Kiev Medical Center Blesses the Poor
CBN.com In Kiev, Ukraine, the poorest of the poor can find loving concern and critical medical care at Operation Blessing’s Charitable Medical Center. In 2008 alone, 5,570 Ukrainians received medical treatment and medication free of charge from a team of highly professional doctors and nurses. Touched by the care they received, 493 of these dear folks prayed to receive Christ as their Savior.
“Our patients are orphans, disabled children, patients of rehabilitation centers for drug addicts, and the poor and elderly who cannot afford expensive medical care,” says Operation Blessing’s Regional Director, Galina Kucher. “They come from all regions of the Ukraine to our center for free medical care.”
Recently, a group of about 30 children from an orphanage not far from Kiev were brought to the Charitable Center for medical tests. Although most orphanages have their own doctors and nurses, the condition of the children’s health was deplorable. Many were infested with lice and scabies that had gone untreated for many months. At the center, all these children were examined, prescribed effective treatment and given free medication.
Thanks to the support of OB partners the medical center recently received medical equipment that allows them to perform complex blood tests, free of charge. Many of the center’s patients are senior citizens. These elderly men and women cannot afford medical treatment. As a result, they are often forced to live in pain that could easily be treated.
Very often these folks come to the center not only in search of a cure for their disease, but also longing for kindness and affection. What they find at the center is a tangible expression of God’s love for them.
“As our patients receive the warm and affectionate care from our doctors and effective medical help, their hearts are being opened towards God,” says Galina. “We are grateful to all of our partners for their extraordinary support that allows us to perform these acts of mercy.”
