OUTSIDE THE PERSON OF

OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, LET

ME SAY AGAIN THERE ARE

PROBLEMS OF FEAR.

Mark: BILLY GRAHAM

THE EVILS OF SOCIETY.

HE JOINED MARTIN LUTHER

KING, JR. TO CONFRONT

RACISM.

CHRIST BELONGS TO ALL

PEOPLE.

HEE BELONGS TO THE WHOLE

WORLD.

Mark: DESPITE SHARP

CRITICISM FROM MANY IN THE

RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY, HE

TOOK THE MESSAGE OF

SALVATION BEHIND THE IRON

CURTAIN, AND HE EVEN WENT

INTO NORTH KOREA TO TALK

ABOUT CHRIST WITH ITS

LEADER, TH THE LATE KIM

IL-SUNG.

HE STAYED FOCUSED ON

TELLING MEN AND WOMEN

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST.

HIS MINISTRY, HIS LIFE,

EVERY SPEAKING ENGAGEMENT,

EVERY OPPORTUNITY, WITH A

PRESIDENT OR A KING OR

WHOEVER, HE WOULD ALWAYS

GET THE CONVERSATION RIGHT

AROUND TO THE GOSPEL.

Mark: HE WAS KNOWN AS

THE PASTOR TO THE

PRESIDENTS, A FRIEND OF 11

COMMANDERS IN CHIEF.

TIMES CONSECUTIVELY, MORE

THAN ANY OTHER PERSON IN

HISTORY.

MY WHOLE LIFE HAS BEEN

TO PLEASE THE LORD AND TO

HONOR JESUS, NOT TO SEE

ME, NOT TO THINK OF ME.

YOU COME RIGHT NOW,

QUICKLY.

WHILE EVERY HEAD IS BOWED

IN PRAYER AND THE CHOIR

SINGS SOFTLY, JUST AS I

AM, HUNDREDS ARE ALREADY

COMING FROM EVERYWHERE.

YOU COME WITH US.

*

YOU OUT THERE, TONIGHT,

CAN GIVE YOUR LIFE TO

CHRIST.

Mark: MARK MARTIN,

CBN NEWS.

Efrem: IT'S BEEN ONE

WEEK SINCE THE DEADLY

SHOOTING RAMPAGE AT A

FLORIDA HIGH SCHOOL, AND

STATE AND FEDERAL

LAWMAKERS ARE NOW UNDER

PRESSURE TO TAKE ACTION ON

GUN LAWS.

PRESIDENT TRUMP IS

SCHEDULED TO MEET WITH

STUDENTS AND TEACHERS

TODAY AT THE WHITE HOUSE.

HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE SHOWED

UP AT THE MINNESOTA STATE

CAPITAL THIS WEEK, FOR A

RALLY HELD BY MOMS

DEMANDING ACTION FOR GUN

SENSE IN AMERICA.

WE'RE MOTHERS, FATHERS,

PARENTS, NEIGHBORS, AND

WE'RE ALL READY FOR OUR

LAWMAKERS TO TAKE ACTION

TO PREVENT THE GUN

VIOLENCE THAT IS PLAGUING

OUR COUNTRIES.

Efrem: IN FLORIDA,

SURVIVORS OF THE SHOOTING

MASSACRE IN PARKLAND

TRAVELLED TO THEIR STATE

CAPITAL TO PUSH FOR NEW

GUN LAWS.

IT IS NOT ABOUT

DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS.

THIS IS A MOVEMENT FOR

HUMANITY, FOR SAFETY.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT GUN

SAFETY.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT SCHOOL

SAFETY.

AND WE'RE TALKING ABOUT

MENTAL HEALTH.

Efrem: AS STUDENTS

TRAVELLED TO TALLAHASSEE

BY BUS, FLORIDA

LEGISLATORS VOTED NOT TO

CONSIDER A BILL TO BAN

ASSAULT RIFLES.

THIS PICTURE SHOWS A

SURVIVOR OVERCOME WITH

EMOTION WHILE WATCHING THE

VOTE.

MEANWHILE, IN WASHINGTON,

AT A WHITE HOUSE CEREMONY

HONORING BRAVERY OF PUBLIC

SAFETY OFFICERS, PRESIDENT

TRUMP DIRECTED THE

ATTORNEY-GENERAL TO BAN

BUMP STOCKS, DEVICES USED

IN THE LAS VEGAS SHOOTING

RAMPAGE.

