University of Kentucky football quarterback Stephen Johnson miraculously overcomes childhood Tourette’s Syndrome with a simple prayer. Read Transcript

Terry: THE CORNERBACK

LEADING THE KENTUCKY

WILDCATS TO NEW HEIGHT.

HE'S GOT A MAN OPEN.

TOUCHDOWN!

Terry: HEAR ABOUT

THIS CHILDHOOD BATTLE WITH

TOURETTE'S SYNDROME.

PEOPLE LOOKED AT ME

DIFFERENT, SAW THE WAY I

ACTED, EVEN THOUGH I

COULDN'T HELP IT.

IT WAS REALLY KIND OF

HARD.

Terry: AND HIS

MIRACULOUS HEALING.

THE LORD HEALED ME JUST

RIGHT THEN AND THERE.

Andrew: HI, AND

WELCOME TO THIS SHOW.

THE HOLIDAY SEASON IS UPON

US, AND TRADITIONALLY IT

IS TIME A FRIENDS, FAMILY

AND JOY.

FOR 9-YEAR-OLD JACOB

JOHNSON AND HIS PARENTS,

THE HOLIDAYS WILL HAVE TO

COME EARLY THIS YEAR.

BECAUSE THIS LAST OCTOBER,

JACOB AND HIS FAMILY FOUND

OUT HE ONLY HAS ONE MONTH

TO LIVE.

HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH

STAGE FOUR NEUROBLASTOMA.

Terry: AFTER HIS

STORY WENT VIRAL ON SOCIAL

MEDIA, HOLIDAY CARDS BEGAN

POURING IN FROM ALL OVER

THE COUNTRY AND THE WORLD.

HE RECEIVED 40,000

CHRISTMAS CARDS.

JUST LAST WEEK, THE POLICE

OFFERED THEIR SUPPORT BY

LEADING A CARAVAN OUTSIDE

HIS HOSPITAL ROOM.

HIS MOTHER TOLD GOOD

HOUSEKEEPING THAT HIS

MOTTO IS, LIVE LIKE A

PENGUIN, WHICH MEANS BE

FRIENDLY, STAND BY EACH

OTHER, GO THE EXTRA MILE,

AND JUMP INTO LIFE, AND BE

COOL.

HIS MOTHER SAYS JACOB

LOVES THE HOLIDAY SEASON,

AND WE WANT HIM TO KNOW

THAT CHRISTMAS WISHES COME

TRUE AND THERE ARE GOOD

PEOPLE WHO CARE ALL AROUND

THE WORLD.

Andrew: 40,000

CHRISTMAS CARDS.

I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW PEOPLE

STILL SENT CHRISTMAS CARDS

ANYMORE.

SO THIS LITTLE BOY IS

TOUCHING THE HEARTS OF

PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD.

TO SEE THE POLICE PUT THAT

SHOW ON FOR HIM IS

TOUCHING.

Terry: I LOVE WHEN

FAMILIES ARE GOING THROUGH

STRUGGLES AND YOU SEE THE

COMMUNITY AROUND THEM JUST

RISE TO THE OCCASION.

KUDOS TO ALL OF YOU WHO

ARE STANDING NEXT TO THEM.

THE BATTLE AGAINST

CHILDHOOD CANCER WILL

CONTINUE, AND THANKFUL

CELEBRITIES, LIKE CHIP AND

JOANNA GAINES HAS ENTERED

THE FRAY.

CHIP ANNOUNCED THAT HE

WOULD CUT OFF HIS

SIGNATURE LONG LOCKS IF

FANS DONATED TO ST. JUDE'S

CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL.

Andrew: APPARENTLY

THE FANS ANSWERED CHIP'S

CALL.

HERE IS A NEW LOOK.

JOANNA SAID, WE ARE

LEAVING MEMPHIS CHANGED.

WE HAVE YOUR FACES ON OUR

MINDS AND YOUR STORIES IN

OUR HEARTS.

THANK YOU FOR LETTING US

BE PART OF YOUR HOME AT

THE TARGET HOUSE.

WE'RE CHEERING YOU ON

EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.

THANKS A PHENOMENAL

HOSPITAL.

Terry: THEIR

COMMERCIALS ARE

PHENOMENAL.

THE PLACE IS PHENOMENAL.

