IS BAD-MOUTHING MY SIBLINGS A SIN EVEN IF IT'S THE TRUTH? IF A BELIEVER DIES WITH AN UNFORGIVING SPIRIT TOWARDS OTHERS, GOD WILL NOT FORGIVE HIS SINS; THUS THAT PERSON CAN'T ENTER INTO HEAVEN? Read Transcript

Well, we're going to start Bring

It On with this email from Lisa, who he says, Pat,

"I know I'm not supposed to talk badly of family members,

but I am a caregiver for my mother.

I have a big family, and I'm the only one

that takes care of my mom.

Nobody even calls to check up on her.

I feel guilty for bad mouthing my siblings,

but sometimes I just need to vent.

Is bad mouthing my siblings a sin even if it's the truth?"

Well, you "speak the truth in love," is what the Bible says.

And I'm sure you get bitter, the fact that they

have abandoned your mother and don't

have the care you do for her.

Frankly, from a legal standpoint, as a child,

you really aren't responsible for looking after your mother

unless you want to do so in the Lord.

And I think there's probably a provision that

would get those other brothers and sisters--

siblings, they're called-- to help.

But, you know, what you need to do is give this thing to God.

When you've got something that's so egregious--

and that's what it is, and it's dirty the way they're playing

it--

you really need to turn it over to the Lord.

Otherwise, you get bitter and it'll destroy you.

So you keep love in your heart.

Turn them over to God, and God is

going to bring some pretty serious judgment

against those irresponsible children.

They owe it to their mothers and fathers.

Honor your mothers and fathers, and you

can't abandon them just because they're

old and infirm, all right?

OK.

This is Dawn, who says, "I was recently told

by a well-meaning person that, because the Bible I study

is not the Jerusalem Bible, that I do not know God

and I should get the Jerusalem Bible to find out

who God really is.

I'm confused.

I've always believed the Holy Bible is God breathed

and written by the scribes.

Please clarify."

PAT ROBERTSON: All right, look.

Whoever's giving you this stuff, there

are more people giving a lot of baloney.

And they're lying, and they don't know

what they're talking about.

Look, we believe the Bible says in Timothy,

all scripture [GREEK] is [GREEK]--

is God breathed-- and is useful for instruction

and righteousness, correction and discipline, and so forth.

All right, where do we get the Bible?

Well, we have manuscripts.

And we try to get the best manuscripts we can.

They're written in Greek, and they're written in Hebrew.

And what we try to do is to take an English version of them.

And then, out of that, comes an English-language Bible.

And there are many of them.

And depending on what they translate

will depend on some of these variations.

So to tell someone they're going to hell because they

don't read the version that somebody

agrees with is just nonsense.

I mean, the thing is, let's say it's God.

And the truth of the Lord speaks through all of them, all right?

OK.

Quickly, this is Jennifer, who says,

"Matthew 6:15 states, if you don't forgive others,

your Father will not forgive you.

So does that mean, if a believer dies with an unforgiving spirit

toward others, God won't forgive their sins

and they can't enter heaven?"

PAT ROBERTSON: I don't think that's what it's saying.

But if you want access to the power of God,

if you want access into the anointing of the Holy Spirit

of God, you have to be in a state of being born again.

And in order to be born again, you

have to have your sins forgiven.

And Jesus has said, look, if you're asking your Father

to forgive you, then you need to have the same attitude

in your heart toward others.

And it's an important thing.

Otherwise, you will cut off the flow of God in your life.

And I really am not prepared to speak on eternal judgment,

whether you'll go to hell if you don't.

But I do say, if you want to enjoy

the privileges of the anointed children of God, by all means,

forgive those who've wronged you.

It's key.