THEY MADE IT EASIER TO

FIRE OFF MORE ROUNDS

FASTER.

President Trump: I

SIGNED A MEMORANDUM

DIRECTING THE

ATTORNEY-GENERAL TO

PROPOSE REGULATIONS TO BAN

ALL DEVICES THAT TURN

LEGAL WEAPONS INTO MACHINE

GUNS.

Efrem: DEMOCRATIC

CENTER DIANNE FEINSTEIN

RESPONDED BY TWEETING:

"LEGISLATION IS THE ONLY

ANSWER.

ANSWER."

AND THE PRESIDENT SAYS HE

IS OPEN TO APPROVING

FEDERAL BACKGROUND CHECKS.

DOES THE PRESIDENT

BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE AN

AGE LIMIT FOR THOSE WHO

BUY AR-15 --

I THINK THAT IS ON THE

TABLE FOR US TO DISCUSS.

Efrem: TOMORROW THE

PRESIDENT WILL MEET WITH

STATE AND LOCAL LEADERS TO

DISCUSS SCHOOL SAFETY.

> AND HERE ARE SOME OF

THE OTHER BIG HEADLINES

THEY HAVE ADOPTED ITS A

CASES ISIS PASSEDpo ON ITS

CORE BELIEFS VIA THE

CLASSROOM.

IN MOSUL, YOU HAVE

600,000 CHILDREN THAT

LIVED UNDER ISIS FOR O THE

PAST THREE YEARS.

THEY WERE TAUGHT EVERY DAY

IN THE SCHOOLS, ADDING UP

BOMBS IN ORDER TO LEARN

MATH, AND LEARNING TO HATE

AND KILL YAZIDIS,

CHRISTIANS, AND EVEN OTHER

MUSLIMS WHO DIDN'T BELIEVE

LIKE THEM.

Reporter: MANY OF THEELIE

CHILDREN WHO SURVIVED THIS

LIFE OF BRUTALITY NOW LIK

ATTITUDES.

MANY SEE ISIS AS THE SUPER

HERO OF THEIR WORLD. THE

THOSE WHO TRY TO HELP THEM

SAY IT IS HORRIBLY

APPARENT, EVEN ON THE

PLAYGROUND.

A GROUP OF TEACHERS

THAT WE WORKED WITH CAME

ACROSS A GROUP OF STUDENTS

PLAYING A GAME.

IT WAS A GAME WHERE THEY

LOOKED AND THEY WERE AND

SHOCKED.

AND THEY TOLD US WHAT

HAPPENED.

THEY SAID WHEN THEY

REALIZED IT WAS A GROUP OF

STUDENTS BEHEADING ANOTHER

STUDENT, THEY WERE SO ST

TERRIFIED THEY DIDN'T EVEN

KNOW WHAT TO DO.

WE HAVE HEARD THE SAME

STORIES IN LEBANON, AND

SIMILAR STORIES IN

MOROCCO.

THIS ISTORI ALL OVER THE

MIDDLE EAST.

Reporter: FOR THE

LAST THREE YEARS, RAMIREZ

HAS TRAINED TEACHERS TH

ACROSS THE MIDDLE EAST TO

TEACH THESE CHILDREN

RELIGIOUS FREEDOMS.

DEAN ERIC PATTERSON SERVES

ON HER BOARD AND SAYS

LEADERS IN PLACES LIKE

IRAQ REALIZE THEY NEED B

HELP BEFORE ANOTHERED G

HATE-FILLED GENERATION

TAKES THE PLACE OF ISIS.

THERE ARE MANY PEOPLEEL

OF FAITH, INCLUDING MUSLIM

FAITH, THAT FEEL WE HAVEO

BEEN KILLING EACH OTHER

OVER THESE THINGS FOR SOr:

LONG, MAYBE WE NEED TO A

HAVE A DIFFERENT APPROACH.

Reporter: AND THATFRO

MEANS MAKING SCHOOLS THE

FRONT LINES FOR CHILDREN.

TRAINING TEACHERS TO HELP

STUDENTS LEARN NOT JUST TO

TOLERATE EACH OTHER'S

BELIEFS, BUT TO DEFEND

THEM.