I DON'T THINK YOU COULD

VISIT AND MEET THE

CHILDREN THAT WE JUST SAW

AND THEIR SPOTS ON TV,

WITHOUT BEING FOREVER

CHANGED.

Andrew: YOU'RE A BIG

FAN OF THE GAINES FAMILY,

AREN'T YOU?

Terry: I AM.

I'M NOT SHAVING MY HEAD,

BUT, CHIP, KUDOS TO YOU.

Andrew: AND ANOTHER

CELEBRITY USING HIS

PLATFORM FOR GOOD IS HARRY

CONNICK, JR.

HE TOLD A TALK SHOW HOST

WHAT HE WOULD DO IF HE HAD

THREE WISHES.

SOMEBODY SAID, IF YOU HAD

THREE WISHES, WHAT WOULD

YOU WANT?

I SAID, I WOULD WANT TO

DO GOD'S WILL, I WANT TO

DO GOD'S WILL, AND I WANT

TO DO GOD'S WILL.

THAT'S ALL I WANT TO DO.

THAT IS THE PREMISE UPON

WHICH EVERYTHING ELSE IS

BUILT, IT ALLOWS ME TO BE

CHILD-LIKE.

IT ALLOWS ME TO BE

SPONTANEOUS.

WE'RE SO DIVIDED.

HOW DO YOU SEE US BEING

ABLE TO DO A BETTER JOB AS

PEOPLE OF FAITH, BEING A

UNIFYING FORCE?

I BELIEVE GOD SORT OF

HAS A PLAN.

WE JUST HAPPEN TO BE PART

OF THAT PLAN.

YEAH.

AND TOO MANY THINGS

HAVE HAPPENED FOR ME NOT

TO REALIZE THAT I AM PART

OF SOMETHING WAY BIGGER

THAN THIS SHOW.

SO I DO FEEL LIKE THIS IS

WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO BE

DOING.

YES.

YES.

Andrew: THREE WISHES:

DO GOD'S WILL, DO GOD'S

WILL, DO GOD'S WILL.

HOW MANY OF US WOULD SAY

THAT?

Terry: I DON'T KNOW,

BUT I THINK I MIGHT SAY

THAT FROM HERE ON OUT.

Andrew: HE IS A GREAT

GUY, AND WE REALLY ENJOY

HIM.

Terry: AND A GREAT

TALENT.

> ON THE HEELS OF

VETERANS' DAY, WE HAVE A

COUPLE ABOUT STORY ABOUT A COUPLE WHO

SERVED IN WORLD WAR II.

Andrew: SADLY ISSABEL

PASSED AWAY JUST BEFORE

VETERANS' DAY, AND HOURS

LATER, PREBEL FOLLOWED HER

TO THE PRESENCE OF THE

LORD.

THE COUPLE WAS MARRIED FOR

71 YEARS.

TERRY, I NOTICEDED THIS

STORY ABOUT THEIR DEATH.

AND 14 HOURS APART.

AND IT TRIGGERED SOMETHING

IN ME BECAUSE WE HAVE SOME

LADIES UPSTAIRS, TERRY AND

JULIE, WHO HAVE BEEN DEAR

FRIENDS OF THIS COUPLE.

IT IS NOT THAT UNUSUAL FOR

SOME OF THESE COUPLES

MARRIED SIX, SEVEN

DECADES, TO DIE WITHIN

HOURS OF EACH OTHER.

IN THIS CASE, IT WAS 14

HOURS.

FOR HIS 96th BIRTHDAY,

THEY WERE AT A CARE

FACILITY, AND THEY HAD TO

STAY IN SEPARATE ROOMS,

BUT HIS BIRTHDAY WISH FOR

HIS 96th WAS THEY COULD

SLEEP NEXT TO EACH OTHER.

AND THEY MADE SOME

ARRANGEMENTS, AND FOR HIS

96th BIRTHDAY THEY GOT

TO NAP TOGETHER.

HOW SWEET.

Terry: IT IS QUITE AN

AMAZING STORY.

YOU'RE RIGHT, I THINK,

THAT THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN

RARELY.

I THINK THERE ARE MORE

CASES OF THAT THAN YOU

MIGHT REALIZE.

A VERY TENDER STORY.

> WELL, THE THREAT OF

TERRORISM IS A KEY REASON

IMMIGRATION HAS BEEN A

MAJOR POLITICAL ISSUE IN

RECENT YEARS.

