CBN.comAbilio Lazaro and his wife’s family routine included a basic chore: to collect water from the wells near their home, which are filled with rainwater. However collecting the water daily also presented a larger problem when water levels rose too high.  This often resulted in a mix of garbage and dead animals in the water supply.

Abilio and his wife Jacinta, never thought that someday they would have pure water. In Lima, Peru, having drinkable water is a dream for many people, as it was during several years for this family.

The heavily polluted water they drank meant that their children, Cynthia and Jose, were constant victims of stomach infections, vomiting, and diarrhea. On many occasions they could not attend school because of these infections.

Given the circumstances, the need to boil the water was essential, but for this family, getting the money to buy propane gas, boil the water, and obtain pure water was a task that sometimes they could not afford. Abilio’s salary was just enough to cover the basic needs, while Jacinta sometimes found temporary jobs, which did not pay enough to raise the money needed.

The hardships faced by this family are just a sample of what really happens in the villages of Lima. In their neighborhood, more than 500 families are living in poverty, where they all share the same poor water conditions.

For a long time Jacinta prayed to God asking for deliverance from disease and provision to cover all the expenses. Finally, Jacinta’s prayers were answered and her family received a wonderful gift, and along with them, the community also was blessed, when Operation Blessing installed a new water purification plant in the village.

In addition, Operation Blessing brought a surprise for this very special family, and gave them a cart where they can prepare fast food and provide better income for themselves.

For more than 30 years, Operation Blessing has devoted great efforts around the world, to bring water to remote communities that do not have easy access to this fundamental element. Countries like the Philippines, Guatemala, Nigeria, and El Salvador have benefited from the construction of wells and water purification plants. In the past year, 0 wells were built in different areas of Peru.