AFTER JUST A FEWR

LESSONS OF LEARNING ABOUT

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM THROUGH

SIMULATIONS AND

ACTIVITIES, SO IN A VERY

INDIRECT WAY, IT FORCES

THEM TO INTERNAL LIEIZE IT ANDHRO

TO WORK THROUGH SOME OF QU

THE QUESTIONS THEY HAVE

ABOUT THIS FREEDOM.

AT THE END, THEIR IN

ATTITUDES ARE SHIFTED.

THE BASIC IDEA OF HARD

WIRED IS EVERY HUMAN ISR

HARD F WIRED FOR FREEDOM.LIEV

WE BELIEVE AS CHRISTIANS,

THAT IS A PARTCH OF THE WAY

THAT GOD MADE US, IN THE

IMAGE OF GOD, WITH THE

ABILITY TO MAKE CHOICES

AND THINGS.

AND SO THAT IDEA IS REALLY

AT THE HEART OF E IT.

ONE COLOR OR MANY.TH

FROM THERE THEY TALK ABOUT OR

THE STRENGTH OF A SOCIETY

THAT TREATS ALL RELIGIONS

WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT.

IT MAY LOOK LIKE JUST FUN

AND GAMES, BUT IT IST IT

DEADLY SERIOUS.

UNTIL WE HAVE A SOCIETY

THAT EMBRACES RELIGIOUS

FREEDOM FOR EVERYBODY, WEE

WILL ONLY SEE RECURRENT

CYCLES OF RELIGION-RELATEDRELA

CONFLICT ALL ACROSS THE

BOOK WILL SUGGEST THAT

CHRISTIANITY IS LOSING ITSACH

CULTURAL INFLUENCE.

ND

Efrem: TWO MEDIA AND

MARKETING EXPERTS ARE

TAKING A LOOK AT

CHRISTIANITY'S CULTURE

RETREAT, AND EXPLAINING

WHY CHRISTIANS NEED TO

FIND THE WAY BACK.

TAKE A LOOK. HAV

THEY HAVE CREATED FILMS

LIKE "THE BLIND SIDE" ANDWS

THE "CHRONICLES OF "

NARNIA","TH AND TV SHOWSNN'S

LIKE "THE BIBLE" ANDS

"FINDING JESUS."

JONATHAN AND PHIL SAY

CHRISTIANS NEED TO CREATEND P

BETTER STRATEGIES FOR

ENGAGING CULTURE. NEE

IN THEIR BOOK, "THE WAY

BACK," JONATHAN AND PHIL

TAKE A HARD LOOK AT WHY

OUR FAITH IS LOSING

GROUND, AND THEYD OFFER THE

CHANGES WE SHOULD BE

MAKING FOR A MUCH-NEEDED

COMEBACK.

> IN TERMS OF CLARIFYING

OUR MESSAGE AS CHRISTIANS,

WHERE DO WE BEGIN

CLARIFYING THAT MESSAGE?

WELL, I THINK IT REALLY

STARTS WITH HOW WE ARE

LIVING OUR LIVES.

AND RIGHT NOW THE PROBLEM

IS IS THAT THERE IS A REAL

DISCONNECT BETWEEN HOW WE

PERCEIVE OURSELVES AND HOW

OTHERS PERCEIVE US.

AND PART OF WHAT WE DID IN

THE BOOK IS START TO GO

THROUGH SOME OF THE STATS

OF THE CHRISTIAN

COMMUNITY, AND WE HAVE A

REAL DISCONNECT.

SO ESSENTIALLY, DEPENDING

ON THE STATISTICIAN YOU

TALK TO, BETWEEN 70 AND

80% OF THE COUNTRY SAYS

THEY'RE CHRISTIAN.

THE STATS THAT WE FOUND IS

20% OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO

CHURCH ON A WEEKLY BASIS.

AND SO THAT IS -- THAT'S

SAYING ONE THING AND DOING

ANOTHER.

SO WHAT WE STARTED TO SEE

IS ALL THOSE THINGS THAT

NON-CHRISTIANS SAY ABOUT

US, OF BEING HYPOCRITICAL,

ARE ENTIRELY TRUE.

Efrem: SO WHERE DO WE

BEGIN TO TURN IT AROUND?