BUT THERE IS ANOTHER SIDE

TO THIS STORY OF

IMMIGRANTS IN AMERICA, HOW

THEY'VE HELPED THEIR LOCAL

ECONOMIES.

CAITLIN BURKE BRINGS US

THAT STORY FROM THE RUST

BELT OF NEW YORK.

Reporter: YOU' UDICA, NEW

YORK, CALLS ITSELF A PLACE

THAT LOVES REFUGEES.

UP STATE '50s IN NEW

YORK, IIN THE '50s,THERE WAS A LOT OF THIN
GS

GOING ON.

WHETHER IT WAS THE KI

KNITTING MILLS OR THE

FACTORIES -- THOSE JOBS

LEFT AND SO DID SOME OF

OUR POPULATION.

Reporter: AFTER

DECADES OF DECLINE, THIS

RUST BELT TOWN IS GROWING,

FUELED BY AN INFLUX OF

HIGHLY MOT MOTIVATED LABOR.

IT WAS AN INCREASE IN

POPULATION, THERE IS NO

RECOVERY.

Reporter: SHELLEY

CALLAHAN IS THE EXECUTIVE

DIRECTOR OF THE MOHAWK

VALLEY RESOURCE CENTE CENTER FOR

REFUGEES IN UDICA.

IT IS A FULL YOURSELF

UP BY YOUR BOOT STRAPS.

GET A JOB, HIT THE GROUND

RUNNING.

EVEN IF YOU DON'T KNOW ANY

ENGLISH, WE HAVE FOUND

WORK-AROUND WITH THAT WITH

THEIR EMPLOYEES.

REFUGEES COME HERE OWING

THEIR AIRFARE BACK TO THE

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

Reporter: ALI KASHIMI

CAME AS A REFUGEE AND

EVENTUALLY SETTLED IN

UDICA.

IN MY COUNTRY, BECAUSE

OF THE WAR, THE BUSINESS

IS CLOSED.

AND IT'S LIKE THE DUST IS

IN IT AND IT IS NOT

OPENED.

Reporter: HE TOOK

SOME CLASSES AND GOT A JOB

QUICKLY.

BUT AFTER ONLY A FEW

WEEKS, HE REALIZED HE

WOULD RATHER USE HIS

SKILLS AS AN ENTREPRENEUR

TO OPEN A RESTAURANT.

I TRIED TO FIND A

CATCHY NAME.

TATABTABOULI MIDDLE EASTED

FOOD.

Reporter: THIS SCHOOL

TEACHES THE IMMIGRANTS THE

SKILLS NEEDED TO MANAGE

THEIR OWN FOOD BUSINESS.

ADAM CAME UP WITH THE

CONCEPT.

WE'RE A RESTAURANT, BUT

WE'RE ALSO A SCHOOL.

Reporter: TODAY THE

CUISINE IS PAKISTANI FARE.

IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS,

WHO KNOWS.

FOLKS ARE COMING FROM

DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE

WORLD AND THEY COOK

BEAUTIFUL THINGS.

AND THEY CONNECT WHAT YOU

LOVE ABOUT THEIR CULTURE,

ALL OF THOSE LOVELY THINGS

ABOUT CULTURE AND FAMILY

AND HO HOSPITALITY.

Reporter: ON THE

FRONT END, "WITH LOVE"

EMPLOYEES AN ENTREPRENEUR

AND RESIDENT.

THAT STUDENT IS THE ONE

WHO COMES UP WITH THE MENU

AND REALLY RUNS THE

BUSINESS SIDE OF THINGS,

EVERYTHING FROM WORKING

THE LINE IN THE KITCHEN TO

NEGOTIATING RENT.

SARAH ROBIN IS THE CURRENT

ENTREPRENEUR AND RESIDENT.

SHE FLED LAHORE, PAKISTAN,

AFTER BEING PERSECUTED FOR

BECOMING A CHRISTIAN.

MY FAMILY AND THE

CULTURE -- EVERYBODY

WANTED TO KILL ME.

I HAVE BEEN POISONED ONCE.

I HAVE BEEN HIT MANY TIMES

FROM THE FAMILY MEMBERS.

NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS,

GOD WAS ALWAYS WITH ME.

HE SAVED MY LIFE.

Reporter: ROBIN SAYS

GOD OPENED DOORS FOR HER

TO COME TO THE U.S., AND

IS STILL OPENING DOORS

SAYS HE WORKS TO BE

SUCCESSFUL HERE.

