We Have Safe Drinking Water!

CBN.com – Nohbo Orphanage and Bible School is nestled in the jungle and misty mountains along the Thai-Burma border. It is home to more than 100 tribal Karen orphans, students, and staff, many who have fled horrific atrocities in their homeland of Burma.
Sufficient drinking water has always been a problem for this remote community. The unreliable village water supply is often dirty, not safe for consumption, and frequently runs out in the dry season.
Whenever drinking water runs out in Nohbo, staff members drive more than 20 kilometers to buy new supplies. With rising fuel prices and a growing community, purchasing water has become a significant financial burden on the school and orphanage.
Staff from Nohbo recently approached Operation Blessing and asked them to come up with a plan to provide safe clean drinking water to its children and students. Operation Blessing, with the help of sponsors Hitachi, purchased and installed a water pump, piping, a large water filter, and a 1,000 liter stainless steel water tank for the orphanage.
The pump sends water up the mountain from a clear spring, through the filtration system and into the storage tank, providing an ample supply of clean drinking water for the 42 children. In addition, the staff and students at the Bible School also received a water tank and filtration system to meet their drinking water needs.
Agapap, a Nohbo Bible School teacher said, “We used to have to boil water, so it was safe to drink or travel an hour to buy it. Now, with the help from Operation Blessing, we have safe drinking water. We thank the Lord for all of His provision!”
