On CBN Newswatch, April 13: 'We're not getting along at all': US-Russian relations go into deep freeze; Driver in fatal Texas church bus crash was DWT and had marijuana, and more. Read Transcript

Efrem: AND THANK YOU

FOR JOINING US FOR CBN

"NEWSWATCH."

I'M EFREM GRAHAM.

TENSIONS BETWEEN THE

UNITED STATES AND RUSSIA

CONTINUE TO ESCALATE, EVEN

AFTER A DAY OF DIPLOMATIC

TALKS IN MOSCOW.

DALE HURD IS ON THE STORY.

President Trump:

RIGHT NOW WE'RE NOT

GETTING ALONG WITH RUSSIA

AT ALL.

Reporter: IT WASN'T

SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS,

U.S.-RUSSIA RELATIONS WERE

SUPPOSED TO IMPROVE UNDER

THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION,

BUT THE SYRIAN NERVE GAS

ATTACK, BLAMED ON BASHAR

al-ASSAD, CAUSED THE

TIES TO HIT BOTTOM.

THE CURRENT STATE OF

THE U.S.-RUSSIAN RELATIONS

IS AT A LOW POINT.

Reporter: AND

VLADIMIR PUTIN SAID ON

RUSSIAN TV THAT THE LEVEL

OF TRUST HAS DETERIORATED.

THIS AFTER REX TILLERSON

FACED AN UNUSUALLY HOSTILE

RECEPTION IN MOSCOW.

THE U.S. MISSILE STRIKE ON

SYRIA THAT TRIGGERED THE

DIPLOMATIC CRISIS, HIT A

SYRIAN AIR BASE, WHERE

THERE WERE RUSSIAN

MILITARY PERSONNEL.

SO DID MOSCOW KNOW ABOUT

THE CHEMICAL WEAPONS.

President Trump: I

WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT

THEY DIDN'T KNOW, BUT

CERTAINLY THEY COULD HAVE.

THEY WERE THERE.

SO WE'LL FIND OUT.

Reporter: AFTER A

TENSE TWO-HOUR CLOSED-DOOR

MEETING, PUTIN CALLED FOR

A REGIME CHANGE IN

DAMASCUS.

OUR VIEW IS THAT THE

REIGN OF THE MINISTRY IS

COMING TO AN END.

Reporter: BUT HE SAID

EXPERIMENTS LIKE THAT,

WHICH IS BUILT ON

OVERTHROWING DICTATORS OR

TOTALATARIAN LEADERS WE'VE

ALREADY SEEN.

WE KNOW THE END OF IT ALL

TOO WELL.

AND THE TWO SIDES AGREED

TO DISAGREE ABOUT UKRAINE.

WITH RELATIONS BETWEEN THE

INTO NUCLEAR POWERS

WORSENING, GOOGLE TRENDS

REPORTS THAT SEARCHES FOR

THE WORDS "WORLD WAR III"

HIT AN ALL-TIME HIGH.

THE WORLD'S TWO MOST

HIGHEST NUCLEAR POWERS

CANNOT HAVE THIS KIND OF

RELATIONSHIP.

Reporter: AND THEY

SAY RUSSIA IS ISOLATING

ITSELF WITH ITS CONTINUED

SUPPORT OF BASHAR

al-ASSAD.

Efrem: MANY WONDER

WHAT OBJECTIVES THE TRUMP

ADMINISTRATION SHOULD HAVE

INSIDE SYRIA.

JOEL C. ROSENBERG SHARED

WITH CBN NEWS SOME OF THE

GOALS HE BELIEVES AMERICA

SHOULD PURSUE.

WE CAN HAVE SOME

OBJECTIVES.

ONE, YOU CAN'T USE WEAPONS

OF MASS DESTRUCTION

WITHOUT PUNISHMENT.

TWO, WE'RE GOING TO TAKE

OUT THE SYRIAN AIR FORCE.

WE'RE GOING TO CREATE SAFE

ZONES FOR SYRIANS TO COME

AND HAVE AIR COVER AND

HUMANITARIAN RELIEF.

THESE WOULD BE SOME

INITIAL OBJECTIVES.

BUT YOU ALSO HAVE TO HAVE

THE OBJECTIVE OF

PROTECTING ISRAEL AND

JORDAN FROM RETALIATION BY

THE ASSAD REGIME.