I NEVER THOUGHT THAT

ONE DAY I WOULD OPEN UP MY

OWN RESTAURANT AND I WOULD

WORK HERE.

BUT AS I CAME HERE AS A

REFUGEE, I WAS TAUGHT THAT

I NEEDED TO LEARN A SKILL

FOR MY LIFE.

AND I'M SO BLESSED THAT

I'M IN THIS PROGRAM.

Reporter: ROBIN HAS

ALREADY STARTED THE

PROCESS OF OPENING HER OWN

RESTAURANT, WORKING TO

FIND A LOCATION AND

TALKING WITH INVESTORS

ABOUT HER VISION.

I WANT TO BRING A

PAKISTANI VIBE TO THIS

COUNTRY, AND THE CONCEPT

OF THE FOOD WOULD BE A

STREET FOOD.

Reporter: AS MORE

REFUGEES, LIKE ROBIN, ARE

TRAINED AND GIVEN TOOLS TO

START THEIR OWN BUSINESS,

ADAM HOPES THEY'LL INVEST

THEIR TIME AND MONEY IN

THE URBAN CORE OF

SYRACUSE.

THEY START TO BRING

SOME OF THE FUN AND LIFE

INTO THE CITY.

Reporter: TWO RUST

BELT CITIES AND THOUSANDS

OF REFUGEES WHO ARE EAGER

TO BECOME CONTRIBUTING

MEMBERS OF THEIR

COMMUNITY.

CAITLIN BURKE, CBN NEWS,

UDICA, NEW YORK.

Terry: WE HEAR SO

MUCH THAT IS NEGATIVE

ABOUT IMMIGRANTS, AND WHAT

A WONDERFUL STORY.

HERE ARE PEOPLE WHO LOVE

THEIR COUNTRIES, FOR THE

MOST PART, BUT HAVE TO

LEAVE BECAUSE OF

CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND THEIR

CONTROL.

AND HOW GREAT TO BE ABLE

TO UTILIZE WHAT YOU

ALREADY HAVE IN YOUR HAND,

TO BE ABLE TO SETTLE

YOURSELF AND BLESS OTHERS

WITH IT.

WONDERFUL PROGRAM.

> UP NEXT, WE'LL

CONTINUE TO LOOK AT OUR

PLIGHT OF REFUGEES AROUND

THE WORLD AS A FAMILY

ESCAPES WAR-TORN SYRIA.

SEE HOW THEY FOUND HOPE IN

AN UNLIKELY PLACE.

STAY WITH US.

Terry: LAURA, HER

BROTHER, AND HER MOTHER

LEFT BEHIND THE ONLY HOME

THEY'D EVER KNOWN WHEN

THEY FLED THE WAR IN

SYRIA.

HER DAD DIED IN THE

BOMBING.

LAURA'S NEW LIFE IN THE

REFUGEE CAMP LOOKED BLEAK,

UNTIL HER FAMILY RECEIVED

PRACTICE HELP AND HOPE FOR

A BETTER FUTURE.

Reporter: LAURA, AND

HER BROTHER, BALAL, WALK

THROUGH THE TENTS OF THIS

REFUGEE CAMP IN LEBANON

EVERY DAY.

THEY AND THEIR MOTHER

STRUGGLED TO GET BY ON

THEIR OWN EVER SINCE THE

SYRIAN WAR EN GOLFE ENGULFED THE

CITY OF HOMS, AND THEIR

FATHER WAS KILLED.

MY DAD AND SOME OF HIGH

RELATIVES DIED.

I GET REALLY SAD WHEN I

HEAR OTHER GIRLS SAYING,

DADDY, DADDY, BECAUSE I

CAN'T SAY THAT ANYMORE.

WE BARELY MADE IT OUT

OF SYRIA, BUT LIFE HERE

HAS BEEN VERY HARD.

WE CAME WITH NOTHING, AND

WE RELIED ON THE CHARITY

OF OUR NEIGHBORS TO

SURVIVE.

Reporter: LAURA'S

MOTHER TOLD ME ONE OF HER

BIGGEST WORRIES NOW IS HER

CHILDREN'S FUTURE.

IT HURTS LAURA NOT

BEING ABLE TO GO TO

SCHOOL.

