FINDING YOUR WAY

AGAIN.

I THINK EVERYBODY IS ON

THAT PATH EVERY DAY.

AND MUSICIANS ARE IN TUNE

TO THAT BECAUSE OUR

EMOTIONS ARE ALWAYS OPEN.

AND THERE IS A LOT OF

FAITH INVOLVED.

Efrem: AND YOU CAN

SAMPLE THAT SOUNDTRACK

EVEN BEFORE YOU SEE THE

FILM.

IT IS AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW.

> STILL AHEAD ON "STUDIO

5"...

WE ALL LIVE WITH TWO

THINGS: LOVE AND LOSS.

Efrem: A FINAL WORD

FROM THE MAN WHO GAVE US

THE BEST-SELLING BOOK THAT

BECAME THIS MAJOR MOTION

PICTURE.

ALL OF OUR DIVISIONS GO

AWAY WHEN WE START GETTING

INSIDE, EYEBALL TO

Efrem: WE ARE JUST

ABOUT OUT OF TIME, SO

LET'S TAKE A LOOK AHEAD TO

NEXT WEEK.

WERE YOU ALWAYS PLAYING ON

GOD'S TEAM?

WELL, I THINK I WAS

ALWAYS ON IT, BUT I WASN'T

PLAYING, DEFINITELY WASN'T

PLAYING THE WAY HE CALLED

ME TO PLAY.

Efrem: WE'RE SITTING

DOWN WITH T.C. STALLINGS.

PLAYING ON GOD'S TEAMS

AND LETTING GOD LEAD YOUR

LIFE, YOUR BUMPS AND

BRUISES MAKE SENSE.

Efrem: HE GIVES

"STUDIO 5" THE INSIDE

SCOOP ON HIS UPCOMING FILM

PROJECT.

THAT IS JUST ONE STORY

FROM NEXT WEEK'S RUNDOWN.

AS FOR THIS WEEK'S FINAL

WORD, I'M GIVING THE FINAL

WORD TO WILLIAM PAUL

YOUNG.

HE HAS A WORD ABOUT

CHALLENGING THE WAY YOU

THINK.

> WE ALL LIVE WITH TWO

THINGS: LOVE AND LOSS.

ALL OF OUR DIVISIONS GO

AWAY WHEN WE START GETTING

INSIDE, EYEBALL TO EYEBALL

AND TALK ABOUT LOVE AND

LOSS.

SO A LOT OF THIS COMES

ROOTED IN LOSS.

I GREW UP IN THE CHURCH.

I GREW UP WITH A BAD

ATTITUDE, AND IT TOOK ME A

LOT OF TIME, 50 YEARS, TO

ACTUALLY BECOME A CHILD.

AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO

TAKE 50 YEARS OF HISTORY

AND GIVE A GIFT OF

CHRISTMAS TO MY KIDS.

HOW MANY TIMES DID WE MAKE

BENEFICIAL CHANGES IN OUR

LIVES WHEN THINGS WERE

GOING GREAT?

WE NEED TO BE CHALLENGED

ABOUT HOW WE THINK.

AND A LOT OF TIMES

PEOPLE'S RESPONSES ARE

BASED BECAUSE THEY'RE

AFRAID.

I KNOW THAT BECAUSE I

LIVED IN THAT WORLD.

AND THAT'S MY PEOPLE.

SO WHEN A PERSON IS UPSET,

THEY'RE NOT COMING TO TELL

ME ABOUT ME.

I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT ME.

THEY'RE COMING TO TELL ME

IN THE ONLY LANGUAGE THEY

KNOW HOW ABOUT WHAT

MATTERS TO THEM.

AND I CAN MAYBE STAY

SILENT, BUT RESPECTFUL,

BECAUSE IT IS ABOUT THE

DIGNITY OF THE OTHER AND

THE JOURNEY THAT THE OTHER

IS IN, AND FINDING A WAY

TO CELEBRATE THAT.

Efrem: SO CONSIDER

THIS THE NEXT TIME SOMEONE

MISINTERPRETS YOUR GOOD

INTENTION: THE PROBLEM MAY

HAVE MORE TO DO WITH THEM

THAN ACTUALLY YOU.

> UNTIL NEXT TIME, REACH

OUT AND TOUCH ME AT

Facebook, TWITTER,

INSTAGRAM, AND SNAPCHAT,

AND COME BACK AND SEE

WHERE "STUDIO 5" TAKES YOU

NEXT WEEK.