AND YOU'VE GOT TO HAVE AN

OBJECTIVE THAT IRAN CAN'T

END UP THE OWNER OF SYRIA.

THIS WOULD BE A HORRIBLE

CONCLUSION TO THE CIVIL

WAR.

Efrem: AND YOU CAN

SEE MORE OF ROSENBURG'S

ANALYSIS ON THIS WEEK'S

"JERUSALEM DATELINE."

CHECK OUT "JERUSALEM

DATELINE".COM.

> PAUL MANAFORT STEPPED

DOWN FROM HIS POST EARLY

IN THE ELECTION, BUT HE IS

NOW UNDER INVESTIGATION

FOR FAILING TO DISCLOSE

THE WORK HE DID FOR

FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS.

THE "NEW YORK TIMES"

REPORTS HE RECEIVED

$13 MILLION IN LOANS FROM

TWO BUSINESSES WITH TIES

TO TRUMP, INCLUDING ONE

WITH CONNECTIONS TO

UKRAINE.

THE PURPOSE OF THE LOANS

IS NOT CLEAR IN PUBLIC

RECORDS.

> POLICE HAVE IDENTIFIED

THE MAN DRIVING THE TRUCK

THAT COLLIDED HEAD-ON WITH

A CHURCH BUS.

POLICE SAY THE DRIVER WAS

20-YEAR-OLD JACK DYLAN

YOUNG.

THIS COMES ONE MONTH AFTER

THE DEADLY CRASH IN TEXAS.

13 CHURCH MEMBERS WERE

KILLED.

INVESTIGATORS BE JACK

DYLAN YOUNG WAS TAKING

PRESCRIPTION PILLS, HAD

MARIJUANA IN HIS TRUCK,

AND HAD BEEN TEXTING WHILE

DRIVING.

YOUNG IS EXPECTED TO FACE

MANSLAUGHTER CHARGES.

> PATIENTS AT THE V.A.

FACILITY IN WASHINGTON,

D.C. ARE IN IMMINENT

DANGER.

THAT IS ACCORDING TO THE

OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR

GENERAL.

A NEW REPORT SHOWS

HOSPITAL STAFF MEMBERS

WERE INEFFICIENTLY

EQUIPPED TO PERFORM

OPERATIONS.

AND 18 OF 25 STERILE AREAS

IN THE FACILITY WERE

DIRTY.

IN THE LAST THREE YEARS,

THERE HAVE BEEN 194

REPORTS THAT PATIENTS'

SAFETY HAS BEEN

COMPROMISED.

AS OF NOW, THE V.A. HAS

REASSIGNED THE FACILITIES'

DIRECTOR TO OTHER DUTIES.

> INTERNATIONAL

MINISTRIES ARE GROWING

AROUND THE WORLD, AND ONE

IN EAST ASIA IS USING

MODERN TECHNOLOGIES TO

CHANGE PEOPLE'S LIVES.

MUNG FE LI EXPLAINS.

Reporter: GOOD TV IN

TAIWAN IS ABOUT TO BECOME

GREATER TV.

FOR MANY YEARS THEY PRAYED

FOR MORE EFFECTIVE WAYS TO

SPREAD THE GOSPEL OF JESUS

CHRIST IN TAIWAN.

JUST RECENTLY, ONE MEDIA

COMPANY CALLED "GOOD TV"

DEVELOPED CREATIVE WAYS TO

HIGH-TECH USERS.

C.E.O. AND FOUNDER OF

"GOOD TV" EXPLAINED HOW

GOD BLESSED HIS MINISTRY

BEYOND IMAGINATION.

WHEN WE STARTED THIS

MINISTRY, WE DIDN'T HAVE

ENOUGH EQUIPMENT.

WE WERE LACKING OF PEOPLE

AND RESOURCES.

HOWEVER, WE DIDN'T STOP

SERVING THIS MINISTRY.

EVENTUALLY GOD TOOK US

FURTHER THAN WE'VE EVER

IMAGINED.

Reporter: IN 2016,

THE GOOD TV APP WAS

DOWNLOADED OVER 47,000

TIMES.

66500 PEOPLE REGULARLY

VISITED THEIR YouTube

CHANNELS FOR UPDATES.

