An Opportunity for Carlos
CBN.com – Carlos Tomai is a 17-year-old boy, who lives with his parents and seven brothers and sisters in the city of Callao, about an hour and a half from Lima, Peru. Callao is an area with many gangs.
Some time ago, on his way home, Carlos found himself cornered in the midst of a rival gang confrontation, and a stray bullet hit him in his stomach.
While in the hospital, Carlos’ relatives didn’t know what to do. The only one receiving a salary was Carlos’ father who sells natural remedies on the streets. After Carlos’ accident, his family wondered how they were going to pay for the medical expenses. If they didn’t find help soon, Carlos would get worse.
It was at that moment that a social worker in the district contacted Operation Blessing (OB) in Peru. Members of the OB team visited Carlos at the hospital, paid his debts, and took him home. Also, OB supplied medicine, injections, bandages, and other products that Carlos needed for his treatment.
The Tomai family is very grateful to Operation Blessing for their help and prayers. Now they can stay united and take care of Carlos. Thanks to all of OB’s partners, the desperation they once felt is in the past and Carlos will soon be able to get out of bed.
