CAN THOSE WHO ARE IN HEAVEN STILL SEE EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS ON EARTH AND SEE THEIR LOVED ONES STILL LIVING? DO YOU BELIEVE WE ARE IN THE BEGINNING OF SORROWS OF THE END OF DAYS?
- Well, it's time for your questions
and some honest answers.
And Pat, this first onecomes from Lenny who says,
I hear people and sometimespastors tell individuals
whose family members have passed on
that they're lookingdown on them from heaven.
Is this true?
Can those who are in heaven still see
everything that happens on earth
and see their loved ones still living?
- I don't think so.
I think that the Bible says
we're surrounded by such a great cloud
of witnesses but it's not the same thing
as people spying on us.
I mean, it just doesn't work that way.
I mean, you know, the storyof the rich man and Lazarus,
you know, he was in Abraham's bosom
and he said, you know,I've got family on earth
and let me go them.
And Abraham says they won't repent
though if somebody rose from the dead
and they've got Moses and the prophets.
But between us and themis a great gull fix
is what the Bible says.
No way are your lovedones looking down on you.
It sounds sweet but itjust isn't Biblical.
- Okay this is Sherry who says,
I believe we are in thebeginning of sorrows
that Matthew 24:6-8 describes.
Rumors of wars, nation against nation
pestilences, famines andearthquakes in various places.
Do you believe we are inthe beginning of sorrows
of the end of days?
- (laughs) Well, you know, when you look at the break up
of the Roman Empire, itsure did look like that.
When you look at what happenedin the so called Dark Ages,
about 1,000 A.D. and onit sure looked that way.
When the Germans weresweeping across Europe
and it sure looked that, the end of World War One
and World War Two it looked that way.
But the truth is,
it's hard to say are we inthe beginning of sorrows?
There are a lot of thingshappening in the world
that look a lot like it.
But in a sense prophecy isbeing fulfilled day after day
after day after day and to say
is this the beginning of sorrows?
I mean, we've gonethrough things like this,
probably worse than this in days gone by.
I mean the break up of theRoman Empire was big deal.
I mean, it really tore thewhole civilization apart.
But that wasn't the end, okay.
- This is Brittany who says,Pat, I've heard pastors speak
from Revelation 12 about a place
of safety where God will protect believers
during the tribulation.
Is this true?
And if so what about the believers
who are in institutions, suchas children in orphanages,
seniors in long-term care facilities?
How will believers get there,
do you believe this placewill be in the Middle East?
- Well, I don't believethere's such a place.
I mean, they talk aboutthat place in Jordan
that (mumbles) little place.
There's a word in the bookabout the dragon opening
his mouth on a flood ofwater going after the woman
and the woman is given a place of safety.
There just isn't any way.
I mean, there's what seven billion people
on the face of the earth.
Where are they gonna go to hide?
It's not gonna happen.
You know, here's the deal andwe've gotta get it straight.
When Jesus comes back to earth again,
he is then going to takethose who belong to him,
he's gonna send his angelsand he'll gather his elect
from the four corners of the earth.
The Bible also says thatthey'll take out of his kingdom
those that cause offense.
But nevertheless, there'sgoing to be a rapture,
I believe that.
But it'll be like, we willbe caught up to be with him
in the air and he'll becoming down to earth,
he will then take charge ofthe earth and that'll be it.
You're not gonna havetrains without conductors
running off the tracks.
You're not gonna haveairplanes with the pilot
being caught up to heavenand the plane crashes.
You're not gonna have total chaos.
The Lord's not gonna let that happen.
And I think in all this business
we've been taught incorrectly.
When the Lord comes back thatwill be, we'll be caught up
to be with him in the air
and we'll forever be with the Lord.
Until then, all thisstuff is just fantasy.
I mean, I'm sorry, it's whatit is, it's just fantasy.
It's not going to happen, okay.