AND THE Facebook PAGE

REACHED 17,000 PARTNERS.

DEBBIE PATNER WAS PLEASED

IT WAS BEING USED TO REACH

A YOUNGER GENERATION.

NOW WITH GOOD TV, YOU

CAN WATCH MY PROGRAMS ANY

TIME, ANYWHERE.

AND THIS TECHNOLOGY IS A

SURPRISE TO ME AS WELL, SO

GOOD TV HAS MADE IT

POSSIBLE.

Reporter: AMAZED BY

WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE,

TOM ONLY GIVES THANKS TO

GOD.

FATHER, YOU'RE

POWERFUL.

WE HUMBLE OURSELVES TO

GIVE YOU PRAISE AND

THANKFULNESS.

ONLY YOU COULD HELP GOOD

TV TWO MAK TO MAKE IT THIS FAR.

THROUGH YOU, ALL THINGS

ARE POSSIBLE.

Reporter: GOOD TV HAS

IMPLEMENTED

STATE-OF-THE-ART PLATFORMS

TO CONNECT WITH THEIR

AUDIENCE IN 2017.

BESIDES WATCHING GOOD TV,

VIEWERS CAN FOLLOW THE

CHRISTIAN PROGRAMS

ON iPADS AND

ON iPHONES, AND THE

CONTENT IS ALWAYS FRESH

AND NEW.

LOCAL CHURCH LEADERING

SEND THEIR BLESSINGS AND

SUPPORT FOR THEIR SUCCESS.

WE NEED TO SPREAD THE

WORD OF JESUS.

ALL GLORY BELONGS TO HIM.

Reporter: BESIDES

PRAYING, ALL OF THE

EMPLOYEES IN GOOD TV WILL

CONTINUE TO SERVE THE LORD

BY PROVIDING MORE BIBLICAL

CONTENT.

AS A RESULT, THEY'RE

HOPING MORE TAIWANESE WILL

COME TO KNOW CHRIST.

> MUNG FE LI, CBN NEWS.

Efrem: COMING UP,

WANT TO LEAD A HEALTHIER

LIFE?

TRY BEING MORE THANKFUL.

SEE THE MEDICAL RESEARCH

THAT PROVES GRATITUDE IS

GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH.

Efrem: BEING THANKFUL

ISN'T ALWAYS EASY, BUT

RESEARCH FINDS AN ATTITUDE

OF GRATITUDE BUILDS BETTER

RELATIONSHIPS AND BETTER

HEALTH.

HERE IS LORIE JOHNSON.

Lorie: FOR THOUSANDS

OF YEARS, SCRIPTURE HAS

BEEN VERY CLEAR: GIVE

THANKS.

AND NOW HEALTH EXPERTS ARE

SAYING THE SAME THING.

EVIDENCE HAS SHOWN THAT

PEOPLE WITH A MORE

GRATEFUL DISPOSITION

ENGAGE IN MORE EXERCISE,

THEY EAT HEALTHIER, AND

THEY TAKE BETTER CARE OF

THEMSELVES BY GETTING

REGULAR PHYSICAL

EXAMINATIONS.

AND IT IS HELPFUL WITH

PEOPLE WHO HAVE SOME KIND

OF PHYSICAL AILMENT TO

REDUCE NEGATIVE HEALTH

SYMPTOMS AND TO SLEEP.

Lorie: THE RESEARCH

IS CLEAR: GRATEFUL PEOPLE

HANDLE ADVERSARY BETTER,

AND EXPERIENCE LESS

CLINICAL DEPRESSION AND

ANXIETY.

GRATITUDE HELPS COPE

WITH STRESS AND NEGATIVE

LIFE EVENTS.

AND STRESS CAN BE A MAJOR

CONTRIBUTOR TO PHYSICAL

PROBLEMS.

STRESS TENDS TO DEPRESS

OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM, AND

MAKES US MORE VULNERABLE

TO DISEASE AND SICKNESS.

Reporter: AS A BONUS,

TAKING THIS EXTRA STEP CAN

HELP YOUR FAMILY AND

FRIENDS.

RESEARCH IS SHOWING

MORE AND MORE THAT THE

QUALITY OF OUR

RELATIONSHIPS HAVE THE

TREMENDOUS IMPACT ON THE

QUALITY OF OUR HEALTH.