HOW DO WE GET STARTED?

IT IS NOT MISSION TRIPS

OR FASTING -- NOT THE HARD

STUFF -- BUT JUST GETTING

BACK TO THE BASICS.

WE ASKED THE QUESTION,

WHEN HAS THE CHURCH AS A

WHOLE REALLY DONE THE

RIGHT THING?

EVEN TODAY THERE ARE

CHRISTIANS WHO ARE OUT

THERE WHO ARE SERIOUS

ABOUT GOD AND BIBLE

READING AND GOING TO

CHURCH.

HOWEVER, WHEN THE VAST

MAJORITY OF CHRISTIANS ARE

NOT LIVING THAT LIFE,

THAT'S WHAT CREATES THAT

BAD, BAD PERCEPTION.

AND SO WE JUST NEED TO

GET BACK TO THE HARD WORK.

THAT'S THE PLACE TO START,

BACK TO THE BASICS, BACK

TO THE HARD WORK.

YOU KNOW, WORKING OUT IS

HARD.

AND WEARING YOGA PANTS IS

REALLY EASY.

Efrem: IN YOUR BOOK,

YOU TALK ABOUT INFLUENCE

VERSUS EXAMPLE.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

MOST CHRISTIANS TALK

ABOUT INFLUENCING THE

CULTURE, AND WE MEAN

WELL -- WE WANT TO DO

RIGHT.

BUT WHEN YOU LOOK UP THE

DEFINITION OF "INFLUENCE,"

IT HAS ALL OF THESE

SYNONYMS LIKE CONTROL AND

POWER, THE THINGS THAT

PEOPLE REALLY PUSH BACK

AGAINST.

SO SUDDENLY OUR EFFORTS TO

INFLUENCE ARE TAKEN THE

WRONG WAY.

SO WHAT WE DISCOVERED IS

JESUS NEVER REALLY TRIED

TO INFLUENCE ANYBODY.

HE JUST PROVIDED A BETTER

EXAMPLE.

TODAY WE HAVE TRIED

POLITICS, AND THAT HASN'T

WORKED.

WE'VE TRIED BOYCOTTS, AND

THAT HASN'T WORKED.

WE'VE TRIED ANGER

STRATEGIES -- I'LL GET MAD

AT YOU IF YOU DON'T SAY

MERRY CHRISTMAS, AND I I BUY

YOUR COFFEE.

SO MAYBE WE JUST NEED TO

PROVIDE A BETTER EXAMPLE.

IN THE BOOK, WE GO

THROUGH DIFFERENT THINGS

THAT THE CHURCH CAN DO TO

ASTONISH PEOPLE AGAIN.

THE FOSTER CARE PROGRAM IN

THE UNITED NATIONS IS A

DISASTER.

IT IS 450,000 KIDS STUCK

IN THE FOSTER PROGRAM.

WHICH SOUNDS OVERWHELMING

TO YOU AND ME.

EXCEPT THERE IS 300,000

PLUS CHURCHES IN THE U.S.

SO IF EACH CHURCH JUST

TOOK ONE OR TWO KIDS, AND

THE REST OF THE CHURCH

JUST SUPPORTED THAT FAMILY

THAT DID THAT, WE COULD

WIPE OUT -- LIKE THAT, WELD

COULD WIPE OUT THE FOSTERE

CARE PROGRAM.

AND THAT WOULD ASTONISH

PEOPLE.

THEY WOULD GO, WHAT

HAPPENED TO ALL OF THESE

KIDS WHO WERE ORPHANS.

AND THAT'S ONE OF THE

MANY EXAMPLES IN THE BOOK.

THERE ARE THINGS WE CAN DO

INDIVIDUALLY, THINGS WE

CAN DO AS A DO CHURCH.

WE JUST CHALLENGE READERS

TO THINK, WHAT ARE THE

THINGS YOU CAN DO IN YOUR CAN

FAMILY, YOUR COMMUNITY,

YOUR CHURCH, YOUR

NEIGHBORHOOD, THAT WOULDD,

SO ASTONISH PEOPLE, SO

THEY WOULD RE-THINK, THESE

CHRISTIANS ARE NOT WHAT I

THOUGHT THEY ARE.UGHT

Efrem: LET'S WORK TO L

ASTONISH PEOPLE.
