What Does Your Name Mean?
CBN.com – When Mr. and Mrs. Hao had a baby born with a cleft lip and palate, they couldn’t understand why this had happened to their son.
“It seemed impossible for me to have a baby like this,” says Mrs. Hao. “I had not taken medicine during my pregnancy. I never even had a cold.”
Every member of the Hao family mourned the baby’s condition and searched for answers, especially Grandma and Grandpa Hao.
“I had never seen a baby with a cleft lip before. I could not figure out why the baby we had waited so long for looked liked this. I thought maybe it was a curse,” says Grandma Hao.
When baby Hao was born, doctors said his only hope for a bright future would be cleft lip and palate surgery. But the Haos are poor, and they couldn't afford that. Mr. Hao works miles away in another village, and the rest of the family weave mats. Together, their total income is only $130 a year.
“I was afraid that no one would be able to help us,” notes Mrs. Hao.
Then the Haos were introduced to another family who had a son born with a cleft palate. That boy had received help from CBN.
“I saw how the boy’s lip was totally fixed, and it gave me hope for my grandson,” says Grandpa Hao.
So, Grandpa Hao wrote CBN a letter, asking for help. Within a short time, CBN provided the baby with free cleft lip and palate surgery. The Haos asked CBn Beijing to name their little boy.
Meet Enlin Hao, which means “God’s grace has come.” The entire family agreed that this was the perfect name, because God’s grace had truly come, through the help of CBN.
Says Grandpa Hao, “When he grows up and people ask him about his name, we can share the story about how CBN helped him.
Adds Mrs. Hao, “I will teach my boy to never forget that his blessing came from God!”
“I hope that Enlin will be inspired by CBN’s great love and that one day he’ll be a person that cares about other people, just like CBN cared about him!” says his proud Grandpa.