AND GRATITUDE, ACTUALLY,

HAS BEEN SHOWN TO HELP

IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF

ONE'S RELATIONSHIP.

Lorie: MOST PEOPLE

AREN'T NATURALLY GRATEFUL.

THAT'S WHY HERE AT "REVIVE

OUR HEARTS" MINISTRY, THEY

ACTUALLY TEACH PEOPLE HOW

TO CULTIVATE AN ATTITUDE

OF GRATITUDE.

NANCY LEADS THE MINISTRY,

WHICH INCLUDES A

NATIONALLY BROADCAST RADIO

PROGRAM.

SHE SAYS GRATITUDE STARTS

WITH TELLING GOD YOU DON'T

OWE ME ANYTHING GOOD.

ALL I DESERVED WAS

HELL, AND YOU'VE GIVEN ME

SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT.

YOU'VE GIVEN ME HEAVEN AND

ETERNAL LIFE AND CHRIST

JESUS AND YOUR HOLY

SPIRIT.

OH, LORD, IF YOU NEVER

GAVE ME ANYTHING ELSE GOOD

IN THIS LIFE, THAN HAVING

SAVED ME ETERNALLY FROM

SIN, I'M ONE BLESSED

WOMAN.

AND I WILL SPEND ALL OF

ETERNITY GIVING YOU

THANKS.

Lorie: NANCY SAYS

DEVELOPING THIS SPIRIT IS

LIKE BUILDING MUSCLE.

IT TAKES WORK.

GRATITUDE IS SUPPOSED

TO BE A LIFESTYLE.

IT IS A HABIT.

AND UNFORTUNATELY, IT GETS

ECLIPSED BY BAD HABITS,

THE COMPLAINING AND THE

WHINING AND POINTING OUT

THINGS WE WISH WERE

DIFFERENT.

BUT WE CAN CHANGE THAT AS

WE LIFT OUR EYES UPWARD,

OFF OF OUR CIRCUMSTANCES,

AND LOOK TO THE LORD.

AND SAY, LORD, THANK YOU.

Lorie: IN HER BOOK,

"CHOOSING GRATITUDE," SHE

RECOMMENDS MAKING

THANKSGIVING A PRIORITY

FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH.

AND KEEP A JOURNAL,

WRITING DOWN ALL

BLESSINGS, BIG AND SMALL.

AND I FOUND THAT THAT

DISCIPLINE HELPED ME TO BE

CONSCIENCE OF, MINDFUL OF,

THINGS THAT I OTHERWISE

MIGHT HAVE FORGOTTEN OR I

MIGHT NOT HAVE NOTICED.

PSALM 103 SAYS, "FORGET

NOT ALL HIS BENEFITS."

Lorie: AND WHILE YOU

HAVE YOUR PEN OUT, WRITE

THANK YOU LETTERS TO

PEOPLE WHO HAVE BLESSED

YOU.

IT CAN BE E-MAILS, AND

IT CAN BE TEXTS, AND I DO

IT THAT WAY, TOO.

BUT I TRY TO WRITE SOME

OLD-FASHIONED LONG-HAND

THANK YOU NOTES TO SAY I'M

SO GRATEFUL THAT YOU

THOUGHT OF ME, FOR YOUR

KINDNESS, FOR WHAT YOU

INVESTED IN ME.

AND YOU'LL FIND IF YOU

WRITE THAT KIND OF NOTE,

YOU'LL PROBABLY SHOCK SOME

PEOPLE BECAUSE IT IS SO

RARE TODAY.

Lorie: AND DON'T STOP

THERE.

EXPRESS THANKSGIVING OUT

LOUD SEVERAL TIMES A DAY.

WE'RE MUCH BETTER AT

SAYING WHAT WE WISH WE

HAD, RATHER THAN SAYING

THANK YOU TO GOD AND TO

OTHERS FOR WHAT WE DO

HAVE.

Lorie: SO FOR BETTER

HEALTH, MAKE A CONSCIENCE

EFFORT TO GIVE THANKS, A

LOT OF IT, EVERY DAY.

IT IS NOT EASY, BUT

WELL-WORTH THE EFFORT.

LORIE JOHNSON, CBN NEWS.