SHE IS SUCH A SMART CHILD,

AND I WANTED HER AND BALAL

TO HAVE A CHANCE TO DO ALL

OF THE THINGS I COULD NOT.

Reporter: SO "HEART

FOR LEBANON" INVITED LAURA

AND BALAL TO OUR REFUGEE

CENTER, AND THEY'RE

LEARNING ARABIC, MATH, AND

ABOUT JESUS.

IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY TO

KNOW JESUS LOVES US.

JESUS IS MY GOD, AND HE

NEVER LEAVES.

SO I TRY TO BE LIKE HIM.

I LIKE TO WRITE AND

COLOR AND PLAY WITH MEYER

FRIENDS.

AND I REALLY LIKE TO SING

SONGS ABOUT JESUS.

Reporter: AT THE

CENTER, WE ALSO SHOW

"SUPERBOOK" IN ARABIC.

THE SHOW IS AMAZING

BECAUSE WE LEARN STORIES

FROM THE BIBLE, AND I GET

EXCITED LEARNING ABOUT

GOD.

I GO HOME EACH DAY AND

TELL MY MOM EVERYTHING I

HAVE LEARNED ABOUT GOD.

MY KIDS TELL ME ABOUT

JESUS CHRIST ALL OF THE

TIME.

AND WHEN I'M FEELING

DEPRESSED, THEY SAY I

SHOULD PRAY, AND SO I DO.

IT FEELS GREAT.

AND EVERY MONTH, "HEART

FOR LEBANON" AND "ORPHANS'

PROMISE" GIVE FOOD TO

THEIR FAMILY AND MANY

OTHER FAMILIES.

I CAN'T THANK "HEART

FOR LEBANON" AND "ORPHANS'

PROMISE" ENOUGH.

THE CHRISTIANS ARE THE

ONLY ONES WHO ARE HELPING

US.

DEAR GOD, PLEASE TAKE

CARE OF THE ORPHANS OF

SYRIA, AND PLEASE BLESS

THE CHRISTIANS THAT HAVE

OPENED THE SCHOOL.

PLEASE BLESS THEM AND KEEP

THEM SAFE.

AMEN.

Terry: BOY, WHAT AN

OPPORTUNITY.

HERE IS A LITTLE FAMILY,

AND THEY'VE LOST THE HEAD

OF THE FAMILY, AND THEY'VE

COME IN WITH NOTHING,

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, TO

THIS PLACE THAT GOD HAS

OPENED A DOOR TO.

JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE A

PLACE TO LIVE DOESN'T MEAN

THAT THEY'RE ACCEPTED.

IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT

OPPORTUNITIES OPEN UP FOR

THEM.

IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT

THEY'RE PROVIDED FOR ON A

REGULAR BASIS.

IT JUST MEANS THEY'RE

ALIVE IN A FOREIGN PLACE.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR

GENEROSITY.

WHEN YOU JOIN "THE 700

CLUB," WHEN YOU GIVE TO

"SUPERBOOK," WHEN YOU GIVE

TO "ORPHANS' PROMISE," YOU

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE

LIVES OF FAMILIES, LIKE

THIS MOM AND HER TWO

CHILDREN.

THESE ARE JUST TWO

CHILDREN OUT OF MANY, MANY

THAT ARE BEING TOUCHED IN

HELPED IN LEBANON RIGHT

NOW.

WE SAY THANK YOU TO ALL OF

YOU.

ANDREW?

Andrew: UP NEXT, THE

QUARTER BACK WHO HAS TAKEN

KENTUCKY TO NEW HEIGHTS,

AND WHO HAS BEEN

MIRACULOUSLY HEALED OF AN

INCURABLE DIFFERENCE.

THE LORD HEALED ME

RIGHT THEN AND THERE.

SINCE THEN, I HAVEN'T HAD

ANY OTHER SYMPTOMS.

Andrew: FIND OUT WHAT

THIS WILDCAT WAS HEALED OF

AND HOW IT HAS CHANGED HIS

LIFE.

PLUS WE'RE GOING TO BE

PRAYING FOR YOU.

STAY WITH US.

Andrew: KENTUCKY HAS

LONG BEEN KNOWN AS A

BASKETBALL STATE.

BUT LATELY THEY'VE BEEN

KNOWN FOR THEIR FOOTBALL

TEAM.

THANKS TO THEIR QUARTER

BACK STEVEN JOHNSON.

