Two Blind Brothers See!
CBN.com – Seven year old Fahmi and five year old Idaman of Indonesia are brothers. They've been blind since birth from juvenile cataracts and have never seen each other or their mom and dad.
Their mother, Mrs. Tanjung, said, "It's hard for them to find things. Sometimes they didn't know what they are picking up. I often have to help them."
She is trying to teach her young sons what she can at home, but the boys dream of going to school. She told them that they cannot go to school because they can't see. It'
s heartbreaking for her to see her sons have no future.
That's when a relative told the family about Operation Blessing and the free cataract surgeries they provide for children and adults. The boys were two of nearly 600 who came to register that day for surgeries.
Because the boys were so young, Operation Blessing decided to fly them, along with their dad, to Jakarta so they could receive the surgeries in a pediatric hospital.
The doctor's performed the delicate surgeries, and as they removed their bandages, the boys were able to see each other for the first time.
Operation Blessing then returned the brothers to their village where they saw their mother for the first time. Their mother wept as she realized what the kindness of strangers had meant to her family. As she finished hugging the boys, she began thanking each of the Operation Blessing team.
The rest of the day was filled with celebration, playtime, and spending time with their mom.
She says, "I am so happy they are home and they can see! What a wonderful gift."
Operation Blessing also gave the boys the glasses they needed to bring their vision to 20/20. And that's made it possible for them to go to school. Their mother would like to thank Operation Blessing for bringing healing to her sons. "Because of Operation Blessing they can see!"