Efrem: AND STILL

AHEAD, WE ARE TALKING

ABOUT A CAMP FOR TEENS,

WHERE THE DRILL

INSTRUCTORS AREN'T

TRAINING CADETS FOR THE

MILITARY.

UP NEXT, SEE HOW THIS

GROUP IS MOLDING THE LIVES

OF THESE YOUNG MEN.

Efrem: MA MASCULINITY IS

CONSIDERED SHAMEFUL ON

SOME COLLEGE CAMPUSES.

BUT AN ORGANIZATION CALLED

"THE TIMOTHY GROUP" IS

WORKING TO CHANGE THAT

NEGATIVE PERCEPTION OF

MANHOOD AND TEACHING BOYS

HOW TO BE GODLY MEN.

CHUCK HOLTON HAS THE

STORY.

Reporter: IT IS

5 A.M., DEEP IN THE

ALABAMA DARK WOODS.

20 YOUNG MEN ROLL OUT OF

THEIR SLEEPING BAGS AND

BEGIN A WEEK-LONG

ADVENTURE THAT WILL PUSH

THEM TO THE VERY LIMITS OF

THEIR ENDURANCE.

IT IS CALLED "THE

CHALLENGE."

AND IT'S A TRAINING CAMP

AIMED AT GIVING BOYS A

GOOD LOOK INSIDE

THEMSELVES AND A GOOD IDEA

OF WHAT IT WILL TAKE TO

BECOME A MAN.

THE BOYS COME AS FAR AWAY

AS WYOMING FOR THIS

TEAM-BUILDING TRAINING.

[YELLING]

IT HAS BEEN AROUND

SINCE THE YEAR 2000, AND

THE TRAINING THEY DO OUT

HERE IN THE ALABAMA WOODS

REALLY HAS NOT CHANGED

SINCE THEN.

MY NAME IS TIMOTHY, AND

I LIVE IN GEORGIA, AND I'M

18.

I WANTED TO BE MOLDED MORE

AS A MAN AND I WANTED TO

BE CHALLENGED.

Reporter: AND HE IS

ONE OF THE OLDEST IN THE

CURRENT CLASS.

MOST ARE BETWEEN 14 AND

17.

I THINK IT HELPED ME

FACE A LOT OF DIFFERENT

CHALLENGES, MAYBE AT MY

JOB OR WITH MY FAMILY.

THEY'RE LOOKING AT THE

DETAILS, AND THIS REALLY

BUILDING ME TO LOOK AT MY

EVERY MOVE, WHAT AM I

DOING AND WHY AM I DOING

IT, LOOKING FOR MY

PURPOSE?

IF YOU CAN DO IT

OUTDOORS, THE TIMOTHY

GROUP WANTS TO DO THAT.

BY THE AGE NINE, A YOUNG

MAN IS TRYING TO FIT OR

ASSESS HOW LIFE IS

SUPPOSED TO WORK.

AND SO WE WANT TO GET THE

WORD OF GOD INTO THAT

YOUNG MAN'S HEART RIGHT

AWAY.

SO OUR GOAL IS TO BUILD A

LEGION OF YOUNG MEN IN

AMERICA THAT WHEN THEY GO

OFF TO COLLEGE, WHEN THEY

GO TO THE WORKPLACE OR TO

SCHOOL, THEY CAN IMPACT

THEIR ENVIRONMENT.

Reporter: SINCE THE

YEAR 2000, MORE THAN 3,000

YOUNG MEN HAVE ATTENDED

THE TRAINING.

A LOT OF FOLKS ASK US,

BECAUSE WE DO

MILITARY-TYPE TRAINING,

ARE YOU A MILITARY

INDOCTRINATION PROGRAM,

AND WE'RE NOT.

WE JUST USE THAT TO CATCH

THE ATTENTION OF THE YOUNG

MEN.

THEY'VE GOT BIBLE STUDY

AND FIREARMS TRAINING,

MEDICAL, AND HAND TO HAND

COMBAT.

SO WE DO WEAPONS TRAINING,

NOT TO MAKE THEM A

MARKSMAN.