ADVERSE THE CENTURY IS

SOMETHING JOHNSON HAS

BATTLED HIS ENTIRE LIFE.

WILL JOHNSON HAS HIS

AMAZING STORY.

THEY ARE GOING TO BLITZ

UP THE MIDDLE, AND THEY

DO.

HE GETS IT OFF TO WILLIAM,

AND HE BREAKS THE TACKLE,

10-5 TOUCHDOWN, KENTUCKY.

HE'S AT THE 50, TO THE

45 -- HURDLES THE DEFENDER

ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE

MISSISSIPPI STATE 30-YARD

LINE.

JOHNSON DROPS THE THROW,

FAKES LEFT, THROWING IT

DEEP DOWN THE NEAR SIDE

LINE, BAKER IS OUT THERE.

CAN HE HANG ON?

TOUCHDOWN, KENTUCKY!

STEVEN JOHNSON IS THE

AP PIEPITOME OF ATTESTED

QUARTERBACK.

HE HAS LED THE KENTUCKY

WILDCATS TO THEIR BEST

CONFERENCE RECORD IN 10

YEARS, IN THEIR FIRST BOWL

ATTENDANCE SINCE 2010.

BUT HIT THE REWIND BUTTON,

AND YOU'LL FIND A YOUNG

MAN WHO HAS WEATHERED THE

STORMS.

STEVEN STEIN OUT OF HIGH

SCHOOL, ONLY TO LOSE HIS

STARTING POSITION TO

INJURY.

THROUGH PRAYER AND ADVICE

FROM HIS PARENTS, STEVEN

TRANSFERRED AND FOUGHT

THROUGH THE JUNIOR COLLEGE

RANKS BEFORE ACCEPTING A

SCHOLARSHIP TO THE

UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY.

COACH DARREN HENSHAW SAYS

IT IS CLEAR STEVEN JOHNSON

HAS BEEN TESTED.

HE IS VERY UNIQUE IN

THE FACT HE DOESN'T LET A

LOT OF THINGS BOTHER HIM.

YOU CAN TELL THAT HE HAS A

GOOD SPIRIT ABOUT HIM,

THAT HE UNDERSTANDS ABOUT

GOD.

HE HAS HIS PRIORITIES IN

LIFE.

THAT'S HALF THE BATTLE IN

LIFE, WHICH HELPS HIM GROW

AS A QUARTERBACK AND AS A

MAN.

Reporter: STEVEN'S

SUCCESS COMES AS NO

SURPRISE TO THOSE WHO KNOW

HIM WELL.

IADVERSITY FOUND HIM AT A

YOUNG AGE.

TO REALLY UNDERSTAND

STEVEN JOHNSON, IT IS

IMPERATIVE TO LEARN OF HIS

BATTLE AS A BOY.

AT THE AGE OF 8, STEVEN

WAS DIAGNOSED WITH

TOURETTE'S SYNDROME, A

DISEASE FOR WHICH THERE IS

NO CURE, AFFECTING LESS

THAN 10% OF THE U.S.

POPULATION.

HE SAYS HE CAN'T REMEMBER

LIVING WITHOUT IT.

WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER, YOU

WERE DIAGNOSED WITH

TOURETTE'S.

WHEN DID YOU BEGIN

NOTICING THE AFFECTS OF

THAT?

I ALWAYS REMEMBER

HAVING IT.

Reporter: AS A CHILD,

STEVEN EXCELLED IN SPORTS.

IN FACT, THERE WEREN'T

MANY THAT HE DIDN'T PLAY.

AND ATHLETICS BECAME A

SAFE HAVEN FROM THE

SYMPTOMS OF TOURETTE'S.

THE ONLY TIME I REALLY

DIDN'T SEE IT WAS PLAYING

SPORTS.

IT WAS REALLY ODD.

STARTING A PRACTICE, THE

SYMPTOMS WOULD STOP; AND

AS SOON AS PRACTICE WAS

OVER, IT WOULD START UP

AGAIN.

Reporter: THE

JOHNSONS WERE DOING

EVERYTHING THAT COULD,

INCLUDING ADMINISTRATING

HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINE.

IT WAS PAINFUL, AS

MOTHERS WANT TO FIX

THINGS.

HE WOULD COME HOME AND

LITERALLY SIT ON THAT

COUCH RIGHT THERE AND ALL

THE TICKS WOULD COME OUT.