I COULD CARE LESS IF THEY

EVER PICK UP A WEAPON

AGAIN OR JOIN THE ARMY OR

THE AIR FORCE, BUT THE

SPIRITUAL LESSON WE WANT

THEM TO LEARN IS THE

IMPORTANCE OF LISTENING

AND OBEDIENCE.

Reporter: JOSEPH

MCGOWAN CAME THROUGH THE

COURSE AS A STUDENT AND

THEN WENT ON TO THE

MILITARY, AND NOW SERVES

AS A POLICEMAN IN GARLAND,

TEXAS.

HE IS BACK IN THIS CLASS

AS AN INSTRUCTOR.

THE YOUNG MEN, WE THINK

WE'RE INVINCIBLE, AND WE

THINK A LOT HIGHER OF

OURSELVES THAN WE REALLY

ARE.

AND WHEN YOU FACE

CHALLENGES AND YOU REALIZE

YOU CAN'T DO IT AND YOU

REALIZE YOU NEED OTHERS,

AND YOU REALIZE YOUR A

FINITE PERSON, YOU CAN BE

SO MUCH MORE AS LONG AS

YOU PARTNER WITH GOD AND

OTHER MEN.

THE ISSUE WITH OUR

SOCIETY RIGHT NOW IS WE

ARE BECOMING SOFTER AND

SOFTER.

WE'RE TOLD THAT

MASCULINITY IN GENERAL IS

SOMETHING WE SHOULD PUT

AWAY.

AND BRINGING OUT HERE

GIVES US AN OPPORTUNITY TO

PULL THEM AWAY FROM THAT

COMFORT ZONE AND PUSH THEM

HARD, HELPING THEY'LL

REALIZE THEY'RE CAPABLE OF

A LOT MORE AND THAT THEY

NEED OTHERS.

AND HOPEFULLY MOTIVATE THE

STUDENTS TO SAY, I CAN BE

THAT NOW.

IT IS PUSHING YOURSELF AND

ALLOWING GOD TO TAKE OVER

AND MOVE YOU PLACES.

Reporter: SOME OF

THOSE WHO HAVE GRADUATED

FROM THIS COURSE HAVE GONE

ON TO THE MILITARY, AND

OTHERS TO SERVICE

PROFESSIONS.

AND RECENTLY A GROUP OF

GRADUATES HEADED TO IRAQ

TO PROVIDE MEDICAL CARE

AND SUPPORT FOR THOSE

ENGAGED IN THE FIGHT

AGAINST ISIS.

THE TIMOTHY GROUP IS

HOPING MANY LIKE-MINDED

YOUNG MEN WILL STEP UP AND

MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR

AMERICA AND AROUND THE

WORLD.

GETTING THE WORD OF GOD

INTO A YOUNG MAN THROUGH

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE, THAT IS

THE BEST OF ALL FREE

WORLDS.

Reporter: I'M CHUCK

HOLTON FOR CBN NEWS.

Efrem: TRAINING BOYS

TO BECOME GODLY MEN.

WHAT A WORTHWHILE

ENDEAVOR.

> STAY WITH US, THERE IS

MORE OF CBN "NEWSWATCH"

COMING UP RIGHT AFTER

THIS.

Efrem: AS WE REMEMBER

THE DEATH, BURIAL, AND

RESURRECTION THIS WEEK, IT

IS THE PERFECT TIME TO

TURN OUR ATTENTION TO THE

LOCAL CHURCH.

THAT IS THE FOCUS OF A

CONCERT TOUR CALLED

"OUTCRY."

I SAT DOWN FOR THIS WEEK'S

BRIGHT SPOT.

LAUREN DAGEL, PASTOR

STEVEN VERDIN.

DEATH DIDN'T TRAP

JESUS.

JESUS TRAPPED DEATH.

Efrem: AND "JESUS

CULTURE."

* I LOVE YOUR PRESENCE

Efrem: ARE AMONG

THOSE HEADLINING THE

LATEST "OUTCRY" TOUR.

THIS IS A MOVEMENT AIMED

AT REMINDING THE WORLD

ABOUT THE POWER OF THE

LOCAL CHURCH.

> THE CHURCH GETS A

PRETTY BAD RAP OF LATE, OF

BEING MISSING, NOT

RELEVANT, AND NOT DOING

THE THINGS THAT NEED TO BE

DONE IN OUR WORLD.