TO SIT THERE AND WATCH HIM

AND NOT BEING ABLE TO DO

ANYTHING ABOUT IT, IT WAS

A HARD TIME.

IT WAS A HARD TIME.

DEALING WITH THAT ALL

OF THE TIME, WHAT DOES IT

DO TO A YOUNG KID?

IT MADE ME KIND OF IND

VERTED ANINTROVERTED AND SHY.

PEOPLE LOOKED AT ME

DIFFERENT, THEY SAW THE

WAY I ACTED, EVEN THOUGH I

COULDN'T HELP IT.

IT WAS REALLY HARD.

Reporter: STEVEN'S

FAMILY RAISED HIM IN A

CHRISTIAN HOME.

ONE NIGHT IN A STRUGGLE,

HE PRAYED.

I ASKED THE LORD JUST

TAKE THIS FROM ME.

REALLY STRUGGLING

FRIEND-WISE, AND IN

SCHOOL.

I JUST WANTED TO BE

NORMAL.

Reporter: THE NEXT

MORNING STEVEN KNEW HE WAS

HEALED.

I WENT INTO HIS ROOM,

AND I SAID, STEVEN, WAKE

UP.

IT IS TIME FOR YOUR

MEDICINE.

HE WOKE UP AND HE SAID,

MOM, I'M NOT TAKING THAT

MEDICINE ANYMORE.

I'M HEALED.

AND IT WAS AS SIMPLE AS

THAT.

I WOKE UP THE NEXT

MORNING AND I SAW THE

DIFFERENCE.

THE LORD HELPED ME RIGHT

THEN AND THERE.

HE HAD SUCH A PEACE

ABOUT HIM.

YOU HAVE FAITH AND YOU

ALSO HAVE DOUBTS, SO I WAS

ALWAYS ASKING HIM, HOW DO

YOU FEEL?

AND I WAS, LIKE, I'M

HEALED.

SINCE THEN, I DIDN'T HAVE

ANY OTHER SYMPTOMS.

AND FINALLY PAULETTE

TOLD ME, STOP ASKING HOW

HE FEELS.

HE SAYS HE FEELS GOOD.

AND WE NEVER ASKED

ANYMORE.

Reporter: DID YOU

KNOW AT THAT TIME THAT IT

WAS GOD THAT DID IT?

ABSOLUTELY.

ABSOLUTELY.

THERE WAS NO OTHER WAY TO

DESCRIBE IT.

WAKING UP THAT MORNING,

IT WAS DIVINE, HOW THE

LORD REALLY WORKED IN

THAT.

Reporter: THROUGH

PATIENCE AND HIS STRUGGLE

AND HIS DEPENDENCE UPON

GOD, STEVEN HAS BECOME

POISED, FEARLESS, AND

TESTED.

HE IS THROWING DEEP, IN

THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD,

AND HE'S GOT A MAN OPEN.

TOUCHDOWN, KENTUCKY!

PLAYING IN THE F.C.C.,

BEING A DIVISION ONE

QUARTERBACK, THAT IS A

REALLY BIG THING.

IT IS HARD TO TRY TO

HUMBLE YOURSELF SOMETIMES,

AND YOU HAVE TO REALLY

STAY IN TUNE WITH THE LORD

AND REALLY READ YOUR

BIBLE, EVEN THOUGH

EVERYTHING AROUND HERE

TELLS YOU YOU'RE THE MAN,

YOU'RE THE GUY, BUT YOU

REALLY HAVE TO PUT GOD

FIRST IN ALL OF THAT.

Reporter: AND BY

PUTTING GOD FIRST, STEVEN

KNOWS THAT EVEN THOUGH

LIFE MAY BRING ADVERSITY,

THERE IS ONE WHO WILL BE

WITH HIM TO THE END.

I COULDN'T HAVE GONE

HERE, WHERE I'M AT RIGHT

NOW, WITHOUT MY LORD.

I THINK EVERYBODY IN THE

WORLD SHOULD KNOW ABOUT

JESUS.

HE IS MY SAVIOR.

HE IS MY BEST FRIEND.

KEEPING HIM CLOSE TO ME AT

ALL TIMES IS SOMETHING I

HAVE TO DO, JUST TO BE

ABLE TO CONTINUE GOING.

WITH EVERYTHING I'VE DONE

AND EVERYTHING I'VE GONE

THROUGH, HE HAS BEEN RIGHT

THERE WITH ME EVERY STEP

OF THE WAY.

Andrew: WHAT AN

INSPIRING STORY, STEVEN

JOHNSON.

AMAZING, TOO, WHEN HE SAID

HE WOKE UP AND HE JUST

KNEW HE WAS HEALED.

AFTER ALL OF THOSE YEARS

OF HIS PARENTS HURTING FOR

HIM, HE JUST CLAIMED IT.

YOU MAY BE A MOM OR A DAD

WHO IS HURTING FOR YOUR

CHILD, OR YOU MAY BE

SOMEONE WHO IS SUFFERING

WITH SOME SORT OF SICKNESS

OR CANCER, OR WHATEVER

YOUR LIFE CIRCUMSTANCES

ARE, AND YOU ARE IN NEED

OF PRAYER.

AND TERRY AND I WOULD LOVE

TO LIFT YOU UP RIGHT NOW

AND PRAY FOR WHATEVER YOUR

NEED IS.

FATHER GOD, WE REJOICE IN

THE STORY WE JUST SAW,

THAT YOU TOOK AWAY A

CONDITION THAT WAS THOUGHT

TO NOT BE CURABLE.

WE REMEMBER TODAY THAT

WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE

POSSIBLE, FATHER.

AND FOR THOSE STRUGGLING

IN ADDICTION RIGHT NOW,

THOSE LITERALLY SHAKING

WATCHING THIS PROGRAM

BECAUSE THEY ARE BOUND TO

O A SUBSTANCEA SUBSTANCE, DRUGS OR

ALCOHOL, IN THE NAME OF

JESUS, WE REBUKE THOSE

CHAINS AND SPEAK FREEDOM

BECAUSE OF THE BLOOD OF

CHRIST, THE WORK DONE ON

THE CROSS FREES US --

THAT'S WHAT WE CELEBRATE.

THAT'S HOW WE GAIN

VICTORY.

NOT THROUGH OUR EFFORTS,

BUT THROUGH THE WORK OF

JESUS ON THE CROSS.

AND WE SPEAK FREEDOM TODAY

FROM ADDICTION IN JESUS'

NAME.

Terry: THERE IS

SOMEONE ELSE, YOU HAVE A

PROBLEM WITH YOUR VISION.

YOU HAVE VERY THICK

GLASSES, BUT EVEN WITH

THOSE GLASSES, IT IS KIND

OF STRANGE.

YOU CAN SEE -- YOUR VISION

IS IMPROVED, BUT IT IS

STILL NOT WHAT IT SHOULD

BE.

GOD IS HEALING THAT

CONDITION IN YOUR EYES FOR

YOU RIGHT NOW.

AND SOMEONE ELSE, YOU HAVE

LIKE A MISALIGNMENT IN

YOUR SPINE, AND YOU'LL

KNOW THIS IS YOU BECAUSE

YOU'RE CONSTANTLY UNDER

THIS DULL ACHING, AND IT

IS GONE NOW IN JESUS'

NAME.

JUST RECEIVE HIS HEALING.

Andrew: THANK YOU,

LORD.

WE THINK OF VERSE 1 OF

PSALM 27, YOU ARE OUR

LIGHT AND OUR SALVATION,

SO WHY SHOULD WE BE

AFRAID.

WE COME AGAINST FEAR IN

THE NAME OF JESUS.

YOU TELL US TO BE ANXIOUS

FOR NOTHING, AND THAT'S

ONLY POSSIBLE WHEN WE REST

IN YOU.

THANK YOU THAT THAT CALL

IS ALWAYS FROM YOU.

YOU ALWAYS DESIRE

RELATIONSHIP WITH US NO

MATTER HOW WE HAVE FAILED

YOU, LORD.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR

FAITHFULNESS TO US IN

JESUS' NAME.

AMEN.

I WANT TO LEAVE YOU WITH A

WONDERFUL SCRIPTURE, 2

TIMOTHY: "GOD HAS NOT

GIVEN US A SPIRIT OF FEAR,

BUT OF POWER, OF LOVE, AND

OF A SOUND MIND."

WE WANT TO THANK YOU FOR

JOINING US.

UNTIL NEXT TIME, I'M

ANDREW KNOX, ALONG WITH

TERRY MEEUWSEN, AND WE'LL

SEE YOU TOMORROW.

BYE-BYE.