WHAT DO YOU SAY ABOUT

THAT?

WHEN YOU LOOK AT

REVELATION 19, YOU SEE THE

BRIDE.

FOR US, THAT WAS A BIG

DEAL.

WE SAW THE CHURCH IS THERE

AT THE VERY END.

SO WE KNOW THE END OF THE

STORY.

WE'RE ON THE WINNING TEAM.

I THINK WE'VE BEEN

OPERATING IN SUCH A KIND

OF DEFENSIVE POSTURE

LATELY.

WE WANTED TO COMMUNICATE

ON THESE TOURS THAT THE

CHURCH IS NOT DYING.

IT CAN'T DIE.

IT IS GOING TO BE AROUND

FOREVER.

AND WE ARE PART OF THE

GREATEST MOVEMENT THAT THE

WORLD HAS EVER SEEN.

AND A LOT OF TIMES WE LOOK

BACK OVER CHURCH HISTORY,

AND WE CAN ALL POINT AT

THE AREAS WHERE WE'RE

EMBARRASSED OR WE DON'T

LIKE IT, BUT WE TOOK SOME

TIME TO LOOK BACK OVER

CHURCH HISTORY AND SAY,

WHAT ARE SOME HIGH POINTS?

WHAT ARE SOME THINGS WE

CAN REALLY BE PROUD OF?

AND ULTIMATELY THE WORLD

WOULD NOT LOOK LIKE IT

LOOKS IF NOT FOR THE

CHURCH.

Efrem: WOULD YOU SAY

THAT THE CHURCH IS AS

POWERFUL TODAY AS IN

HISTORY?

OH, YEAH.

MORE SO, EVEN.

IN TERMS OF COMMUNICATION

AND VIDEO AND ONLINE

THINGS, THE CHURCH IS SO

CREATIVE THESE DAYS.

AND WE TAKE IT FOR

GRANTED.

AND FOR ME BEING A

MILLENNIAL, I SHOULD SAY

THE CHURCH IS "X," "Y," OR

"Z," OR FALLING SHORT, BUT

I LOOK AROUND AND I'M

AMAZED.

FOR US, EVERY NIGHT WE SEE

10,000 PEOPLE COME

TOGETHER TO WORSHIP JESUS.

AND YOU LOOK AT THAT CROWD

AND YOU GO, HOW CAN YOU

SAY THE CHURCH ISN'T

POWERFUL?

YOU KNOW?

AND THERE IS SO MUCH POWER

IN THE CHURCH, AND I THINK

WE'RE GOING TO SEE A WHOLE

LOT MORE TO COME.

Efrem: WAS THERE

ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED TO

YOU OR IN YOUR LIFE THAT

MADE YOU SO PASSIONATE

ABOUT THE LOCAL CHURCH?

I GOT SAVED BECAUSE A

YOUTH PASTOR TOOK TIME OUT

OF HIS DAY TO BRING ME

INTO HIS SMALL GROUP AND

TELL ME ABOUT JESUS.

AND GOT SAVED AT THE END

OF HIGH SCHOOL, AND MY

LIFE WAS FOREVER CHANGED.

ANDEAND GOD FORGED THINGS IN

ME THAT I WOULD NEVER HAVE

FORGED OTHERWISE.

WHEN I WOULD GET ON

Facebook AND SEE A BLOG

POST ABOUT 10 REASONS

MILLENNIALS ARE LEAVING

THE CHURCH, SOMETHING IN

ME KIND OF AWAKENED, AND I

FELT -- MAYBE OFFENSE IS A

LITTLE STRONG, BUT I

STARTED THINKING, BE

CAREFUL.

DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU'RE

TALKING ABOUT?

AND I STARTED TO REALLY

DEVELOP -- AND I THINK THE

LORD WAS REALLY PUTTING IN

ME -- THIS LOVE FOR THE

CHURCH I DIDN'T HAVE

BEFORE THAT.

AND NOW I LOOK BACK OVER

MY LIFE, AND I SAY THAT

LOCAL CHURCH CHANGED ME.

IT BROUGHT ME TO JESUS.

AND IF IT WEREN'T THERE,

AND IF IT WERE JUST PEOPLE

LISTENING TO PODCASTS, I

DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD HAVE

MET THE LORD THE WAY I

DID.
